Atomium
It's amazing! A real work of art, engineering and architecture. I've always been amazed by it, but, unfortunately, I never got the chance to visit inside. Indeed a very unique building that was much bigger than I was expecting and visually stunning. Such an amazing building constructed over 70 years ago for the 58th Expo. looking at it just makes me think of the architect who designed this majestic building with all those different dome towers. Imagine how much effort was put into connecting them. It still looks very shinny to me. I believe a lot of maintenance has been done to it to keep this fresh look.

Atomium - Brussels, Belgium
Built for the 1958 Brussels World Fair, this spectacular architecture landmark has been here even since! It’s now one of the popular tourist attraction in Brussels.
It serves as a museum, an art center and a cultural destination. The Atomium is 102m tall and each “atom” is made from stainless steel.
The Atomium can be access by taking the metro on Line 6 and alight at Heysel station.

The Structure with a Purpose
#celebratewithtrip
Atomium, one of the most popular landmarks in Brussels, Belgium. It was created for the 1958 world expo which was held in Brussels.
Walked from Gare du Nord for about 25 minutes to Grand Place and from there we took Metro Line 6 to Heysel/Heizel.
The Atomium is just a few steps away from the Heysel/Heizel station.
The history of Atomium was very interesting. I read it before I visited the place and it was really worth it!

What a Place!

Brussels, Belgium is just a 2 and a half hour ride by bus from Amsterdam. It is faster by train but the bus was cheaper 😁 although train is definitely more comfortable but we wanted to try the bus ride experience to be able to compare it on what to take on our next vacation 😊
One of the reasons why we wanted to go to Brussels was to see the Atomium which is the most popular landmark in the city!
We saw the Atomium at day time but we went there during night and it was more beautiful with all the lights on. The lights gave more life and charms to the object which is the Atomium.
Brussels was a very interesting place. We had an exciting experience that we won‘t forget for the rest of our lives 😅

Atomium in Belgium's Brussels
The Atomium is an iconic building in Brussels, I visited recently. You probably saw it on pictures before.
It was originally constructed for the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair. The twelve tubes are 3 meters in diameter and enclose escalators, stairs, and the tube in the center has an elevator.
🛗 and 🎟️: To take this elevator you have to pay a fee of 16€ (Students 8,50€). The 'outside' visit is for free. If you just want to see the impressive building, you don't have to get inside. If you want to enjoy the view, better pay for the ticket.

The Atomium
The Atomium is a landmark building in Brussels, originally constructed for the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair. It is located on the Heysel Plateau in Laeken, where the exhibition took place. It is now a museum. Designed by the engineer André Waterkeyn and architects André and Jean Polak, it stands 102 metres tall. Its nine 18-metre-diameter (59 ft) stainless steel clad spheres are connected in the shape of a unit cell that could represent an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. Tubes connecting the spheres enclose stairs, escalators and an elevator (in the central, vertical tube) to allow access to the five habitable spheres, which contain exhibit halls and other public spaces. The top sphere includes a restaurant which has a panoramic view of Brussels. The building was completely renovated between 2004 and 2006 by the companies Jacques Delens and BESIX.

The #atomium is located in the capital of #belgium and meanwhile the capital of the European Union - Brussels. It is very big structure in the shape of an atom. Inside there are interesting escalators and exhibitions on physics topic. It is located far from the center so be prepared for traveling at least 30-40min by public transport.

Atomium
#europetrip An amazing piece of architecture that harkens back to a time where anything felt possible in Europe. Built in the 1950s, The Atomium feels as futuristic now as I imagine it did back then.
The queue was roughly an hour, but it was a busy weekend so I guess that is to be expected. Although the queue was large, it never felt busy or packed once we were inside.
The restaurant at the top was fantastic, I would recommend a traditional Belgium beer and a traditional Belgian waffle if you don’t want to break the bank too much. The views were spectacular.
The light show inside one of the “balls” was phenomenal. A technological marvel only triumphed by the marvel of the “building” itself.
The Worlds Fair museum in another of the “balls” was fascinating. Why don’t we have a Worlds Fair anymore?!
This is a must for anyone visiting Brussels!
Atomium
#europetrip Be prepared to wait and spend a lot of time. Usually there are a lot of people. Designed for the 1958 World's Fair, the Atomium represents a magnified iron crystal unit cell.
Its nine steel spheres connected by tubes offer a unique and futuristic look.
Panoramic Views:
Take in breathtaking panoramic views of Brussels from the highest sphere. it's recommended
The chances of anything coming from Mars..
Wow! It's like something out of war of the worlds as you turn a corner and see it standing there!
Inside was filled with interesting facts on the atomium and its formation.
The photos of it in its youth, and of other structures made for previous conferences across the globe.
The different rooms across the structure hold light art exhibitions that either mesmerise you.. baffle you, or wonderfully send you to sleep in a calm serenity.
I came out very happy with my visit, and felt I got good value for money.
We took the tube from Brussels and it came out about a 5 minute walk from the entrance.
I definitely recommend it!

Something out of the Science textbook?!
I only had 1 night in Bruxelles, before jumping on a train to the next city. Maps brought us on this route from the tram stop through the autumn orange leaves and a sleek looking park!
All of this before we saw the glimpse of what I used to see in my science textbook back in high school - atoms. From afar, we were already in awe. When we got closer and closer, our minds were blown off by this incredible structure.
The beams were just holding in place perfectly, not just sustaining the weight of the metal structure, but all of its visitors as well! We were late for the last admission but the journey around the gift store was awesome indeed. #bruxelles #Brussels #freehotelstay

Atomic Tower
The Atomium was a temporary building constructed by Brussels for the 1958 World Expo, intended to showcase Belgium's steel industry and manufacturing technology at the time. As a result, this temporary building was very popular and became a landmark building for the country and the city, just like the Eiffel Tower in France.
The Atom Tower is 102 meters high, and it takes only 20 seconds to reach the top by elevator, but the queue is estimated to be at least 20 minutes. If you don't spend money at the restaurant on the top of the tower, there is no view to speak of, but each of the several balls below has its own unique features.
ATOMIUM: A MUST VISIT
a magical and informative place to visit and wonder around. eventhough it wasnt impressive at all, but the exhibition and the display sufficient enough to give some knowledge on the outer space, galaxies and stars. dont miss the chance viewing part of the capital using a binocular on the upper level. driving from the centre of the capital took around 15 minutes. if one bought the brussels card, then it will be a free entrance. oh yea and this place had been opened since 1958 and a part of the icon in brussels.
