Very Good
GGuest UserDespite the rainy weather everyone seemed really friendly and easy going. The staff took great care of our needs and was really attentive.
Even though we dont speak Japanese, communication was possible. Some people of the staff also spoke English.
The room and amenities were great and clean.
GGuest UserThis hotel boasts a perfect location, directly opposite JR Kagoshima-Chuo Station, and is conveniently connected to the station and bus terminal via an underground passage. This makes it incredibly easy to access the Shinkansen, city trams, and airport buses. What's even better is that the hotel lobby and some guest rooms offer breathtaking views, allowing you to take in the magnificent Sakurajima volcano and the dazzling city night lights. As mentioned in other reviews, the rooms are spotless and well-equipped, truly embodying the consistent cleanliness and thoughtful design characteristic of Japanese hotels. Enjoying the breakfast buffet in the morning, featuring dishes prepared with local Kagoshima ingredients, was a highlight. In particular, getting to savor the traditional and delicious 'chicken rice' made with rich chicken broth was a fantastic way to energize for the day's adventures. From check-in to check-out, the hotel staff consistently displayed professional and warm hospitality, making the entire stay incredibly comfortable and relaxing. Even as just a stop along my journey, it provided a level of comfort and convenience that far exceeded my expectations.
LLaodantaNext to Maruo Onsen Station, you can see Sakurajima if the weather is good. The hot spring is a sulfur spring, which is very beautiful in white and blue. There is also a hot spring steam sauna. The only bad thing is that the buffet has a lot of varieties but the taste is quite average. However, for a price of just over 600 yuan for one night and two meals, it is perfect.
Ccindy-caoThe triple room was generally small and a bit cramped. The only plus was the shower/tub combo, and the bathroom itself was quite spacious. The toiletries provided were excellent, and the hairdryer was a Refa, with both a curling iron and a flat iron included. It's worth noting that none of the rooms offer a view of Sakurajima; you have to go to the rooftop observation deck to catch a glimpse from a specific angle. The hotel is quite a distance from the central station, which is inconvenient if you have large luggage. However, downstairs there's a food street, shopping, and a supermarket, so everything you need is readily available.
GGuest UserIt took a long time to choose a hotel in Ibusuki, and there were very few pictures and information about Xiu Sui En. However, after seeing netizens commenting that its kaiseki cuisine is its specialty, as foodies, we decided to book this hotel with the mentality of giving it a try, and the result! Really like it!
Service: Regarding the service, it is really a detail that only traditional Japanese hotels have. After we checked in, a pair of waiters came to pick us up and take us to the hot spring (private hot spring only costs about 100 yuan) and take us there. The restaurant (you must try the food, it is exquisite and delicious), the most surprising thing is that my slippers (fur slippers) were scorched and wet by the rain when I entered the door. I even jokingly asked my husband if they would see that my shoes were wet. Then help me dry it, otherwise I will have to wear wet shoes again the next day and end up going out the next morning! It was really dried (because one of them got smaller and shrunk hahaha, so it was definitely dried), and when we asked for any service, they would not ask us which room we were in, their waiters would remember us and serve us directly. We have arranged everything. Having said so much, we still have to experience it ourselves, haha.
GGhassan Ahmad Hussein MasriArt Hotel Kagoshima offers a very positive stay overall, largely thanks to its outstanding staff, who consistently went out of their way to assist and make guests feel welcome. I strongly recommend requesting a room with a view of Sakurajima—one of Japan’s most active volcanoes—as waking up to this dramatic landscape is truly priceless. The hotel’s location is also very convenient, with easy access to nearby bus routes. While the rooms are comfortable, the building is clearly dated and would benefit from significant renovations to better match the quality of service.
GGuest UserWe ended up in a magnificent corner room with a view of Sakurajima - possibly the best room in the hotel - but only after a struggle. On arrival, we were told that our Standard King room was double-booked and we would have to move after one night to a smaller room. The hotel blamed the mix-up on Trip.com. Since we had booked almost two months prior and had arrived first, this didn't wash. We pressed our claim and the result was good. A lovely, modern room with exceptional facilities - including a private sauna - and magnificent view.
But it speaks poorly of the hotel's customer service that it took some determined push-back to achieve this result. The hotel's initial attitude was that the we should lose out over a mix-up that had nothing to do with us. A first-rate place, if you can trust the booking.
KkeyorkThe hotel's location is excellent, right next to the planetarium. The airport shuttle stop is just a minute's walk to the left when you exit. The hotel is quiet, clean, and has a great design. The room size isn't huge, but it's perfectly sufficient for a solo traveler. The only downside is that breakfast is a set menu with no drinks, and it got a bit repetitive after four days. Overall, it's great value for money, and I recommend it!
GGuest UserThis was my first trip to Kagoshima, Kyushu, and your hotel's setting was absolutely stunning, offering distant views of Sakurajima volcano. The hot springs within the hotel also have excellent water quality, especially the open-air bath where you can gaze at Sakurajima. If the weather is good, you can even catch the sunrise around 5:30 AM, truly experiencing the majestic power of nature! The hotel's buffet breakfast lived up to its reputation and was definitely worth the price! Plus, there's a free shuttle bus service daily from Kagoshima-Chuo Station to the hotel. All in all, it's a high-quality hotel well worth staying at for anyone visiting Kagoshima.
YYaneI stayed 5 nights in Kagoshima for a leisurely trip. The hotel has 12 floors with 4 rooms per floor and 2 elevators. There was only one staff member at the front desk, but they were very friendly. Check-in and check-out were done via a self-service machine. Rooms don't have keys; instead, you get a 4-digit passcode.
**Pros:** The rooms are spacious, perfect for families, and some even have bunk beds. Each room comes with a kitchen and a washer-dryer combo, which was super convenient as I cooked dinner three times. The hotel is located between Kagoshima-Chuo Station and the Tenmonkan shopping district. Both are about 900 meters away, and since Kagoshima city center isn't that big, you can easily walk around the commercial areas.
**Cons:** As many have mentioned, the breakfast isn't great. There are only five simple options. In Japan, if you don't eat breakfast at the hotel, it can be quite challenging and time-consuming to find something outside.
