Sapporo Hotels with Bars

First off, Ivy's ambiance is subtly pleasant and very comfortable. The service, I found, was just right. The way staff would nod and smile every time I entered, that subtle presence of 'we're here if you need us' felt really good. Almost all facilities have no time limits (except for the sauna which closes at midnight), so no need to rush for showers or the gym. It's perfect for night owls to quietly explore the hotel at any time! The lounge always has replenished snacks and drinks, and public spaces are always tidied up. Of course, this assumes everyone helps maintain a quiet atmosphere. The room layout was smooth, quiet, and conducive to good sleep. The air conditioning and all other facilities were noise-free. The flowing private hot spring was the best white noise for falling asleep. The room lighting was also perfectly designed! I really slept well, so checking out at 11 am was a bit difficult. It would be perfect if check-out could be at 12 pm! Even in summer, it's not boring at all. Although the Summer Lantern Festival isn't a huge event, it's still interesting! At least it's great for photos! I'd honestly love to come back in winter to experience the incredible snowy scenery! There are two young men who speak Chinese, and they are both very nice, so language communication isn't much of a worry. Friends who have stayed here also said Ivy was a pleasant surprise, a place that feels like home during their travels. However, to be honest, the dining was neither particularly good nor bad; nothing surprising there. My review might be subjective, but I genuinely love Ivy.

Staff are remarkably friendly, well-trained, and consistently ready to assist. The breakfast buffet offers a wide and impressive variety of choices. While the room lighting is somewhat dim for reading or applying makeup—likely a deliberate design choice—the room features a pleasant view overlooking the brewery. Additionally, the mattress and pillows provide an exceptionally comfortable and relaxing stay.

The room was quite spacious, but the bathroom counter was too low. At 185cm, I had to bend over significantly just to wash my face. You can tell it's an older, established hotel, and the facilities are still quite convenient. The front desk wasn't particularly warm, and the service was just average. Also, they didn't provide any extra bottled water, which I found really unacceptable.

The hotel boasts an excellent location, right near Tanukikoji Shopping Street, within walking distance to Odori Park, the Sapporo TV Tower, and other attractions. It's incredibly convenient for both sightseeing and shopping. The bedding in the room is comfortable, and you can even see the Ferris wheel from the window, offering a great view. The staff are warm and polite. The front desk thoughtfully provides complimentary travel-sized toiletries like facial cleanser and toner. The breakfast quality is astonishing! The variety is extensive, and the ingredients are fresh. You can even DIY your own seafood bowls with sea urchin and sashimi. They also offer ramen, soup curry, and Japanese stir-fries. A particular green smoothie was delicious. The hotel has its own hot spring. Since the room bathrooms are a bit small, we mostly used the hot spring facilities for bathing during our stay, which was very comfortable and relaxing.

Location is immaculate - right in the heart of the onsen town where there are many other similar onsen hotels around and a community of guests, local residents and staff, so English is well spoken in general. We also happened to experience a local lantern lighting festival (ie. Like Tangled the Disney movie) where the town come together and provide you with a map to explore local spots and have the path lit up with lanterns - a pretty cool experience! Hotel is a little old and with the humidity of onsen facilities, therefore a little moldy at times, but I wouldn’t consider it not well-maintained/unclean. Facilities are great, lots of different types of onsen to try out and the hotel tries to keep you well-fed at all times with a lounge full of snacks and drinks, and stay-included dinners and breakfasts.

I stayed at this hotel in June. It's easily accessible from Sapporo Station, whether you take the ground-level route or the underground pass. The room was quite spacious, with two large windows that let in plenty of light. For drinking water, you can either use the glass carafe provided by the hotel to get water from the dispenser near the elevator, or simply buy water from the convenience store downstairs, which is also very convenient. The hotel offers complimentary breakfast, and you have the flexibility to choose between Japanese or Western buffet style. You can even switch between them daily – no need to commit to one. Just show your room number at the restaurant entrance. I personally found the Japanese breakfast tastier than the Western one. The Western restaurant was incredibly noisy, like a bustling market, whereas the Japanese restaurant, located on the first basement floor, was much quieter and less crowded. There's a direct airport shuttle bus right outside the hotel. As it's the first stop, the bus arrives early. You can board about ten minutes before the scheduled departure time. The driver helps with luggage, and you can pick any seat. Upon arrival at the airport, you pay 1500 JPY in cash. I've noticed the ticket price seems to be increasing, so it's best to check the current price listed on the timetable. There are also fare reminders inside the bus. During the summer, there aren't many people, and the bus runs on time. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel. I noticed that most of the negative reviews were from guests who stayed in winter, complaining about outdated facilities and high prices (over 1000 JPY per night). In summer, it's only around 400 JPY per night including breakfast, which is why I'm giving a good review. The only minor inconvenience was that you have to decide how many disposable toiletries you need at check-in, as they are provided by the front desk and not available for self-service.

Booked two rooms for our last night in Sapporo before catching a flight the next day. For a few extra hundred yuan, we were upgraded to larger rooms at the front desk, which was great value for money, and the hotel felt very new. However, the bathroom in one of the rooms seemed like it hadn't been cleaned – the hairdryer cord wasn't tidied, the toilet paper wasn't folded into a triangle, and the stainless steel showerhead and mirror were full of water stains. Apart from the cleaning issue, we were quite satisfied with the room facilities.

Fantastic hotel! Breakfast starts at 6:30 AM, and there was a slight variation in the breakfast options over the two days. The room was incredibly spacious, with plenty of space to open multiple suitcases. The view was great, you could even see the Ferris wheel. Plus, it's just a few minutes' walk from the subway station.

This hotel is simply perfect – clean, convenient, and every corner is filled with a fresh, gentle fragrance. The background music creates a sense of peace and subtle joy; the ambiance is truly exceptional! 👍👍 The room had plenty of hangers, and the air conditioning was quiet and responsive. The laundry room and ice machine were also very clean and easy to use. Both my child and I found the bedding incredibly comfortable, and the light switches were simple and convenient. Everything felt thoughtfully designed for guests – so appreciative! 💋💋 There's a FamilyMart downstairs and a Lawson right outside. Within a 5-10 minute walk (in different directions) you can find a 30-year-old subway station, coffee shops, and bakeries. The hot springs and breakfast cost extra, but they are absolutely worth it. The airport shuttle bus goes directly to the hotel, though the journey can be quite long (2.5 hours during evening rush hour). The hotel also provides a shuttle service to the JR station. Susukino is about a 20-minute walk away.

Bed is rock hard. After 4 nights, I have serious back ache, plus I'm lacking in sleep, due to how hard and uncomfortable the bed was. The pool facility wasn't fully open (it only does so in August). The last week in July at least opens the some of the outside area for use, but it doesn't fully open until August. They'd also made the 25m outside pool a wipeout/ninja obstacle course so, if you want to actually swim [do some lengths etc] then the only place you can do this was initially only open in August and even then it is now taken over by an obstacle. The indoor sections are open all year round. You have to pay extra to access the slides - not too crazy at 500 or 600yen depending on the day for unlimited access (you're given a wristband). Breakfast was ok. Wide variety of foods - some of which I wouldn't normally associate with breakfast, but still nice to have choices. Signage claims it gets busy after 8am. This is definitely not true - it's busy when it first opens at 7am and then slowly gets quieter over the 7~10 opening times (last entry at 9:30). Can't speak about weekends tho. Shuttle bus is busiest at the 5pm time slot. Overall, a ”resort” that claims to be 4 stars it most certainly isn't. 2 stars yes. 2.5 maybe. But the whole place just feels quite dated and far from the luxury expected from a ”4 star hotel”. Apart from the bed as I've already mentioned, the room was a good enough size but all the decor and controls were old. The Aircon control was worn and glitchy (button presses would turn it off etc) but at least it worked and made the room the temp we wanted. The lighting panel has had so many changes there are stickers on it to blank out buttons which no longer function - fair enough, but maybe spend a bit of money on a decent upgrade??? This hotel isn't cheap!
