The Parkside Hotel & Spa

Amazing

The location is slightly off downtown; if you have a car, it's not a problem. Street parking is fine; you can pay $19 for a night. The flat is huge for two people. The facilities are in good condition. There are two Dyson fans, one in the living room and another in the bedroom. We were here in the summer, but the temperature at night was around 12-14. It's good not to have AC in the room, and the room still feels cool enough with the balcony door and the bottom windows opened in the bedroom and the living room, even without turning on the fans. There are washing machines with a drying function in the room, which are free to use, but you must bring your detergents or buy them at the front desk. I liked the living environment and the fresh air here. As it's off the main road, I enjoyed the silent evening without traffic noise.

The hotel's location is excellent, no complaints there! The bus stop for Vancouver is conveniently located right behind the building, on the main road. If you're taking a seaplane to Vancouver, the terminal is just a 5-minute walk from the front door – super convenient! Chinatown is about a 10-minute walk, and a nearby commercial street is just 5 minutes away on foot. Frankie's breakfast, freshly made, was absolutely fantastic! The hotel facilities are a bit dated, and the hallways have a slight old-building smell. The room itself was spacious enough, but the bathroom in my room was tiny. It was difficult to move around, especially if you're on the larger side, and the exhaust fan wasn't working. The bathtub drain also had to be opened manually. The bathroom also lacked separate wet and dry areas. There was no kettle in the room, only a coffee machine. However, there's an ice machine on the same floor if you need ice or water.

The room was a bit cramped, lacking a second bedside table, and the bathroom was very tight. The bed and bedding were excellent. It is nice to find a choice of thick and thinner pillows. The Courtyard cafe needs more seating. The parking fee was high. A few negatives but they are mostly outweighed by the excellent downtown location within walking distance of everything we had planned to see and do. We would probably book this hotel again and would recommend it to friends.

Avid traveller and honest review. Booked 3 days and got an older room with a plug in oil heater and fan because baseboard not renovated. Crowded plug in and power bar behind a dusty tv to run it all. But budget so rather expected a few things. Had to stay one more day so booked online , got a better room but upon arriving found a young women passed out briefly with a “pipe” in her hand right at the entrance and because children where on premise I reported as I booked in and it seemed blown off. A man then lead said girl in who was obviously “working” but also in no shape to give consent and I said to the clerk exactly that as well that she had blood down the back of her legs, who seemed to blow it off. I am disturbed with the fact that the young woman was easily going to be victimized. So , if you are ok with that, and no guarantee of your room quality then this is the place . Horrible accommodation, no ,I’ve seen worse, and second room was certain up to par, but the neighbourhood may also allow for other types of “stays” it seems because it was absolutely blatant. But hey, it was cheap!

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! One of the highlights was the free bike rental, which made exploring the area so much fun and convenient. The breakfast was a pleasant surprise; the homemade croissants and pastries were absolutely delicious and added a delightful touch to our mornings. The billiard room was a great way for our family to relax and enjoy some quality time together. We also found the coin laundry service incredibly handy, especially during our extended stay. Overall, a wonderful experience that made us feel right at home!

Sandman Hotel Victoria

We stayed as a couple at Sandman Hotel Victoria for four nights over the Christmas holidays. The hotel looks fresh and modern, as if recently renovated, and was very affordable for Victoria given the season. Amenities include a swimming pool, hot tub, and gym, and the gym is particularly well equipped for a hotel in this price range. Unfortunately, we never had a chance to use the pool or hot tub as they were consistently crowded, and at one point two guests appeared to have poured soapy products into the hot tub, effectively turning it into their own bubble bath, which was unpleasant, and staff did not seem to address it. Another downside was housekeeping: daily service is not provided by default and must be requested each morning, which was not explained at check-in. When we did request housekeeping, towels were replaced and the bed was made, but toiletries such as soap and toilet paper were not replenished and had to be requested separately. Overall, good value and a fresh property, but housekeeping practices and monitoring of shared amenities could be improved.

I’m watching you
it was a decent stay for the price. We had waffles for breakfast with a plenty of choices of toppings. You may not get satisfied with its cleanliness. Speaking of bathrooms, you may often find some dirt on the floor or surface of the bath tub, so you may prepare flipflops ahead (you can get them at the reception too!) in addition, they return deposits for lockers in cash, just a heads up!

The room was spacious and the service was great! The hotel is in a great location for venturing downtown by foot. We parked in their underground parking while we were there. Even when we checked out, we were allowed to keep our car in the lot until 4pm (but confirm with the front desk just incase).

Great hotel great location ,stopped here many times ,parking is now better but still costs you $20 day but it is downtown ,heating in room very poor ,had to ask for additional heater .this room also had large windows with a view to the ocean which was great ,but heat loss from windows with a small portable radiator was not sufficient ,but luckily this room had an open fireplace ,so I sublimated the heat by making a nice fire ,may be a good idea for the hotel to offer to sell the logs rather than me going out to a hardware store to buy them
