The hotel's exterior and interior are incredibly stylish, which instantly lifted my spirits! Beyond being fashionable, the room was very clean and comfortable, even featuring a bathtub.
The breakfast buffet offers a delightful mix of both Thai and ********* cuisine. While the menu isn't extremely extensive, it was perfectly satisfying for my two morning meals.
It takes nearly 30 minutes to walk from Chiayi TRA Station, and though I walked since I had light luggage, I'd recommend taking a bus or taxi. However, many famous tourist spots and the night market are within walking distance. There's also a convenience store right next to the hotel.
Most of the staff speak English, and there was even someone at the front desk who spoke a little Japanese, which made my stay very reassuring! I'd definitely want to stay at this hotel again if I visit Chiayi.

Chiayi is a quiet town on the edge of alishan mountains, as such there are not many major shops and eateries around. South Urban is a luxurious hotel standing in the middle of the quiet town. The popular food and night market are within 15min walking distance from the hotel (there is u-bike stand just opposite the hotel, but there were no bikes available when we headed out in the evening).
The hotel staff were generally friendly, but there are not many amenities available to guests. There were only hair dryer and bedroom slippers available. The hotel did provide two bottles of water, and there is a water dispenser at the lobby if guests need more water.
Other tourist attractions within 20-30 minutes walk around are prison, Hiroki village, railway park.

The location is only 15 minutes from our destination, making it a great spot.
The space is spacious, making it convenient for us to add another person. The extra person cost $600, which was very convenient for us. The extra bed is a mattress and includes breakfast!
Breakfast offers both Western and Chinese options. The only downside was a power outage around 8:20 AM, which was very inconvenient while packing.

This time I stayed in a windowless double room. The room's lighting was very bright, but because the bathroom partition was frosted glass, leaving the bathroom light on while sleeping made it too bright, and leaving the hallway light on was also too bright. If all the lights were off, I'd probably trip and fall if I got up to use the restroom at night. I couldn't get a good night's sleep for two nights because of the lighting. I suggest the hotel provide a nightlight for this room type.

The room was very clean and soundproofed really well. This was our first stop in Taiwan, and it left a fantastic first impression! It's great value for money, and the front desk service was excellent; they didn't treat me any differently just because I'm from mainland China. The location is perfect, right near the night market, which is super convenient. I had some food waste from eating out and nowhere to throw it away, and the staff even helped me dispose of it. If I ever get the chance to visit again, I'd definitely stay here! I checked my photos and realized I didn't take any of the room, just a picture of the table when I was eating in the lobby, haha.

Because I am not Taiwanese, I am not familiar with the address of Taiwan. The address was wrong at the beginning, so I couldn't find it in Chiayi that night and I was very panicked. But then I still arrived by taxi smoothly. The environment was very comfortable, and I checked in that day, in addition to our other room, there were guests. Forgot to ask how to call it, it was a male employee who greeted us and was very enthusiastic. I knew that we had been looking for a long time and hadn't eaten dinner yet. I helped us order takeaway from the outside. He knew we were going to Alishan the next day, asked about the time we were going to leave, and prepared breakfast in advance for us to eat on the road, called a taxi for us in advance, and did not delay the plan at all. Stayed for two nights, the mood was very relaxed, the farm environment was very comfortable, everyone was very friendly. The ducks on the farm will fly to the second floor in the morning, which is amazing. There are also wood products, but unfortunately I can't take them away. I saw that the address has been updated during the evaluation today. I hope I will have the opportunity to go again in the future. I like this farm and Chiayi very much. I hope you all meet are safe and happy.

GGuest UserThe room was clean and comfortable. This time I stayed in a mountain view room, and the scenery outside the window was excellent, allowing me to enjoy the beauty of the misty mountains. Both the hot pot for dinner and the breakfast were delicious. The location is also very close to the Eryanping Trail.

Breakfast is buffet-style. There are no small shops nearby. In the evening, you can order hot pot from the reception, which is quite good. The shower pressure is strong and the water is hot, making it very comfortable.

The shuttle service to visitor centre was very frequent and Hotel staff were very helpful and obliging. It's a good location and starting point fior the forest trail walk. Starbucks as lobby lounge was a bonus.

GGuest UserGreat stay here! Good value for Alishan. Location was fine, relatively close to Shizhuo and Fenqiqhu by car and close to a 7/11. It’s tricky to reach by public transport, you’ll most likely need a car. Advice would be to go to Hotel Indigo and drive up from there, it’s narrow but fine. The double room was lovely, really relaxed and cute. Staff are direct but helpful, not much English but very helpful with any questions. Ask her for the location to go to for sunset, it was AMAZING, about 10 mins drive from the b&b. We missed sunrise due to clouds but the sunset made up for it. The breakfast was good with good variety for Alishan, coffee excellent. It’s a chill “cabin in the woods” vibe

AA-OreoOur stay in the family room at Fenqihu Hotel truly exceeded expectations! The room was much more spacious than I imagined; we could spread out our luggage with plenty of room to spare, which is a huge plus for families traveling together. The beds were incredibly comfortable – I fell asleep instantly, getting that much-needed relaxation during a trip 😌.
What I loved most was how clean the entire place was. There was no dampness or stuffy smell, which is quite rare and impressive for a mountain area. It was also very quiet at night, ensuring a perfect night's sleep. Waking up to a full mountain view outside the window, with super fresh air, felt like an instant recharge 🌄.
The staff were also very friendly and approachable, patiently helping us with any questions we had. Plus, the location is incredibly convenient; it's just a few minutes' walk to the old street, making it super easy to enjoy local food and take photos.
Overall, this hotel is highly recommended for travelers looking to relax and conveniently explore Fenqihu. It's absolutely perfect for families, and I would definitely love to stay here again!

おおとーたんAlthough the accommodation fee is a bit high, the hotel's proximity to Alishan Station is very convenient for exploring after check-in. The hotel seems to have been recently renovated, as it was very clean. The room I stayed in was spacious, had a bathtub, and the water temperature and pressure were excellent. Breakfast is included, but it's served at an off-site partner restaurant near Alishan Station, shared by several hotels. The quality of the food is decent. With a check-out time of 11 AM, you can leave your luggage in the room, take a stroll around Shuiping, and still make it back in time for the 11:50 AM mini train to Chiayi.

GGuest UserThis place is overpriced for what it is. It was the most expensive accommodation we have stayed in Taiwan, and by far the worst. Of course you are paying for stunning location in the national park, and apparently all Alishan accommodation is similarly overpriced/run down, however there is no need to charge so much (other than to boost their profits of course). The hotel is dated and run down. Room was dark and dinghy. The bed was so uncomfortable - rock solid mattress and awful pillow. The bathroom was not clean, but hot water was great. WiFi was mostly good. The breakfast looked and smelt so bad they we couldn’t even try it. But we had an amazing time in Alishan and the hotel was perfectly located to base ourselves and get some rest, so don’t expect luxury, but appreciate the convenience.

SStrongzhongThe hotel is in a tourist community next to the visitor center, just a few minutes down the steps. It's also close to the amusement park shuttle bus terminal, the shopping street, and the small train station – the location is absolutely fantastic. The room was a bit small, and the bathroom had a Japanese-style tub. The decor and facilities felt quite old-fashioned. What was unacceptable was that the WiFi on the fifth floor didn't work at all. I could only pick up a signal from the second or third floor, but even then, I couldn't get online. I informed the front desk, but the person who came couldn't fix it either.
