This hotel was in a great location, being just on the edge of the town centre. The main town centre is just a short walk away, although there are some hills to walk up. The train station is also not far. There are restaurants, cafes and pubs literally next to this spot which is great.
The room was decently clean, but my main issue was how thin the walls are. You can hear people talking in the corridors. The reception staff were all great.
They have AC and heating which you can control, but it is a little bit complicated to use. There’s a hairdryer in the room and you can request an iron. There’s no desk in the room, but what I like is that they have a water tap in the reception area.
For a budget option I would recommend.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights for visiting my congregation at Durham university. My first impression was the man who welcomed me at reception is really polite and provided me a service with a great service mind and attitude. In fact, the cleaner that my mom and I met during mistakenly went into the wrong room also nice and friendly to me. I would select this hotel again if I ever visit Newcastle and definitely recommend others!!

Great location next to millennium bridge with easy access to Newcastle quayside.
Reception, lobby and bar all very clean and modern.
Room was ok - some patches on walls, marks on bathroom walls, black mould around bath - was acceptable just needs a bit more attention and modernisation.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Especially Sam on reception. Went out of his way to help resolve an issue not related to hotel.
Had dinner at hotel which was very nice and good value.
The only downfall was the cooked breakfast was lukewarm, with bacon cold.

Very well located in the heart of Newcastle. The service was excellent. The gym was small but for everything I needed.
Breakfast is on the pricey side, but very generous. In addition to the buffet, there’s a wide selection of freshly prepared dishes. If you’re a meat lover, the full English breakfast is definitely worth trying.
The rooms are decent, though for this price point, you might expect a bit more luxury.

The room View is amaizing its what it says on the tin however if you are a sensitive sleeper there is a pump that goes all nightfrom the near by dock. You would assume the room is sealed to all types of noise from the outside.
The bathroom is not great at all small and rusty shower pipes
No robes or slippers inthe room- atleast say when booking so that you know what to expect.
Breakfast ok- unfortunately some flies wouldn’t leave our table alone
Hospitality great, they changed our bedding both nights
Overall- the worst Hilton I have stayed in and such a Hilton fun but this trip taught me it’s probably just the name.

The location is super easy to find. You just walk a short distance straight out of the train station, and you're there. Once you're at the door, just ring the bell and say you're checking in, and they'll let you in. The two young ladies and a gentleman at the front desk were incredibly enthusiastic and helped with all our questions, often personally showing us where to go. You pay a £5 deposit for the key card, and luggage storage is free with a dedicated, very secure room for bags. The kitchen is fully equipped, and there's a lounge area with sofas and tables. I used to charge my phone and power bank there at night. Of course, each room also has outlets, but I found the lounge more comfortable. I stayed in a 6-bed dorm, and since it wasn't busy these days, there were only three of us in total. Everyone was quiet, so getting rest wasn't an issue. The bed was a bit soft, which my old back and neck aren't used to, but it was fine for a few nights. The toilets and showers are separate, and completely segregated by gender, which is better than other hostels, and everything was very clean. All in all, I liked it and will definitely stay here again next time.

Amazing
GGuest UserExcellent stay at the Dakota in Newcastle. Very professional and friendly staff at check-in and the grill. Quality of the room was fantastic, had everything we needed
GGuest UserExcellent location, very near to the train station. Places to eat and see were a short walk away from the hotel. The Angel of north was a 15 min drive. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great too! We had an amazing time using the spa facilities aswell. Would definitely recommend
GGuest UserStaff seem friendly and welcoming enough. For the price of the stay for a city location it’s cheap.
Only complaint I have is about the shower gels/ shampoo. My advice would be to take your own as you only can get a ‘trickle’ of liquid out at best. This is an issue that needs addressing for sure.
GGuest UserPerfect location for exploring the city. Right next to the train station. The hotel looked after our cases so we could enjoy more time exploring. Room was spacious. Staff were friendly and helpful.
11863528****The room was very spacious, with two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. It was clean and tidy, and the shower had good water pressure. The front desk staff were enthusiastic and helpful. It's only a 5-minute walk to the train station. However, the front desk didn't hand over my passport when I checked in, which caused some delays during check-out the next morning.
GGuest UserBooked a room away from the lift. Gave us a room next to the lift. Went down to see ifcwe could get it changed as we wanted a quiet room On check in we requested this so obviously next to the lift facing the stack is not a quiet room. Next room was directly above the hotels air conditioning unit gave up as obviously the receptionist was having a serious customer service melt down especially when we went out 10 minutes later and she called over ..is that room OK for you? Obviously not as the air conditioning unit screamed all night long we just said yes as what was the best room going to be ?? Certainly will not be back thanks to the totally piss taking receptionist
GGuest UserEverything about our stay was perfect from the room to our food we had staff were friendly and social able even when we go to bed there is no noise in corridor l think we have stayed about 5 times and each time perfect.
GGuest UserI stayed due to having an early morning appointment at The Freeman Hospital. The hotel is about 12 minutes walk from West Jesmond Metro Station and the walk from the hotel to the hospital took me 30 minutes in the snow, so probably 10 minutes less on a more normal day - 5 minutes by taxi probably. I am very impressed given that the hotel is billed as just a 2 star one. I would guess that the lack of a 3rd star will be largely down to there not being lifts, not to my second floor room in the main building anyway - potentially a deal-breake, especially if your visit is Freeman related. My room was every bit as comfortable as a Premier Inn one for example and in it's cheerful contemporary way a lot more attractively decorated. I stayed on 4th Jannuary - and the temperature was -5 outside ! The room was a bit chilly when I arrived but a good fan heater had already been put in there to supplement the normal central heating. It was not the hotel's fault that the shower room was never brilliantly warm! The shower was excellent though and the room was very well equipped. I did not try the breakfast; £13.50. Staff were helpful. I'll stay there again and not just for going to the hospital!
GGuest UserI booked this for my Grandaughter and I to attend an appointment in Newcastle at 1.30pm and also a concert in the evening at the arena.
Arriving well before check in at 3pm, the receptionist kindly allowed us to park in the hotel car park thus enabling us not to have to move the car from the metro station opposite later. This was a great help- thankyou.
We checked in after our appointment and got our key for room 23. It was nice and cosy with the heating on and extremely clean.
I did struggle to turn off the cold tap fully in the bathroom but my Grandaughter sorted it...maybe needs some attention from a professional.
After getting changed, we headed back up town on the metro where we enjoyed seeing Rick Astley.
It was quite late when we returned hungry but the hotel was fine with us ordering a McDonald's delivery from Kingston Park. All in all with breakfast included in the price, we had a super time. Cheers!
GGuest UserGood location with free parking and about a 15-minute walk to the city centre. The price is reasonable and includes a breakfast box for each guest.
The experience could have been better if the room facilities were maintained and cleaned to a higher standard.
