We were there for the first time. The grounds are huge and well-maintained. There are plenty of photo spots. If you plan to come, dedicate the whole day.

It's great; the crowds aren't too overwhelming, and there are plenty of quiet spots for hiking, making it suitable for everyone! It's especially wonderful for succulent plants!

Xiamen Botanical Garden is definitely worth setting aside half a day for! This time, I chose to enter from the South Gate and exit from the West Gate, and the overall route was quite smooth. After entering, I first went to the succulent plant area. There were many varieties of cacti and succulents, with unique shapes, making for great photos. Then I went to the Rainforest World, and luckily, the misting started during the misting session. The swirling mist created a wonderful atmosphere, and combined with the surrounding tropical plants, it felt like walking into a forest – a must-see spot in the entire botanical garden. Next, I went to Tianjie Temple. The surrounding environment was serene, offering a different feel from the tropical rainforest landscape. Finally, I headed towards the Bell and Drum Cableway from the West Gate, which conveniently combined the botanical garden visit with the cable car ride. Overall, the park is large, with a rich variety of plants, and different areas have their own unique characteristics. It offers both natural scenery and great photo opportunities. I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and allowing plenty of time for your visit. We highly recommend entering from the South Gate and exiting from the West Gate. Combining this route with the succulent plant area, rainforest world, and bell and drum cable car offers a great experience and is definitely worth visiting when in Xiamen!

It's beautiful, but it's only for those who enjoy exploring, taking photos, and are in good health.

In the scenic area, the main succulent parks and rainforest zones are more popular, and indeed they can be seen less frequently in Hong Kong. The attractions located in the city center are worth a visit.

You can experience that misty-forest vibe here—it’s super dreamy! Towering green trees wrapped in drifting fog look utterly ethereal. If you happen to catch light streaming through the gaps between the branches, the Tyndall effect appears, and it feels like you’ve stepped into a fairytale—absolutely gorgeous!

A succulent garden that feels like stepping into the desert

Xiamen Botanical Garden Succulent Plant Area
The Succulent Zone whisks you straight to the desert! Home to nearly 3,000 species of succulents, it showcases supersized cacti, bizarrely shaped living stones, and even the tortoise-pattern kapok—famously dubbed mainland China’s "No. 1 Turtle." The area also features three dedicated exhibition halls (the Cactus Pavilion, the Succulent Pavilion, and the Forest Succulents Pavilion) — a must-visit for succulent lovers!
  • Quick tip: Mosquitoes love it here—don’t go pushing through the brush in shorts, or your legs will instantly be polka-dotted with bites!

European-style Flower Garden

Step into the Flower Garden and switch straight into “European vacation mode.” The garden spans about 5.7 hectares, inspired by Canada’s Butchart Gardens, with vibrant flowers, two European-style cottages, and a charming little fountain at the entrance. Every snap looks like a magazine cover~ Highly recommend wearing a white dress for your photos—it’s absolutely gorgeous!

You can enjoy a panoramic view of Xiamen from above, but unfortunately the weather wasn't great, so it was all gray. However, the cool weather was very comfortable. But since there was no glass enclosure, we encountered bees flitting around.
