"I've stayed at the Broadway Mansions several times, but I never knew they had a rooftop observation deck. I was lucky enough that a hotel staff member gave me a tour of the rooftop, explaining the history and construction of the Broadway Mansions, as well as pointing out the surrounding neighborhood and buildings. It's incredible to think this building is supported by thousands of wooden piles. I'm sure the young Spanish architect must have taken inspiration from the construction of Venice, the Italian 'city of water'."
