"Regular visitor to Penang, about 5 times per year.
First time staying in this hotel and I must say it is the best in terms of location, especially for foodie like me. Yummy is everywhere once I step out of this hotel.
Only downside, there is no bedside power point to pluck in to charge my phone. So every time a notification tone comes in, I gotta get out of bed to go check on it.
Other than that, all is excellent.
Attach a couple of photos on the most popular food just along the street outside the hotel."
"The hotel has a good location. The room is medium-sized, decent enough to stay in. The bathroom amenities are nice — the shampoo and shower gel smell good and seem to be of good quality. However, there’s no toothbrush provided, and only one thin, old towel that’s been used for quite some time, though it was clean enough.
I’d deduct points for cleanliness, as it seems they only clean the frequently used areas such as the bed, table, and floor. The shelves and drawers still had dust, and the bedside table was also dusty. In my room, the sofa had a very strong unpleasant smell, like old urine, with visible stains — I didn’t dare to use it. There was also a strange smell in the room, not quite like perfume, and it took a while for my nose to get used to it.
Overall, it’s acceptable for a short stay, but there’s definitely room for improvement."
"I had a pleasant stay at this hotel. I've always wanted to try this Hotel since i was a child, because i once sent my mom for course. The staffs were all so friendly, i've got a free upgraded room. They have an amazing breakfast spread (better come down early because the foods are plenty!). My kids (and myself) enjoyed the pool. Definitely a worth visit. They have decorated a beautiful kolam too!"
"JEN Penang Georgetown: Central, Seamless, and So Worth It 🌇✨
Tucked right beside 1st Avenue Mall, JEN Penang nails the location game-smack in the heart of Georgetown with everything at your doorstep.
We booked the family room, which came with a comfy sofa bed, a bidet-equipped bathroom, and a bathtub for those post-walk wind-downs. The buffet breakfast? Generous and delicious. But what truly stood out was the service-warm, proactive, and personal.
They even WhatsApped us pre-check-in to see if we needed anything extra. And the cherry on top? A free late checkout at 2pm, no questions asked.
✅ Prime location
✅ Family-friendly rooms
✅ Thoughtful service touches
✅ Buffet breakfast bliss
✅ Seamless digital check-in
Verdict: A must-stay. Already planning our next visit."
"Room was small but clean, cozy and comfortable. The only thing to note is that the room isn’t very soundproof — we could hear people passing by the corridor and doors closing loudly at midnight many times. Parking was challenging. Great location to nearby attractions and shops. Overall great 👍🏻"
"The hotel is located just opposite Komtar and is very close to a lot of eateries, restaurants and coffee shops. The room is very clean and bathroom toiletries are quite complete, as well as iron n ironing board, hair dryer. All the staff are very friendly n helpful n always greets with a smile. Buffet breakfast spread is very nice too. Totally enjoyed our stay there. Will definitely stay there again during for our next visit."
"The check-in process was quick. The reception staff on duty were very friendly. The room was quite okay and clean. Facilities are minimalist. Daily rooms housekeeping are available. The location is quite close to Komtar."
"I recently stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Penang, Batu Ferringhi, and honestly, I’ve never been so disappointed with a Hilton property.
The room we were given was dusty and had plaster bagworms (household casebearers) almost everywhere; on the curtains, the ceiling, and even one crawling on the bed. When we called reception to report it, they offered to change our room but said they couldn’t give us the same setup (we needed two single beds since I was traveling with a friend).
We then asked for housekeeping to at least clean the room. When the staff member arrived, even he was shocked by the number of insects and said he had never seen them before. He called the reception himself to report how serious the issue was. and only then did they suddenly manage to find a similar room available on another floor.
Since it was already close to midnight, we agreed to move. Unfortunately, the new room was smaller, still dusty, and although there were fewer bagworms, we still saw some near the curtains.
Overall, the whole experience left a bad impression. The location is good, and breakfast was excellent, but the cleanliness and response to the issue were unacceptable, especially for a Hilton brand.
I truly hope the management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the pest and housekeeping issues because the potential of this hotel is there; but the current state doesn’t justify the price at all."
"Love the design of the hotel. The room is huge by Penang standard and comes with lots of carpark. We had a really comfortable stay at Sho. The cons is the location which is located slightly away from the Center. The water pressure in the shower is sometimes too low. These are minor problems. Definitely will visit again"
"The deluxe room was spacious, room is clean and non carpet (which we like it very much). Toilet showering area was big too. Along the corridor, there is a water cooler, so good for top up water daily as many times as you like. No need to buy mineral water..breakfast quality is good. Variety is limited though. The restaurant staff services are excellent as all of them are cheerful and polite. Our hotel views are facing the Komtar - The top..nice view. Will stay here again if we come to penang in future"

Great
CChunnuanhuakaikaixindaolaoI really liked the hotel's distinctive style and its rich sense of history. This was the priciest hotel on my trip to Malaysia, and also the one I was most looking forward to. Overall, I felt it offered good value for money, despite a few minor drawbacks.
Firstly, the front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming during check-in, but unfortunately, they didn't speak Chinese, which made communication a bit challenging. Thankfully, a Chinese-speaking service was available via phone later on.
Secondly, the room was very spacious, particularly the bathroom, which was incredibly roomy. The double vanity sinks were convenient, but the twin beds were surprisingly small and felt completely out of proportion with the otherwise large room.
Thirdly, the hotel's ambiance was excellent and very quiet. The sea view from our room was beautiful, and the infinity pool was unforgettable. However, staying in the Victory Annexe meant we couldn't access the Heritage Wing's pool, which prevented us from fully enjoying all of the hotel's facilities and scenic views.
Fourthly, the hotel's location was superb. It's right by the sea and also very close to major central attractions, making it convenient for sightseeing and exploring local culinary delights.
Fifthly, the hotel's breakfast was fantastic, offering a wide variety of dishes with high-quality ingredients. The ice cream was particularly delicious!
A special thank you to the hotel for the thoughtful welcome gift. If I visit Penang again, I would definitely consider staying here.
AAnonymous UserExcellent Family Experience at Parkroyal Penang Resort
Our recent stay at Parkroyal Penang Resort was truly enjoyable and memorable. From the moment we arrived, every staff member — from the parking guards and bellmen to the café, restaurant, pool, and housekeeping teams — was genuinely friendly, helpful, and welcoming.
Special thanks to Ms. Elita and Ms. Hema for their warm hospitality during check-in and clear explanation about the resort facilities. Appreciation also to Ku Irham, who patiently showed us several room options and helped us choose the most suitable one for our family. The view from our room was lovely — I could watch my child playing in the pool below and still enjoy a nice beach view.
Grateful to Mr. Alfizan, the bellman, for his kind help with our luggage, and to the Chinese housekeeping lady (Level 2 near the kids’ pool) for her thoughtful reminder to keep our balcony door closed when monkeys were around — such great attention to detail!
We also truly appreciated the complimentary birthday cake for my wife. It was a wonderful gesture that made our stay extra special.
Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices, room was clean and cool, and the atmosphere throughout the resort was relaxing and family-friendly.
Highly recommended for families looking for a warm and welcoming beach resort in Penang. We’ll definitely come back again!
GGuest UserI recently stayed in the Diva Suite and absolutely loved the experience. The room was spacious, very clean, and well-equipped with thoughtful amenities. I was especially impressed to find a steamer and a Dyson Airwrap in the room, which my girls thoroughly enjoyed using.
Housekeeping was excellent. Every time we stepped out, the room was tidied up, sometimes even multiple times a day. It was such a nice feeling to return to a neat and refreshed room each time.
The service was equally commendable. Staff members were friendly, approachable, and always ready to help. A special highlight was when they surprised my girls with a tiara and sash delivered to our room. It made the stay even more memorable and special.
Overall, our stay in the Diva Suite was delightful and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, excellent service, and those extra thoughtful touches that make a trip unforgettable.
WWishiwashiThe hotel is not in the most central area of George Town, and there isn’t much nearby, so you will mostly need to travel by Grab. Other than that, the hotel is sparkling clean and new. There’s also a nice coffee and tea corner near the reception. I felt relaxed and enjoyed my stay.
AAnonymous UserIt is more budget friendly hotel for families. It's basic, but adequate.
Reception is too big and void of furniture and decor.
I was given a corner room with door opening to the side away from corridor, though it made room smaller, but it was good as it prevented light spill underneath the door, and noise from noisey neighbors.
Only partial view of the sea, as very high rise condos infront of hotels took all the prime estate.
The shower is too near the glass panels and hot water doesn't work the maintenance guy have to come on 2 days to get it right. I hate the cold shower.
The AC is cold, newly renovated, but noisey.
TV channel is not the best, get to watch very old movies, like 60s.
Breakfast is Buffett style, not the 5 star hotel type, but still a good spread.
Didn't use the pool but it's fun for families.
Getting to the beach is thru lifts on the 7th floor, which brings you down to 1st floor to beach, but access is only from 8am to 8 pm. Signage is no good.
Wouldn't stay here again, though cheaper, but too basic, it's a watered down Holiday inn.
EEric07We had a pleasant stay at OZO Hotel Penang. The breakfast spread was delicious with plenty of variety, and the location is very convenient — close to many attractions and eateries.
The service was warm and attentive, making our stay even more enjoyable.
One small downside: the TV kept hanging and the Wi-Fi could be stronger. Hopefully, this can be improved for future guests.
Overall, a good stay and we’d be happy to return!
GGuest UserThe hotel location is good; close to the famous temple Kek Lok Si and Penang Hill as well as many coffee shop, food market and small restaurants.. but the hotel looks worn out and only the very basic are provided. The hotel does not provide breakfast.
Lobby area has an unpleasant smell (coming from the drainage just outside the hotel main entrance. Hope they could do something about it as it’s not appealing at all for the hotel.
We stayed for 2 nights but no housekeeping was done. No hand towels, only 2 bath towels that looks very old though still clean.
Staff at the reception counter were quite helpful.
On the whole, for the price it’s still worthwhile.
CCHONG CHING3 Days 2 nights stay at Chulia Mansion Georgetown
We booked 2 superior rooms for 2 nights via trip.com for Rm644.40 or Rm161.10/room/night . We checked in to Room 207 and room 215 upon arrival.
Once the door of Room 207 was opened, a bad odour full of stingy smell appeared. We did not care to take action at that moment. We went out for good food. After coming back to hotel to rest, we tried to check whereabout the smell coming from, and to take action by closing the toilet door from that moment thru the night. Sad to say, the stingy smell was still there all night long, and I could not have a good night sleep thru the night while surrounded with bad odour.
On top of that, the toilet shower rubber hose was cracked and water rushed out during our shower in day time.
The following day, I went to the lobby to tell the hotel lady, all the facts and request to change to another room. The lady checked the hotel computer system and told me that the hotel was fully booked a night before once housekeeping was done, they will give me a new room. That was roughly 12 noon. So, they tell me to go back to stay in room 207 to rest, and to wait for her call.
At 12 something , one man knocked on my door and sprayed our room 207 with air freshener, changed the hose and left.
By 1pm, I was uneasy and I went to the Lobby to follow up with the change of room. The same lady was watching something like movie her table, I asked her why nothing done to call and inform me to change to a new room. She raised her head and looked at me and said that the housekeeper informed her that there was nothing wrong with the room.
At that moment, my temper was up and I told her firmly and repeatedly that i want to change to a new room.
The next thing happened was that we were checked into room 315. We were lucky and happy that room 315 has no bad stingy smell. However, the shower hose in the room 315 was rosak then again I told the lobby about the facts.
So, moral of my stay is to follow up with the LOBBY all issues and defect in the hotel room that I feel unhappy with.
The whole purpose of the stay is to get happiness and relax by paying cash that worth the value, and not wait until check out to complain.
Last but not least, room 215 facing the street also noisy due to the sound and noise coming from motorcycle , cars and vehicles during daytime outside street, and also live band, loud music and pub. You can also hear music and live band coming from the roof of Chulia Mansion building itself.
Finally, I think if you are a light sleeper this hotel definitely is not your choice.
JJohnsonYeohGreat service from the reception, especially Mr. Sri
Restaurants, Chulia streets where most pubs are located are all within walking distance.
A bit tricky to find the hotel carpark as the entrance is under a shop house pillar with BIG word Honda at the side wall
Recommend to walk to Red garden food court, nice food and vibes with performance
GGuest Userthis hotel is good overall, but when we arrived, they told us that we didn't have a booking with them and they couldn't locate our booking and details. the room was also said to be taken, and they are waiting for a cancellation in order to get our room. There is a lot of confusion among staff. some visitors were told to leave their rooms once they have entered. we waiting 1 hr 30 min to get our room. so check in was at 4.30pm. parking was also very inconvenient, as we had to park at the basement, which was impossible to even get one if you came into the hotel late and a T&G card was also needed to get validated before leaving the hotel if we wanted a free spot. Room was very spacious and clean. the tea and coffee was hard like its never been changed.
