Perfect for a leisurely stroll, sampling street snacks, and experiencing Chengdu’s culture. We bought some of the tea pastry and tea leaves and shop for some panda souvenirs there. We have our lunch in one of the Sichuan cuisine restaurant in the narrow alley which the food is pretty good. There is a cat souvenir shop named Mao Mao Yao which sells lovely handmade ceramic cat product. We bought some fridge magnets before going back to our hotel.

It felt like a marketplace as old as the history of Wuhechi itself. It seemed that the scenery of the Ming and Qing dynasties would not differ fundamentally, except for the goods sold here. There were particularly many panda-related shops. If I hadn't already filled my suitcase with Starbucks mugs and other items, I would have bought more related merchandise. I was very intrigued by the "Fei Chang Bao Da Chong" (large intestine stuffed with raw scallions), so I tried one. It seems China isn't very good at getting rid of the gamey smell from small intestines and large intestines. However, the strong flavor of the raw scallions did manage to mask the odor. Curious about the taste of Chinese oysters, I bought a plate of grilled raw oysters. They contained a lot of garlic, so the garlic flavor was strong. Other items that caught my eye included grilled pig brains, grilled rabbit heads, and grilled rabbits.

Jinli Street is one of those places in Chengdu that’s worth seeing, especially if it’s your first time in the city. The old-style architecture, red lanterns, small shops, food stalls, and narrow streets give it a very different feel from the modern side of Chengdu.It can get busy, so I found it much more enjoyable earlier in the day or later in the evening, when you can actually take your time and look around. The street is quite touristy, but I still enjoyed wandering through the side alleys, stopping for snacks, and taking photos of the details along the way.It’s not somewhere I’d spend an entire day, but it makes for a nice couple of hours combined with the nearby Wuhou Shrine. The lanterns and traditional buildings are especially beautiful after dark when everything is lit up.A good place to wander rather than rush through with a checklist.

We were here in August 2026.
It seemed like it was always crowded in the evenings, no matter the day of the week. Not only tourists but also locals come here to relax, eat, and spend time with family.
We were here both during the day and in the evening. It was very beautiful and colorful. The large number of people only adds to the atmosphere of this place.

What a fantastic place! We had an overnight layover and were wondering if we'd make it to see the pandas. But we did! In just four hours. We saw a lot of the enclosures, except for the museum. So don't get lost, be sure to buy a ticket. We also took the bus. There were almost no lines.

I highly recommend visiting. I booked through Tripcom. Passports required. We were there from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The pandas were active.

The pandas are very cool and cute, and both adults and children will have a great time, but it is advisable to come early in the morning when the pandas are active; after lunch they all sleep.

Highly recommend to visit this place if you are in Chengdu. Jiuzhaigou is about 4hours ride from Chengdu City via their high speed rail and car so for travellers with time to spare I suggest going a day early to stay at the hotel/resort near the park entrance and head over early in the morning before heading back to Chengdu in the evening. It is easy to travel around in the park as they have sightseeing bus which stops at the major spots so you don't really need to walk alot making it suitable to bring your elderly parents or young kids along.

I don't see the point in buying a ticket without the bus turning off. The distances are vast! The nature is beautiful. Using the bus, you can really see the park in one day. There are a lot of people, but the lines move quickly. You board the bus, and it takes you non-stop to the highest point of the U-shaped valley in about 30 minutes. You'll end up on the left side or the right, it doesn't matter. Take in the sights, then take the bus down to the food court in the center of the valley, and then transfer to a bus that will take you to a part you haven't been to yet.

A wonderful park, definitely worth a visit. Allow two days to explore all the attractions so you can easily explore each location. Getting around the park is well-organized—signs, stops, everything is very clear.
