This was my first time staying at the Somerset Hotel in Phra Ram 9. It's just a 5-minute walk to Central Rama 9, which wasn't far even with a stroller and a baby. The Phra Ram 9 MRT station is only about 2 minutes further. The hotel offers a shuttle service to these two stops every hour on the hour, but honestly, the distance is so short that walking is more convenient for scheduling. 

Since we were traveling with a baby under two, we pushed the bed against the wall. The floor under the bed was surprisingly clean and dust-free. 

The hotel's pool has a 50cm shallow end, which is perfect for little ones. It's great for swimming at any time except between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM when it gets quite sunny. 

The hotel breakfast was decent, nothing spectacular, but it did have suitable options for our baby, which was very convenient.

Concierge, front office are friendly, even the housekeeper. Everyone is always ready to assist whenever guests have inquires. Housekeeper left notes to our room so we can get them to clean the room as we put up DND sign at room door. Hotel is definitely not the newest compared to others but still well maintained.

The hotel is beautiful, bright, and contemporary. We couldn't check into our room immediately upon arrival, but we were able to leave our luggage at the reception desk while we went into the city.

We had a spacious family room with a king-size bed and a bunk bed. The mattresses on the bunk bed were incredibly hard, offering no give at all when you sat on them. This took a lot of getting used to and wasn't very comfortable. The double bed was also firm, but slightly less rigid than the bunk bed mattresses.

The restaurant on the 15th floor is good, with a decent variety of options on the menu. The view from the rooftop terrace and inside the restaurant is absolutely stunning! The swimming pool is on the same floor as the restaurant, also offering fantastic views. The only downside is that there are only a few sun loungers available.

The coffee shop on the ground floor is nice and convenient. The coffee is delicious, and there's a wide selection of drinks. They also have croissants and other treats to go with your coffee. Prices are a bit higher than average. The hotel offers a shuttle service that runs hourly along a specific route, dropping you off at two BTS stations and the ARL (Airport Link), among other places. You can easily walk to the ARL station, it's about a 10-minute stroll, and you'll even pass a good breakfast spot along the way.

The hotel is a bit further from well-known malls like MBK and Icon Siam, as well as Chinatown and Khao San Road. However, if you take the ARL and then transfer to the BTS, you can be in Chinatown in about 35 minutes. A 7-Eleven is located opposite the hotel, and there are many street food stalls on the street outside. Many locals pick up food there or even sit down to eat.

The gym is good, open until 9 PM, and has air conditioning.

The rooms were cleaned daily, and the beds were made. They always neatly arranged our nightwear on the bed in decorative shapes.

Aside from the hard mattresses, we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. We would definitely recommend it.

Excellent! Very convenient for getting around, with a tuk-tuk shuttle service to the subway. I stayed for a week, and the overall hotel service was great. The room had cutlery and knives, so it was fine to cook simple meals. The Japanese-style rooms have bathtubs, making it feel like coming home to Tokyo. The washer-dryer combo was very convenient. There are two 7-Elevens right outside. I bought some beer and drinks for the fridge and enjoyed the view every day – this time from the 16th floor, and the scenery was amazing! The infinity pool was also great; my little one went for a swim every day. The gym was quite comprehensive too. All in all, I'll definitely stay here again next time.

The location is great, there's a 7-Eleven right across from the hotel, and a fantastic grilled food stall (the dried beef and chicken wings are amazing) at the nearby alley entrance. There are also many massage parlors around (though some don't seem very 'pure'), so we opted for the ones near the main road intersection, which were excellent! 

The hotel offers a very convenient shuttle service that runs until 11 PM and is available on demand. The staff during this stay were also wonderful (they helped us achieve our 'zoo legend' goal)! The tip was definitely worth it... so happy!

I highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

The luggage service was very welcoming, and there was plenty of parking. The hotel is located on a small street, making it relatively quiet. Traffic on Friday was convenient, though a bit congested. The room was very spacious, perfect for families with children. It was well-equipped with a kitchen, cookware, microwave, toaster, balcony, drying rack, and washing machine, making it very convenient for living. Both the living room and bedroom had TVs.

We stayed here as a family of five (2 adults and 3 children) during our layover from Nha Trang. We had a large suite with multiple bedrooms. Everything was clean and nice, and the service was good. They met us at the airport, brought us to the hotel, and checked us in quickly. They also recommended places to go for a walk. In the morning, they took us back to the airport. The transfer was available for an additional fee.

The room was excellent, and the location was great too. There's a small convenience store and a KFC downstairs, plus it's super easy to catch a taxi. The front desk staff spoke good English. Highly recommend!

This hotel exceeded my expectations! The facilities are excellent, the views are fantastic, and the room is very spacious. It even has a smart toilet. The gym equipment is top-notch. The pool was still being cleaned and not open at the end of March.

As someone who has stayed across multiple CapitaLand and Somerset properties over the years, I usually have a fairly clear benchmark of what to expect in terms of layout consistency, operational standards, and guest experience. Unfortunately, my recent stay at Somerset Haizhu Centre Guangzhou fell noticeably short of that brand standard.

Starting with the physical condition of the unit, the overall upkeep feels tired. The tiles and grout in particular were visibly dirty in several areas, which immediately gave the impression that the property is overdue for a proper refresh or renovation. For a serviced residence positioned under the Somerset brand, this is quite a basic maintenance expectation that was not met.

The apartment configuration also felt oddly thought through. A two bedroom unit designed for four guests, yet only one bathroom is provided. At the same time, there are three televisions in the unit, which feels disproportionate and not particularly practical from a guest usability standpoint. It is one of those setups where design decisions seem disconnected from actual guest needs. If this is the actual configuration, it would be more honest and guest friendly to label it plainly as a “两房一厕套房” rather than a “两房豪华套房” that implies a higher level of convenience than what is actually provided.

Operationally, there were several gaps in service delivery. At check in, there was no clear explanation of facilities, no proactive sharing of key information, and even basic essentials like the WiFi password were not provided until I had to ask for it myself. These are small touches, but they significantly affect the overall arrival experience, especially for a serviced residence.

Housekeeping provisioning was also inconsistent. For a four person booking, only three towels were provided. Similarly, there were only two glasses in the bathroom area, and no cutlery or basic kitchenware setup was provided, which is usually standard across Somerset properties. These inconsistencies make the stay feel more like a partially serviced apartment rather than a fully serviced residence.

On the facilities side, the gym not operating twenty four hour access is another miss, particularly for business or long stay guests who expect flexibility. The in room amenities also need attention. Hot water in the shower was only reliably consistent for about ten to fifteen minutes before turning noticeably cooler, which makes longer showers inconvenient.

There were also very limited charging options in the room, with no proper USB or conveniently placed plug points for modern device charging needs. This is increasingly a basic expectation in serviced accommodation today.

Overall, while the location and brand affiliation might set certain expectations, the execution at this property does not reflect the usual Somerset standard I have experienced elsewhere. In its current state, it really feels like the property requires a significant operational reset and likely a refurbishment to align back with brand positioning and guest expectations.

This hotel was perfect for attending Chen Chusheng's concert. It's just one subway stop from University Town, so getting back to the hotel quickly after the show was a breeze. A big shout-out to Guangzhou's excellent management; the order was fantastic! The hotel's location deserves full marks – it's right by subway exit A, super close! 😁 The higher floor offered great views, and the room was spacious. The breakfast had delicious bread and waffles 🧇, tasty freshly made rice noodles, and plenty of fruit. We enjoyed the views while we ate. Both the floor staff and the ground floor attendants were very friendly. If you have time, you can also walk along the greenway on the island. The only downside is the price, around 500 a night, but overall, it was a good experience.

The apartment is very spacious. Main room has ensuite bathroom with bathtub. Toilet with electronic bidet seat. Second bedroom has a super single bed, we paid for an extra bed. Second toilet in kitchen is clean. Well equipped kitchen. There is washing machine and dryer as well. Just that the carpet is a bit worn out and initially there is a weird smell upon entering the apartment but after opening the windows & airing the place, all is good. Aircon and shower works well. Overall is great for us. There are security at lobby which is great. Staff are friendly and professional. Location is great. Steps away from VT101, walking distance to Grand View mall, many shopping malls and metro station.
