GGuest UserThe hotel's location is very close to the airport, with plenty of convenient shuttle services. The room was clean and quiet, ensuring a good night's sleep. There's a large supermarket, a burger joint, Starbucks, and convenience stores nearby, making it perfect for guests transferring flights the next day. The breakfast was Western style and a bit monotonous, but to my surprise, the restaurant had a hot water dispenser. This was very convenient for making tea or instant noodles if you're not a fan of Western food.

XXueyingjingI booked this hotel for a layover in Los Angeles. They offer a free airport shuttle, but be aware: there are two Hilton Garden Inns near the airport. For *this* one, you need to call the hotel for a pickup, whereas the other one doesn't require a call. After collecting your luggage, head to the 'hotel parking' area and look for the red sign. Call the hotel, tell them which terminal you're at, and provide your name and phone number. They'll send a car to pick you up within 15-30 minutes. (Initially, we got on a Hilton Garden Inn shuttle at the red sign, only to find out it wasn't the correct hotel when we arrived!) Bottled water in the room costs extra, but there's complimentary iced water available in the lobby. There's also a small convenience store. Rooms don't come with toothbrushes, toothpaste, or slippers. About a 10-minute walk away, there's a commercial area with an In-N-Out Burger and a 7-Eleven. Remember to book in advance, as prices tend to increase closer to the date.

GGuest UserMy wife and I visited Catalina Island for our 28th anniversary — our first time back since before we were married in 1997. We chose the Catalina Canyon Inn specifically for the pool, jacuzzi, on-site restaurant, and shuttle service. Their website is very nice and seemed like a perfect match for the occasion. Unfortunately, very little matched what was advertised. Shuttle: The shuttle was not waiting at the Catalina Express port when we arrived on the last ferry Saturday evening which was unexpected. Four of us were left waiting in the dark for about 20 minutes until the other couple called the hotel. The driver was friendly and apologized, but this set the tone for the weekend. The shuttle was consistently unreliable throughout our stay. They tell you to call the driver directly, but he often didn't answer. You'd end up having to call the hotel instead, and the shuttle only seemed to come after someone went inside and told the front desk in person. At one point we waited 45 minutes. Some guests got frustrated and just decided to walk, but the hotel sits at the top of a steep hill — not a realistic option, especially for older guests like us. Their website suggests the shuttle runs regularly, but that was far from our experience. Restaurant: We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 PM Saturday and were turned away, even though their website says they're open until 8:00 PM. We had to rush down the hill to find dinner to-go in town before the shuttle stopped running at 8:45. It was a shame we didn't even have time to stay and eat on our anniversary or face having to trek up that hill. The next morning I mentioned this to the restaurant owner, who insisted they closed at 8:00 and that she was there. She then told us the restaurant closes at 2:00 PM on Sundays — so dinner there that night wasn't an option either. She was very friendly though I must say. On Monday we finally had breakfast before checkout. The food was mediocre and didn't match the glowing reviews at all. The prices were also odd — $12 for mozzarella sticks, $20 for nachos, but only $11 for pulled pork sliders, which you'd expect to be the pricier item. The pricing just didn't add up. While we were there, another couple was turned away at 1:30 PM because the restaurant closes from 2–4 on Mondays. We could feel their frustration. Jacuzzi: The jacuzzi we were looking forward to was covered up and converted into a gazebo with chairs. At first we couldn't find it but yea. No mention of this on the website. Room issues: The soap dispenser in the shower was empty. The front desk told us we can mention it to housekeeping, who didn't come until after 5:00 PM. We got the soap and a couple fresh towels. The towels themselves were thin and didn't dry well overnight so fresh ones were sorely needed to get at least one shower in with soap before we had to leave the next day. The TV didn't work at all, and the microwave was unplugged — though I was able to fix that myself. The hotel also doesn't offer complimentary coffee, which is standard at most hotels we've stayed at for half the price. The good: The staff was friendly, the bed was comfortable, the A/C worked well, and the balcony was a nice touch. The room was quiet. Bottom line: The website gives a very different impression than what you actually get. Between the unreliable shuttle, limited and unpredictable restaurant hours, missing amenities, thin towels, and no coffee, this was not the anniversary experience we hoped for. I'd recommend staying somewhere closer to downtown so you're not dependent on a shuttle and stuck with limited options. I think we need to redo our anniversary. It was a miss for sure.

LLyn R.Awesome front desk service and staff! Just stayed over for the weekend to attend a Dodgers game. Picked this hotel because other closer hotels had a $40-$60 per night parking fee, while this one was reasonably priced at $15 per night I believe. I wasn’t expecting a brand new hotel, and it was really nice. Only junk thing was our in room fridge was either broken or not plugged in so I had to throw away a cup of fruit but not a big deal. Will definitely be staying here every time I come to town for a game.

HHappy FITGreat stay, with cool Southern California beach culture design in room. Great service and close to nice renovated shopping mall with nice giant Macys and nice plenty of restaurants and Ralph’s and Whole Foods supermarkets. Approx 15 minute trail jog to the beach with views of the awesome looking ocean front homes.

PPaul JohnThe hotels location was very convenient to the area I was visiting. Many shops, restaurants and recreational opportunities were available within walking distance. The breakfast restaurant offerings were great, Fresh, plentiful, and good tasting. The only negative thing about the hotel. Is there overnight parking charge.

GGuest UserWe extended our stay a few times, and each time we were required to make a $100 deposit for incidentals ( to be returned in up to 7 days if not used). Since we did not make any incidental or other charges, this repeated charge only drained our account and held the $100, making our hard-earned money unavailable to us. The property said it was company policy. The company says it's the policy of independent owners. Regardless, what is the purpose of repeatedly holding an extra $100 if guests want to extend the stay and there are no incidental charges for the current stay? If you must charge the $100 which we feel is necessary every time, how about a policy of one $100 charge for the first stay and replenishing or extending the $100 incidental charge (i.e., don't charge an extra $100 for an extension if the first $100 wasn't used or only partially used). Just let the original $100 roll over to the extended stay (if there were no incidental charges during the original stay) or only replenish the charge up to $100 if part of the original $100 was used (i.e., only charge enough to make $100). This way, your guests who are supposed to be your most valuable asset won't be made to feel they are being nickeled and dimed just for the convenience of an unfair or inequitable policy no one in authority appears to want to address. To address my concern would only take a small one-time programming change -- don't you agree

ZZoeVHOur experience at this hotel was extremely mixed. I’ll list the good points first, and then mention issues we had, as they were quite significant. Pros: The location was great, close to the airport (about a 12 minute drive) and also right next to a huge mall with a Target and many restaurants, several grocery stories, Starbucks, etc. Super convenient for flying in/out of LAX and also getting around various locations in LA. The aesthetics of the lobby are generally nice and it seems like it’s been renovated recently. There’s also free (and delicious) chocolate chip cookies in the lobby around 5:30 each evening. The front desk staff are generally helpful and responsive. Finally, to the cons: Most of our gripes are related to the hotel’s housekeeping service. The housekeeping service at this hotel was the worst I have ever experienced. We constantly had to call and ask for basic necessities the weren’t replenished: no wash clothes or hand towels, no bedding for the couch bed, several times they failed to take the very full trash out, etc. Worst perhaps of all was how they never changed the paper, ice biner, or glass cups in the room. We used the glasses on the first night of our stay, the next day they took one of the dirty glasses and left the other, never giving us cleans ones or taking the dirty glass for the entirety of our 5 day stay (see photo). They also didn’t replenish the paper coffee cups. At the end of our stay we shared our dissatisfaction with the front desk manager over the poor housekeeping services and she was very understanding and apologetic and there was any way she could make it up to us, which was very appreciated.

TTaoshengyijiuThe hotel is located in an area where Chinese people are concentrated, and there are many Chinese restaurants nearby. If you drive here, you need to tell the waiter at the front desk that the parking fee is $12 a day, and you can enter and exit the parking lot by swiping your room card, which is very convenient. The breakfast is not bad, you can eat in the restaurant, or you can take a large plate back to the room to eat.
