Hotel near Lujiazui Area,Shanghai
No. 3 of Luxury Hotels in Shanghai
The J Hotel Shanghai Tower provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. The J Hotel Shanghai Tower is an ideal choice for travelers who want to take in the sights and sounds of Shanghai. With Shanghai Railway Station just 9km away and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport only 18km away, transportation is very convenient. Being just minutes away from Lujiazui Metro Station allows guests to explore the city with ease. Famous local attractions The Huangpu River Cruise, Duoyun Academy Flagship Store and Shanghai Natural Wild Insect Kingdom, can all be reached with a short walk. After a long day of sightseeing, guests can retire to the comfort of the hotel. This Shanghai hotel provides parking on site. Our guests rate this hotel as one of the best hotels for cleanliness. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling with families.

"I originally thought I might see snow on the Shanghai Tower during the cold snap, but it turned out to be a no-show… So, let's talk about the hotel itself. I feel like 1/3 of the room rate goes to the high-altitude view, 1/3 to the breakfast and fitness facilities, and 1/3 to the room itself. [Rose emoji] Perhaps it was because I had seen a lot of negative reviews before, which lowered my expectations, so staying at J Hotel was a pleasant surprise. First of all, the artwork and decor aren't as tacky as some claim; maybe the front desk is a bit questionable, but the entrance and elevator lobbies have a very distinctive Shanghai style. 🏠 The room is huge, and I personally feel the space is a bit wasted. Sixty-something square meters, and it's already a suite configuration. The bathroom is ridiculously large, even having a dedicated vanity table – you could practically wall off another room! There’s a desk in the room, which is super practical for us 'workhorses'. The welcome fruit was also generous; my son said it was the best strawberry he'd ever eaten 🍓. I specifically checked the details and cleanliness, and the overall maintenance is excellent. The 2-meter king bed easily fits three people, but! The bed frame is so high, combined with the mattress, you have to 'climb' into bed, which isn't very friendly for elderly guests or those with mobility issues. 🍞 The breakfast is definitely in the top three of all the hotels I've stayed at. Chinese, Western, and even Japanese options are available, with excellent quality and presentation. The buffet plus à la carte style offers a wide range of choices; you'll want to try everything, but one day isn't enough. Compared to this, the breakfast at Park Hyatt falls a bit short. 🏊🏻♂️ The pool is on the 84th floor. You need to go to the 85th floor to change and then take the elevator down. The facilities are relatively basic – no children's pool, hot tubs, or sauna, and the pool itself isn't standard-sized. Of course, the view is absolutely breathtaking. Compared to the pool, the gym facilities are much better. It's equipped with a full set of Technogym equipment, including stair climbers, ellipticals, rowing machines, and treadmills. Other machines are also comprehensive; it feels like you could train for a Hyrox event here. 🤵🏻♂️ Service: This is the hotel with the highest staff-to-guest ratio I've ever experienced. No matter where you go, you'll see staff members, and they are all very professional. Jinjiang truly has deep pockets. Comparison: The high-altitude hotels in Lujiazui (the 'Lujiazui Three-Piece Suit') actually have pretty similar views. Of course, only at J can you see the World Financial Center like in Picture 1. Waking up and drawing the curtains, you'll definitely get a case of megalophobia [laugh-cry emoji]. J is the newest and most expensive, and its hardware is undoubtedly the strongest – you get what you pay for. Park Hyatt and Grand Hyatt Jin Mao are a bit older. Park Hyatt is more minimalist and elegant, and the rooms are still well-maintained. Grand Hyatt Jin Mao's rooms are slightly cramped, especially the ceiling height, which is a significant drawback. However, if you can get it for around a thousand yuan, it's still worth staying at."

"The Bulgari's location and facilities are top-tier in Shanghai. The fact that breakfast is available until 1 AM is a huge advantage. The service was also excellent, with Cecilia being particularly warm and welcoming. My only minor complaint is that while there was a pillow menu, none of the three I tried were particularly comfortable. It would be great if they could add some firmer, thicker pillows in the future."

"Completely exceeded expectations! Two days before my arrival, the hotel staff proactively reached out. The culture and tourism butler, Ethan, was incredibly detailed and thoughtful in his preparations, even going as far as to ask if my stay was for an anniversary or birthday – that really surprised me. Learning that my birthday was approaching, he specially arranged a small, tasteful decoration. It wasn't overly fancy or gimmicky, just simple and cozy. The check-in process was also very comfortable. A kind lady from the library promptly brought warm tea and snacks, and Ethan personally guided me through, soothing any first-time jitters. I had read reviews about having to go up and down stairs and was worried my mother might find it inconvenient, but after experiencing it, I found the room layout to be very sensible. It was far better than the previous hotel, where I could get lost without even climbing stairs. Upon entering, the subtle aroma was pleasant, and the entire space was bright and clean. The pavilion room was converted into an audiovisual room, the minibar was well-stocked, and when I turned on the TV with the White Rabbit comic series, my mom immediately fell in love. Breakfast was à la carte, with perfect portions and fresh, delicious food. The pre-meal croissant was incredibly crispy. Returning to the room, there was another surprise! Besides the small cake on the first day, there was a proper cake on the second – they are truly so enthusiastic! All the staff members were smiling, friendly, diligent, and responded very quickly. Ethan, especially, replied to messages in seconds. I've experienced other culturally themed hotels converted from old buildings in different cities before, but none have impressed us as much as this one. That evening, my mom immediately decided to change our flights and return here for an extra night after our remaining itinerary. If we didn't have other plans, we would have extended our stay directly. Overall, the value for money is incredibly high. We had a wonderful and unforgettable night here, and we will undoubtedly choose this place again on our next visit to Shanghai!"

When guests have some time on their hands they can make use of the onsite facilities. This Shanghai hotel provides parking on site. Our guests rate this hotel as one of the best hotels for cleanliness. For guests traveling with families, this hotel is consistently one of the most popular choices.

"These days, city getaways are all the rage, so I brought my family from downtown to stay at the Amanyangyun. It truly feels like a vacation even though we're still in Shanghai. Overall, the staff's service attitude is excellent, especially those at breakfast and the bar who were proactive, service-minded, and very thoughtful. The spa massage was also incredibly relaxing, and my masseuse, Helen Xu, was very friendly. The day before we left, we met a female staff member named Ms. Wan at the Nan Shu Fang. She gave us a detailed tour and explained the history and stories behind the Nan Shu Fang, leaving us with a wonderful impression. We'll definitely bring the family back if we have the chance. The only downside was the noticeable airplane noise on Friday night, though we didn't experience it the day before. However, given its proximity to the airport, it's probably unavoidable."

Hotel near Qingpu Zhujiajiao/Oriental Land,Shanghai
No. 5 of Luxury Hotels in Shanghai
The hotel is nestled in Shanghai's Zhujiajiao, an ancient town with a history of over 1,700 years, often referred to as “Shanghai’s Venice” and the “Hollywood of the Shanghai Suburbs.” Its design embodies a fusion of expertise—spearheaded by Malaysian architect and interior designer Mr. Chi-Kong Fung, involving hundreds of master artisans specializing in classical Chinese architecture, and brought to life in collaboration with Australian lighting design team The Flaming Beacon. Offering a wide range of facilities, the hotel features courtyard-style guest rooms, an all-day dining restaurant blending local Shanghainese and Cantonese flavors, private dining rooms, a snack bar, a library, a wellness pavilion, versatile event spaces, and an indoor heated plunge pool—all designed to provide guests with a comprehensive, high-quality stay experience.

"The hotel boasts elegant and tranquil garden architecture with an ancient charm, featuring the Five Phoenix Tower and an old-fashioned stage. Facilities: The hotel has a swimming pool and spa. I enjoyed a 60-minute traditional Thai aromatherapy massage, which was incredibly relaxing. The staff were also from Thailand, and their techniques were skillful and the pressure was just right – a perfect score! Cleanliness: The room was very clean and spacious! Service: I especially want to mention the butler, Angel, whose service was exceptional. She helped me with my luggage from the moment we entered, showed us to our room, explained the layout, and introduced me to the many complimentary activities offered by the hotel. She resolved any issues promptly! The only downside was the small TV in the room; everything else was excellent. Breakfast was a set menu, which was quite plentiful. We also had afternoon tea. While the selection wasn't extensive, one of the older restaurant staff was particularly kind and helpful, even taking photos for us. Noticing my elders liked grapes, she prepared an extra portion for them – so thoughtful and considerate! 👍 The hotel even gave us a welcome gift when we checked out, which was so nice! 😃 Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay! By the way, the hotel also offers travel photography services, including free makeup, and I'm extremely happy with the photos."

"I've stayed here several times now, and stepping into the hotel still feels magical every time. It's like entering Mickey's world, where you can leave all your fatigue behind, forget about work and studies, and just let go of stress. You're instantly transported to a wonderful world! This time, my family decided to check in first and then buy half-day tickets. Since the kids aren't early risers, entering the park after 3 PM and staying until closing time was perfect for us! The hotel room was very clean and had a fairy-tale vibe, and the view of the small garden was truly delightful. Playing in the park until closing, then taking a boat back to the hotel, and sleeping in until we naturally woke up felt absolutely wonderful!"

"Overall, my stay was quite good. On the day I checked in, my ring mysteriously disappeared. After searching for a long time with no luck, I called Niki from customer service to help me look, wondering if it had fallen into some crevice I didn't know about. We finally found it inside the pillowcase—it must have slipped through a small tear in the fabric. I never thought to look there since I hadn't opened it. I really appreciate Niki helping me search for so long. The hotel might be a bit older, as some facilities had issues. I communicated with Max, and he ran back and forth multiple times to resolve the problems. While the hotel's hardware might be fixed, good service often makes all the difference, and this return visit was definitely a good experience thanks to the staff. On a side note, I have a small suggestion: for the area near the front desk that seems like an executive lounge for afternoon tea, when guests enter, please don't be so rigid and tell them they need to go sit on the sofa outside in the lobby because it's closing. It would be more acceptable to explain that it's a paid service or requires consumption to enter. I was with elderly family members, and older generations are used to being frugal; we often don't tell them how much things cost when we travel together. The communication style was a bit awkward and uncomfortable."

"Service: The best hotel I've ever stayed at! No exaggeration. I've tried many hotels in Shanghai, including Shangri-La (Jingan, Pudong), Ritz-Carlton (Pudong), Peninsula (Bund), Shanghai Tower J-Hotel, Grand Hyatt, Kempinski, Disney hotels, Westin, Kerry Centre, Sheraton... Apart from Banyan Tree, which I'm not interested in, and St. Regis, which I tried in Sanya, and Waldorf Astoria, which I haven't had the chance to visit yet, I've checked out almost all the hotels my child and I were interested in. Honestly, W truly impressed me. From purchasing the package and booking the dates in advance to phone communication, the staff consistently displayed genuine warmth and professionalism. They meticulously noted all my requests, ensuring accurate internal communication. On the day of arrival, I wasn't feeling well and my tone wasn't great. Yet, the front desk staff listened attentively and with incredible patience throughout. This level of internal training deeply impressed me. There was none of the arrogance I've experienced at the Peninsula or Ritz-Carlton; instead, it was full of understanding for the customer. I actually want to come back and stay again soon! 😂 I even joked with the hotel staff, asking if this excellent service was because I booked a suite. 😝 But then again, I had suites at Shanghai Tower J-Hotel and Ritz-Carlton too, and the service there was... well, let's just say it was different. At the W, it's not just the front desk and lobby; even the staff helping with the elevator and the cleaning crew in the basement are incredibly cheerful and sincere. I love this fresh, uplifting energy and team. Facilities: The facilities are clean and hygienic, and every room has a bidet toilet seat, which is a nice touch! Environment: Very clean, and most importantly, the view across the river is absolutely stunning. Hygene: The hygiene is excellent, very clean. And their response time is super fast. If I had to pick one downside, it would be that the配套 facilities at Magnolia Plaza are a bit too low-end, haha. They really don't match the W's standard."

The Mandarin Oriental Pudong Shanghai (Shanghai Pudong Wenhua Dongfang Jiudian) is strategically located in the center of Lujiazui Financial Area, overlooking Shanghai's Huangpu River, just a few steps away from several popular attractions such as the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Jin Mao, and the World Financial Center. The nearby Lujiazui Station Metro Line 2 connects you to the rest of Shanghai. The hotel offers 210 comfortable and well-designed guest rooms and suites. Other amenities include a private spa and skin care rooms, high-end meeting rooms and a banquet hall.

"Overall, the service quality met my expectations for a Mandarin Oriental property. However, there was a minor issue. Before checking in, I specifically called the front desk to inform them I was traveling with a child and absolutely needed a non-smoking room (and one without any lingering smoke smell). The front desk haughtily replied that all rooms are non-smoking according to regulations and there was no need for a special request. Yet, as soon as the elevator doors opened, the entire 12th floor hallway reeked of smoke. It was clear housekeeping was trying to fix the problem, as they had air purifiers in the hallway, but it didn't help much – it was quite embarrassing. After opening and immediately closing my room door, a strong smoky smell still wafted in. I had no choice but to go out for dinner and wait for the smoke smell to dissipate."

LLiulianjunaibujideyemaThe Kimpton Qiantan is nestled in the heart of the Qiantan CBD, boasting a prime riverside location with captivating views of the West Bund skyline. It's also quite conveniently located. Our room featured a minimalist modern style, with dark tones giving off a sophisticated vibe from the bedroom to the bathroom. The retractable TV and minibar were particularly fun, and the fireplace-like lighting under the TV cabinet along with the automatically extending desk added a touch of futuristic flair. The four-poster bed had a very modern aesthetic, and the bedding was quite comfortable. The room also came equipped with a Geneva sound system and smart home controls. The bathroom showcased a dark-toned design, but was a bit small, featuring a single basin. The amenities were from Blooom Aromas and had a pleasant scent. The smart toilet was located on the other side of the hallway, making it slightly less convenient to use. The hotel's best feature is undoubtedly its rooftop infinity pool overlooking the Huangpu River. On summer evenings, at sunset, it's the perfect spot to take in the stunning river views, with the West Bund opposite and Qiantan on this side, as the river flows gently beneath you. My partner and I checked in late in the evening, and the hotel staff's attentive and caring service left a deep impression on us. Overall, I would definitely return for another stay!

GGuest UserTraveling to Shanghai with my child this time, I was truly touched by Betty from Guest Relations and Zora Gao from the front desk – I just have to praise them both! Before we even arrived, Betty proactively contacted me, asking how old my child was and if we had any special requests. Upon arrival, Zora at the front desk handled our check-in super efficiently, and her demeanor was both gentle and decisive. The room itself was large and bright, with a panoramic view of the Huangpu River from the floor-to-ceiling windows. The housekeeping team had already prepared a children's toothbrush and small slippers, as requested in advance. The Dream Center for dining and the art museum for exhibitions were all within walking distance. With Betty arranging our needs beforehand and Zora handling check-in so efficiently, the entire trip was worry-free and heartwarming.

GGuest UserThe service was absolutely excellent! Every staff member deserves commendation. The room was also very tidy and clean. We booked a deluxe twin room, and the 1.5m beds were a big plus, I really liked them. The location is superb, right on Nanjing Road, and directly opposite the Daimaru department store (now renamed Shinmaru). The bathroom has a fantastic wet/dry separation and a huge bathtub, which my child absolutely loved! My only minor gripe is that the sink area was a bit small, and I couldn't find a hook to hang my toiletry bag. Otherwise, everything was perfect! I will definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Shanghai!

Located 88 meters below ground, it's a truly unique architectural marvel, recognized as one of the world's top ten architectural wonders – a definite must-see! The check-in process was incredibly smooth; we were able to get into our room before 12 PM. Every bed in the room faces the deep pit, and the balcony is spacious. From there, you can see a waterfall, a pool of water at the bottom of the pit, and the Ferris wheel, skywalk, and bungee jumping at the Deep Pit Shimao Wonderland amusement park across the way. You can even lie in bed and enjoy the waterfall view. The room amenities are excellent, with a shower and bathtub, and a well-designed wet/dry separation. Overall, the facilities are top-notch, and the breakfast is plentiful. The real-time cliff light and shadow show at night is particularly impressive and spectacular. Drawing inspiration from the 'Classic of Mountains and Seas,' it showcases unique oriental mythical stories. The butler service was outstanding. I lost my ID when I visited the Wonderland park the day before, and our butler, Bruce, was incredibly proactive in helping me search for it. He found it the very next day, which was a huge help. Many thanks to Butler Bruce!

Llatteee76Alila's facilities are top-notch, truly exceptional. So good, in fact, that you can overlook some minor imperfections. If your budget allows, I recommend starting with an open-plan room, or even better, a suite. While the standard rooms photograph nicely, the difference in comfort is night and day. My last stay was in a suite, and this time I was in a Shikumen View room. My main complaint was that it felt small. Also, the air conditioning was very noisy and problematic. Set to 27 degrees Celsius, it would continuously blast heat, becoming uncomfortably hot. Below 27 degrees, it would switch to blowing cold air. I'm not sure if this is specific to this room type. On the plus side, the in-room amenities, toiletries, and bedding were all comfortable and without issues. Now, for a bit of a complaint: I found the service staff's quality to be inconsistent. The front desk staff who checked me in seemed poorly trained. She asked if I absolutely needed twin beds. I thought it was too early for rooms to be ready, so I said a king-sized bed was fine. Then, she suddenly asked about a suite. I asked how much the upgrade difference would be for a suite. She started listing various suite types. Honestly, she could have just told me the price difference for the most basic suite. I interrupted and asked about the most basic suite, and she said '800'. Since I booked for two days, I had to follow up and ask if that was per day. She replied, 'Yes.' Seriously? At moments like this, shouldn't the answer be pre-empting guest questions and combining it with my booking info to provide all the details at once? I've stayed in hotels a lot, and she's honestly the worst communicator I've encountered. I then said, 'Forget it then.' This is where it got classic. She asked, 'What do you mean, forget it?' I said, 'I don't want to upgrade.' She replied, 'Why not?' Why? Why? Why? Obviously, because a 1800 difference for two days means I don't have the money! I'm broke, is that okay? I genuinely laughed. I just said, 'Because of the money, I don't have it.' Seriously, I was speechless, hahaha. On the other hand, the staff guiding people nearby were all excellent – quick with tea, pretty, and had sweet smiles. The check-out process the next day and the concierge at the entrance were also fantastic. It's just this one front desk person that I'm truly baffled by. For a hotel of this caliber, to have a front desk like that... I've also seen many complaints about the breakfast. I chose the Japanese set with salmon, and it was delicious. The xiaolongbao were also very good. Honestly, it was fine, just not as wide a variety. The front desk service truly pales in comparison to other hotels, like The Puli, it's a world of difference.

GGuest UserOur stay at Banyan Tree Shanghai was truly exceptional from start to finish. We celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary there, and the team made it incredibly special for us. They thoughtfully decorated our room and surprised us with cakes and fruits as a kind gesture. We truly appreciated the effort — it made our celebration even more memorable. Our room was spacious, beautifully maintained, and offered breathtaking views of the city skyline. We especially loved the in-room mini pool — the highlight of our stay was simply relaxing and enjoying a bath while taking in the view. Tales Rooftop Bar was another standout experience. It’s the perfect place to appreciate the stunning city and river views while enjoying drinks. They offer both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, and we were pleasantly surprised with complimentary snacks as well. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of Western and Chinese options. Aside from the buffet selection, guests can also order freshly prepared dishes like noodles and eggs, which are served hot — a wonderful touch. The staff were incredibly professional, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. They made us feel valued and were always ready to assist with a warm smile. The overall ambiance of the hotel is peaceful and relaxing, making it a perfect retreat despite being in a vibrant city like Shanghai. We highly recommend Banyan Tree Shanghai and look forward to returning in the future.

TTianxinbaobeizhuIt was Chinese New Year again, time to visit the Yuyuan Lantern Festival. This year, the festival started from the North and South Plazas of BFC. To ensure we could rest early after seeing the lanterns, I decisively chose to stay at the St. Regis on the Bund, right next to BFC. I had originally booked the Shanghai Style River View Room (Oriental Pearl Tower view), and during check-in, the kind gentleman at the front desk upgraded us to a Deluxe River View Room. It was on a higher floor and centrally located, directly facing the Pudong 'Three Piece Suit' (Lujiazui skyline), offering a fantastic view. After the lantern festival, coming back to capture the stunning night scenery was perfect for photos. Upon entering the room, the butler warmly welcomed us with fresh fruit and thoughtfully provided recommendations for nearby attractions and dining, as well as information about hotel facilities and breakfast times. It was a very considerate touch. The room was spacious, featuring both a shower and a bathtub – perfect for a relaxing soak after a tiring day. When we returned from the lantern festival that evening, turndown service had already been completed. Overall, from the hotel room to the butler service, everything exceeded my expectations and made us feel right at home.

KKentlyI've always wanted to visit The House Collective's Shanghai location. The hotel boasts an excellent location, making it easy to get around, with plenty of shopping and dining options nearby. My stay was fantastic, and I was lucky enough to have Kimber provide attentive service during both check-in and check-out. She remembered my preferences, and communication with her was smooth, efficient, and friendly. As for the room, the view speaks for itself. The linens were very comfortable, the mini-bar was well-stocked, and the shower water temperature was stable, contributing to an overall high level of comfort. The handwritten welcome card was a lovely touch, and the handwriting was beautiful! The showerhead was unique; however, the fixed height was a bit low. But standing with my back to the hot spray to relax was actually quite convenient, haha.

GGuest UserWe brought the kids to Shanghai for Chinese New Year, and the Regent Pudong turned out to be the most impressive part of our trip. On our first day, we wanted an extra bed, but were told they were all gone. We went to our room a bit worried, but then we realized that by pushing the two sofas together, we could make a really big bed. Just adding a sheet made it a perfect solution for the lack of beds. The room's view was absolutely unbeatable; we could even get our 'Shanghai Trio' (financial center skyscrapers) and Oriental Pearl Tower photos done right from our room! The only minor drawback was that breakfast was a bit simple and didn't quite live up to the price point. However, the overall stay was great, and the soundproofing at night was excellent. The kids are already saying they want to stay here again next time we're in Shanghai.

GGuest UserAn absolutely wonderful experience! The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and filled with natural light. The facilities felt brand new and were incredibly well-maintained. The staff were all very welcoming, remembered guests' names, and promptly fulfilled any requests. The Long Bar and the library were both unique and charming, and the non-alcoholic cocktails were delicious and beautifully presented. The à la carte breakfast options were also of high quality.
