GGuest User I was referred to stay at the Andaz Hotel by a friend who has lived in Shanghai for a long time. There are two points that are particularly commendable: first, the pool has a female lifeguard who is very responsible and attentive, remaining focused and diligent while on duty. Second, the hotel breakfast is quite generous, and the staff provided thoughtful service. In addition, I would like to share some other feedback. I booked interconnected rooms for four nights, hoping that our family of three would have a comfortable and pleasant stay. The room was very spacious—even beyond expectations with the inclusion of an exercise bike. However, the main bedroom TV consistently failed to connect to iQiyi and Youku, which was very disappointing and the biggest letdown of this experience. On the first night, maintenance staff found that there wasn’t even a set-top box installed, making it impossible to watch the series we were following. Although it was reconnected on the second night, during playback the TV screen would go black every few seconds. This issue persisted throughout the remaining three nights. From the second to the fifth day, another maintenance technician inspected the system. On the third day, he claimed to have spent two hours in my room and found no abnormalities (that day, I left the room for breakfast at 9:15 AM and returned at 10:35 AM, running into him in the elevator). He informed me that the TV network was functioning properly, yet the issue remained—there was sound, but the screen went blank every few seconds. We spent a significant amount of time in the hotel over the past five days due to a family member not feeling well, so we stayed in the room most of the day and only went out in the evening. Therefore, lying in the main bedroom watching anime was supposed to be one of our most enjoyable family moments. This TV issue significantly diminished our overall experience. Even though on the day of checkout, a female staff member politely offered three chocolates to my son, it could not make up for our disappointment and regret. Another major issue was that there were no towels provided in the pool changing room. I had to collect them from the front desk before entering. On one occasion, after showering, my towel fell onto the wet floor, and I had no way to get a clean replacement. Although the room was spacious and the breakfast was excellent, given the room rate of over RMB 4,000 per night, I believe there are better options in Shanghai than the Andaz. For future trips to Shanghai to visit relatives or sightseeing, it is highly unlikely I will choose to stay at this hotel again.
