The Shenzhen Venice Indigo Hotel, owned by OCT, underwent a major renovation in 2022, transforming from a Crowne Plaza to an Indigo. The refreshed lobby and public areas are quite successful. However, not all guest rooms have been fully refurbished yet. This time, I stayed in what is currently the best suite, which has just been renovated. But it used to receive a lot of complaints from guests due to the hotel's rather arbitrary naming of its room types! Forget fancy names like 'Presidential Suite,' 'Imperial Suite,' or 'Ambassador Suite.' Even 'Executive Suite' or 'View Suite' would have been perfectly fine, wouldn't they? But this hotel insisted on being different! They directly named it the 'Guest Restroom Suite.' Perhaps they wanted to state straightforwardly that this suite also features a guest restroom, but how odd does that name sound? What do you think? 😳 Perhaps due to the sheer number of complaints, this suite has finally been renamed recently! Now it's called 'One-Bedroom Suite, King Bed, Living Room, Guest Restroom'? Okay, at least it sounds much more normal now, but did they absolutely *have* to mention the guest restroom? Actually, I think it's a valid point. After all, it's a renovation of an older hotel, so even the suite isn't particularly spacious. But despite its small size, it's fully equipped; this is, in fact, a proper one-bedroom, one-living room suite with two bathrooms. Compared to the old rooms, the newly renovated guest rooms feature a significantly different style. You can tell it's an Indigo hotel the moment you step inside. The furniture and decor blend contemporary fashion with vintage elements, retaining some traditional motifs while being exquisitely refined. The choice of lighting fixtures, in particular, shows great care. Upon entering, the guest restroom is on the left, and the living room is straight ahead, with a standalone mini-bar cabinet. Complimentary Jing Tian purified water is provided, along with a capsule coffee machine, DE drip coffee, and instant coffee – a very complete selection. However, the basic tea bags feel a bit cheap. A retro green De'Longhi kettle is provided, and the mini-fridge contents are complimentary. On top of the mini-bar, there's also a golden winged lion statue, a symbolic emblem of Venice. Although the living room is compact, it still accommodates a lovely sofa set and a standard desk. Due to the limited bedroom space, there's no sofa by the window. The bed-end bench is placed near the bathtub. A wardrobe acts as a partial partition between the bedroom and the master bathroom, creating an open-plan design. The wardrobe, however, is rather small and only provides space for one suitcase. The advantage is that it opens from both sides, allowing access from both the bedroom and the master bathroom. The master bathroom vanity is spacious but features only a single basin. The hairdryer is a Dyson. The toilet in the master bathroom is a smart toilet, while the 'guest restroom' that the hotel repeatedly emphasized has a regular toilet. The artificial stone bathtub comes with a caddy, headrest, bath salts, etc. It's also a view bathtub, with the Window of the World's Eiffel Tower visible outside. However, the windows were so dirty that it severely impacted the view. Fortunately, the Executive Lounge has a terrace. The shower stall is not large but features a footrest design. Overall, despite the relatively small absolute area, all essential functions are well-provided. The renovation is quite pleasing to the eye. I look forward to all guest rooms being fully renovated soon. Special mention and praise to staff member Xiao Ao.
