What exactly is the Singapore Arrival Card (SGAC)?

The Singapore Arrival Card (SGAC) is a mandatory electronic declaration system launched by Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) in March 2020, which replaced the old-school paper disembarkation/embarkation card. It seamlessly combines your immigration clearance details with a digital health declaration, making it an essential document for every traveler heading to the Lion City.
It’s important to note that the SGAC isn’t a visa. Even if you’re from a visa-exempt country, you’ll still need to submit it before you arrive. Keep in mind that approval doesn’t guarantee entry—the final decision rests with the ICA officers at the checkpoint. Once your submission is successful, you’ll receive a confirmation email containing your electronic Visit Pass (e-Pass), which takes the place of the traditional passport stamp.

Yes, Australian passport holders must complete the Singapore Arrival Card (SGAC) before arriving in Singapore. While Australians do not need an entry visa for short tourist or business trips (up to 90 days), the SGAC is mandatory for all foreign visitors.
Most travelers heading to Singapore need to submit the SGAC, but there are a few exceptions:
- Travelers passing through Singapore without clearing immigration (meaning you're staying within the transit area).
- Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents (PRs), and long-term pass holders (like student, dependent, or work passes) arriving through our land checkpoints at Woodlands or Tuas.
All other international travelers, including those who don't need a visa (like Hong Kong SAR passport holders with a 30-day visa exemption), just need to complete the SGAC before you arrive.
How Early Can I Submit My SG Arrival Card?
Under the latest ICA regulations (2026), you’ll need to submit your SGAC within 3 days (72 hours) of your arrival—and yes, that includes the day you land! Just a heads-up: you can’t submit it any earlier than that, as the system won’t show your intended arrival date if you try to jump the gun.
For example, if you’re arriving in Singapore on January 30, you can submit your SGAC starting January 28. To keep your travel plans stress-free and avoid any last-minute hiccups, we recommend submitting your form 1-2 days before your trip.

The view from the window was great, overlooking the Singapore River, and in the morning, many people were jogging by the river. There's a restaurant downstairs, but I didn't try it, though I saw many people eating there in the mornings. Just a ten-minute walk from the hotel is a shopping mall with a supermarket and plenty of food options. The subway station is underground. This is an honest review of Carlton Hotel Singapore, where my mother and I stayed in the second week of August!
I'll summarize what I felt during my stay.
Floor: I requested a high floor when booking, but unfortunately, it wasn't accommodated, and we were assigned the 8th floor. However, the room condition was pleasant, so we didn't experience much inconvenience during our stay.
Bed Type: The room type was an Executive Room. We requested twin beds so my mom and I could sleep comfortably, and they provided a room with two beds, which was perfect. The bedding was fresh, and the mattress was soft, so we slept soundly every night.
Deposit & Cancellation Period: A deposit of $200 (SGD) is authorized upon check-in. Even if you use paid services, they are not deducted from the deposit; you pay for them separately upon check-out. It's been about 3 days since we checked out, and the deposit cancellation hasn't been processed yet, likely because it's an overseas authorization. It usually takes a few days to 1-2 weeks depending on the card company, so it's best to wait patiently.
Bathroom & Amenities: Toothpaste and toothbrushes were provided, and shampoo, body wash, and conditioner were well-stocked, which we used comfortably throughout our stay. A hairdryer was also available.
Cleaning & Refill: If you press the 'Please Clean Up' switch in the room, they will clean the room and replenish water, towels, toothpaste, and toothbrushes generously every time.
Tip for Bedding Change: If you want to have the bed sheets completely changed, make sure to place the green sign provided in the room on the bed, and they will replace them with fresh bedding.
Upon arriving at night, the magnificent glass chandelier stretching across the lobby ceiling immediately caught my eye. The high ceiling and luxurious feel made a great first impression.
The swimming pool is quite small. However, Singapore's weather is extremely hot and humid, so people were constantly in the water regardless of the time of day. It was sufficient for cooling down and chilling out lightly during the day or evening.
Gym: Across the swimming pool, there's a gym. It was clean and a simple hotel gym, perfect for a light workout.
Breakfast/Hotel Dining: I didn't book breakfast because of the pressure to wake up early to eat breakfast when traveling. Instead of using the hotel's breakfast, lunch, or dinner buffets, we creatively handled our meals with delivery food and restaurants in nearby shopping malls.
Raffles City Shopping Mall: The Raffles City shopping mall right next to the hotel was incredibly convenient! The restaurant and food court options were so good that we often went to Raffles City for our meals during our stay.
Room Service: On the first night, we arrived at the hotel around 10-11 PM and were tired, so we ordered room service. The food tasted really delicious and satisfying, but as expected with Singapore prices, it was quite expensive. The taste is guaranteed, so it might be nice to use it once for a treat!
Location & Transportation: On the map, I thought Merlion Park was within walking distance, but Singapore's August weather was hotter and more humid than I imagined, so walking was definitely not an option.
Instead, there were well-located bus stops near the hotel, and we consistently took buses to major attractions, including Merlion Park. The routes were so well-established that we got around very conveniently. When it's hot, always use public transport!
This was a trip with my mom, and thanks to the nearby shopping mall, meals were convenient. Overall, it was a satisfying hotel stay. I recommend it to anyone looking for a well-located accommodation in the heart of Singapore.FromAED 617

This hotel, formerly the Peninsula Excelsior, is divided into a South Tower and a North Tower, with the South Tower generally considered better by online reviewers. Its location is excellent, within walking distance to Merlion Park, National Gallery Singapore, National Museum of Singapore, and Fort Canning Park. Chinatown is also just a 20-minute walk away, which is incredibly convenient. Next door is Funan Mall, which houses a FairPrice Finest supermarket, where we got all our food and drinks for a few days.
I booked a standard room and specifically requested a room in the South Tower during check-in. I got room 1106, which faced the hotel, overlooking the pool and the lobby's canopy. It should have been a relatively quiet room type, but I could still hear occasional sounds from the fire station and intermittent machinery noises (not sure where they were coming from). The room's cleanliness was generally acceptable, but the fingerprints on the window glass remained uncleaned from check-in until check-out. During my extended stay, I noticed the housekeeping staff took off their shoes when entering to clean, and the room was tidied up quite well. The mattress is quite firm, so it might not be suitable if you prefer a softer bed. There were three types of pillows to choose from, but no latex pillows. The step in the bathroom tripped me three times; it was quite tricky.
Toiletries didn't include cotton swabs or combs. I had to dial 0 to request them and waited for at least an hour...FromAED 690

This hotel is conveniently located right on Orchard Road. It's just a 1-minute walk from MRT Exit 1. Plus, it's connected to Tanglin Mall on the second floor, which means easy access to a supermarket, pharmacy, clothing stores, and various dining options – super convenient! The room also has a mini-fridge. Although the room isn't huge, it's considered good value for money in Singapore.
Cons: Housekeeping only comes once every two days and isn't very thorough. On the day they did clean, I came back to find the cups hadn't been washed properly. There were also small bugs on the table (though perhaps that's common in Southeast Asia).
Overall, it's a good choice! If I come back to Singapore, I might choose to stay here again.

Overall, the room was quite small and the facilities were a bit old. The bedding was clean, no bugs or anything. However, it wasn't a duvet but more like a blanket made of a large bath towel material. Let's just say it kept me from getting cold while sleeping. The air conditioner was clunking loudly at first, but miraculously, it quieted down after I adjusted the settings – I guess I got lucky. My child left the travel adapter in the room. Several hours later, I went to the front desk, and despite my broken English, the lovely front desk staff found it for me. A quick registration and it was all sorted. The overall service was quite warm and welcoming. Staying one night was acceptable. Oh, and by the way, there's no wet/dry separation in the bathroom. If that's important to you, make sure to check before booking. Many hotels in Singapore don't have wet/dry separation, likely due to space constraints. It's within walking distance of Clarke Quay, which I recommend visiting at night – it's very close. It's also not far from the MRT station. I loved absolutely everything! It's trendy, stylish, and technologically advanced. In such a small space, they managed to fit everything necessary, even an ironing board and iron. The idea of a bathroom with a city view was interesting, and I was pleasantly surprised by the second-level loft bed for a child – it's very convenient, thank you! I think we hit the jackpot with this hotel. Very thankful that we experienced all the positives for this hotel.
What we like:
Clean. No ants nor bugs. Bedding and pillows also clean and no weird smells.
Very welcoming and polite staff at check in. She helped to distract my kids with some check in entertainment when she saw that they kept asking for my attention while I was trying to check in. Staff at Native Kitchen also very helpful and polite. They still gave a small discount even though we ate there after we checked out. Staff are also fast and efficient when we requested for more pillows.
Pool area (4 pools) is super pretty and my son had a great time playing 2 ball games in the pool during their entertainment hours. The Aqua Zumba (I think - unsure of the name) was also good and the instructor made every second fun! My girl and I loved dancing in the water to his music and moves!
Both noons also we had some free snacks courtesy of Village, at the reception area. These made my kids giddy with joy.
We were not celebrating anything but we saw reception pass out birthday favours for those that are. This is a plus point for me. It shows they make an effort.
What we don’t like:
Pool walking area is dirty in the late noon but can’t be helped as it got very crowded and it’s quite hard to clean the floor up with so many people around. Also, not enough chairs. We reached about 9am and majority taken up. We went back in the noon and also no seats. Do go early if you want to grab seats for your things. The rainfall water feature at the lazy river is also very strong pressure and might border on being painful or scary if you have young kids or are sunburnt. Some mould at lazy river walls too. Not a fan, but not something that ticks my no list.
Overall- definitely definitely definitely recommended. Room is small but you won’t be inside most of the time with so much to do in Sentosa.FromAED 830

The only slight drawback was that we were traveling with two small children, and there are only stairs at the hotel entrance, making it impossible to pull our stroller up. Stayed for 1N for staycation - just wish to decompress from work and dont wanna travel out of the country. I choose this hotel on ourpose for the high floor option and the Marina Bay view. The highlight was definitely the room and the spectacular views from the 46th floor. Watching Singapore change from day to night was beautiful, and waking up to the morning skyline was just as memorable.
The room was comfortable and the overall hotel experience felt relaxing and special, which was exactly what we wanted from a staycation. Breakfast was enjoyable too, with a pleasant atmosphere and good variety.

I arrived well after midnight, completely exhausted after my trip. If you’re arriving at Terminal 3 late at night, I personally wouldn’t recommend this hotel because it isn’t the most convenient option after a long journey. However, if you’re arriving during the day or in the afternoon, I think it’s a good choice.
Unfortunately, I ran into a small issue in my room. The TV wouldn’t turn off because the remote control wasn’t working properly. One staff member initially seemed a little frustrated and focused on explaining the hotel’s procedures. At that moment, I was extremely tired, hot from Singapore’s humid weather, and honestly just wanted to get some sleep rather than discuss the situation.
In the end, the only solution was to unplug the TV from the power socket, which the staff helped me do. Once he realized that was the only way to turn it off, the situation quickly settled down.
Thankfully, after that, everything changed. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I fell into a deep sleep almost immediately. The staff I met the following morning were also very kind, friendly, and helpful, which left me with a much better impression.
Overall, my stay had a rough start, but it ended on a positive note. If you’re arriving during the day, I think this hotel is a solid option. If you’re arriving at Terminal 3 in the middle of the night, though, you may want to consider a hotel that’s closer or easier to reach.eFromAED 652

Had an unpleasant experience with the parking as there was no complimentary parking and to make it worse, you had to park at level 2 to be eligible for the $10 overnight parking.
