Melbourne Airport Map: The Four Terminals Layout
Everything at Tullamarine runs along one line. Four terminals, one road, one landside precinct, so you can move between them without leaving the building. There is no train to the airport as of July 2026 (the Melbourne Airport Rail line is still being built), so it is all road access. T1 and T2 are joined by a covered walkway, and T3 and T4 sit together a short way south of T2. Once that shape clicks, the signage does the rest.

Melbourne Airport T1, T2, T3 and T4: The Terminal Breakdown
The Melbourne Airport T1, T2, T3 and T4 layout, it turns out, is quite simple. Unlike many other major airports, the four different Melbourne Airport terminals are connected to each other, so you can quite easily move between them if you end up at the incorrect one.
But, let’s not let that happen. Below, you can see which terminal handles what type of flight, which airlines. T2 is the international terminal, which will handle every overseas arrivals and departures.

There are a couple of things that catch people out. The first is that Qantas flies international routes from T2, but if you’re flying domestic with Qantas, you need to go to T1. The second is that Jetstar, a popular domestic airline in Australia, doesn’t fly out of the T1 domestic, but uses T4 instead.

T2 is Melbourne's International Terminal, where all international carriers will arrive and depart. Below, you can see how the terminal is laid out.
Walking Between the Terminals at Melbourne Airport
All four terminals are connected landside, so you can walk between them if you somehow end up at the wrong terminal, or are transferring from an international flight to a domestic one (or vice versa).
Adjacent terminals are a quick hop, but the longest stretch, from the T1/T2 end down to T3 and T4, is a proper walk with luggage. It'll take about 15 minutes.
Also note that the departure gates at T4 sit a bit farther from its security, so you’ll need a little bit more breathing room if you’re flying out of that terminal.
If you are parking, the free Value Car Park courtesy shuttle runs 24/7 every 15 minutes and stops at T1 and T4 (a short walk from T2 and T3). That shuttle is for car park users rather than a general terminal-transfer bus, so if you are not parking, plan to walk.

Melbourne Airport Arrivals: Where to Meet Your Ride
As you arrive at Melbourne Airport, you’ll pick up your luggage before moving out onto towards the public transport options for getting into the city. Here’s all the details you need to know depending on how you’re getting from Melbourne Airport to the city.
- SkyBus is the major public transport link between Melbourne Airport and the CBD. It has designated pickup points outside T1, T3 and T4. If you land international at T2, walk over toward T1 to catch it. One-way is $25.90 and return is $43.40.
- Rideshare (Uber, Ola, DiDi) uses set zones, marked by green "Rideshare Pickup" signs. Qantas (T1), international (T2) and Virgin Australia (T3) passengers are picked up from lane 1 of the forecourt. Jetstar, Rex and Link Airways (T4) passengers are picked up from level 2 inside the T4 Ground Transport Hub, but there’s often a longer wait here than if you were to just walk over to T3 for your ride.
- Taxis wait at ranks close to every terminal. The T4 rank is on the ground level of the At Terminal T4 Car Park. A taxi to the city takes approximately 30 minutes and runs about $55 to $65.
- A friend in a car should make use of the official Wait Zone (corner of Mercer Drive and Melrose Drive), where they have 1 hour of free parking. Then, when you're ready, they can drive across to the kerbside pick-up and drop-off lanes, which allow for a 5-minute stop.
If I’m the one doing a pickup at an airport, I would always make use of a free Waiting Zone rather than circling the airport or paying for parking. Park, wait for the "got my bags" text, and then I would drive up to the public pickup zone.

At first glance, Melbourne Airport parking can be quite confusing, but I’m here to make it easy. In short, there are five different parking areas at Melbourne Airport, laid out by how close they sit to the terminals.
- Value car parks (North and South): Value Car Parks are exactly what they say on the tin; the cheapest parking you can get at the airport. They’re open-air and the farthest from the terminals (hence the lower price), and come with a free courtesy shuttle to get you to the departure halls. Value North's shuttle stops at T1 and T4; Value South runs to the T4 Transport Hub only.
- Terminal car parks: These are the parking areas closest to the door. The T123 Terminal Car Park sits directly opposite T1, T2 and T3 via a link bridge. The T4 Terminal Car Park is about 100 m from T4. The first 15 minutes are free for both of these parking areas, which suits quick drop-offs and pickups.
- Premium car parks: These are the undercover bays inside the terminal car parks, the closest you can get to check-in.
- Valet and Qantas Valet: For a bit more of a luxurious service, Melbourne Airport also has a Valet option located on Level 1 of the T123 car park. Drop the car and someone parks it for you, leaving you with your bags to check-in.
- Wait Zone: This is a free parking area where you can wait for up to 60 minutes, ideal if you’re waiting to pick someone up.
My recommendation is to take advantage of the Value car parks’ affordable price.
Some tips to remember: Always book your space in advance to ensure you’ll be able to enter the parking area, as it’s quite busy. And remember to give yourself some extra time to find a park and wait for the shuttle; I’d recommend budgeting another 30 minutes or so to reach the check-in counters. Finally, when you've found a park, remember to take a photo of where your car is with some sort of identifying sign included in the image so you can find your way back easily upon your return.

Dining and Shopping at Melbourne Airport
T2, as the designated terminal for international departures, has the biggest selection of cafes, restaurants, and duty-free shopping. It’s also the busiest terminal, and requires a bit of extra time to get through the lines at security.
T1, handling the busy domestic schedule from Qantas, has a good amount of shops and restaurants on Level 1, and on Level 2, the main Qantas lounges.
T3, designated for Virgin Airlines departures, and T4, designated departures for the budget airlines, share a security checkpoint and general concourse dining area connected by a mezzanine-level walkway. The selection of places to eat and buy food for your flight is quite good!

The hotel's location is pretty good. The one-day tour I booked met right outside the Windsor Hotel, which was only a few minutes' walk away. Both Red Apple and Green Apple supermarkets are within walking distance, and Chinatown isn't far either, making evenings very lively. The hotel facilities are admittedly a bit old, but the hygiene is decent. Breakfast is just okay, but it's filling, and surprisingly, they even offered congee. When checking out, since I paid a cash deposit, I had to wait a while for them to inspect the room before I could get my money back and leave. Located about 10 min walk away from convention center. The tram is just around the corner. Clean room. Comfortable bed and pillow. Limited channels on TV but OK... I left on a midnight flight, when I collected my luggage from the hotel at around 7pm, the staff Mr Ady suggested that I could take a shower on Level 5 gym before heading to the airport. Overall, not a bad hotel. The location is very convenient; all major city attractions are within walking distance. Everything is clean, the reception/foyer areas are pleasant, and there's a cozy lounge in front of the cafe entrance where you can read a book or just pass the time if housekeeping is cleaning your room. The housekeepers are Chinese women, and there were no complaints about the cleaning. It was nice that they changed the bed linen every 2-3 days without us having to ask. The room is certainly very small, but it's perfectly fine for one person, especially if you're there for sightseeing rather than spending time in the room. The miniature window overlooks a wall with AC units and oddly only opened to a 15-centimeter gap at the bottom. Holes in the window screen (mine had a torn screen on this small window) would be a problem in the summer, but no bugs will fly in during a winter month. The room renovation is relatively recent. There's a nice backlight above the headboard. The duvet covers are the same as in Africa, by the way – two regular sheets on either side of the duvet. In the shower, it's inconvenient that there's no handheld showerhead, only an overhead rain shower. There are no toothbrushes with paste or hair conditioner, so keep that in mind. What is provided: shower gel, hairdryer, ironing board with iron, wall-mounted air conditioner, TV, refrigerator, kettle, and everything works perfectly. Bottled water isn't provided because there's no point: the water in Australia is very clean, and everyone drinks tap water. Regarding breakfast: in the 16 days I spent at this hotel, the menu never changed. What you see in my photos here is what was in the cafe every day, the same items in the same spots. My stay at Brady Hotel Central Melbourne was absolutely fantastic! The biggest highlight has to be its superb location – incredibly close to the subway entrance, making it super easy to get around. We recently stayed at Novotel Melbourne on Little Collins, and overall had a comfortable and convenient experience.
The biggest highlight is definitely the excellent location in the heart of Melbourne CBD. It’s very easy to get around, with plenty of shopping, dining, and attractions within walking distance.
We arrived earlier than check-in time, and the staff kindly allowed us to store our luggage, which made things much easier. We were also offered a discounted breakfast option during check-in, which was a nice touch. The gym facilities were well-maintained, and we enjoyed using them during our stay.
The room was a bit more compact compared to other hotels we stayed at during this trip, but still clean and functional. Although we had requested a higher floor, we were assigned a lower-level room, which currently faces some construction.
One thing to note is that the lift system can be slightly inconvenient, as the reception is on Level 3 and requires a transfer between lifts. There were also a few instances where the lift didn’t respond as expected. Additionally, there isn’t a self-service laundry facility available.
Overall, despite a few minor inconveniences, we enjoyed our stay—especially because of the prime location and helpful service.FromAED 459

This hotel is perfectly located if arriving into Melbourne on the train from Sydney. The hotel let me check in early at no extra charge. I found the staff to be cheerful, pleasant and very helpful. The room was spacious and very clean. The coffee and tea facilities were in the room but hidden in the cupboard next to the fridge and the drinking glasses were stored in the fridge! (Never seen that done before). The swimming pool was a nice added bonus and breakfast, although very basic, was adequate. A historic hotel. The room we booked was large and had a vintage feel to it; we stayed for four nights.
Every staff member we encountered from the moment we walked in was very polite. Room service was also very quick.
The only downside was that the two cleanings during our stay were not very thorough: only the bathroom towels and trash bags were replaced, but the bathroom floor wasn't cleaned, and the sheets weren't changed.

Location: It's on a very narrow street with a small sign, but it's close to Chinatown which is quite convenient. Downstairs, there's a Chinese noodle restaurant that accepts WeChat Pay, and also a cafe.
Cleanliness: Overall, it's quite new. There are no toothbrushes or slippers, and the room isn't big, but it's fine for one person. It's cleaned daily.
The sink, toilet, and shower are all separate. There's a kettle, but no bottled water; you need to go to the 2nd floor to get water.

However, there were a few disappointing points. We booked a family room for six people for three nights, but we were actually given adjacent connecting rooms.

The apartments are good but dirty. The staff smiles to guests but don’t solve problems. First, when I arrived to the hotel it was early, their check in is after 3pm. The guy at the reception offered me to complete paperwork for check in. He also said that I can go for a walk and they will contact me once the room is ready. I gave him my Australian number but I never got a call. When I came back around 3:30pm the room key was ready for me, but why couldn’t they call me as promised? Second, the room was dirty especially bath tub (see photos). It had hair and skin of previous guests there- it seems they don’t really clean it. Second, next day morning I asked for packed breakfast because I went for a tour but the lady continued asking me why I need it and whether I want to check out one day early, why?.. third, the internet password did not work, so I went to reception and asked them to fix the problem. A lady took my phone and fixed it but instead solving the password issue she just reconnected using different option but she didn’t tell it to me . When I went back to my room it appeared that I still cannot connect my laptop so I had to go to the reception again. If the hotel staff know ls about Internet problem why not to fix it for everyone? Finally, they ask guests to clean their rooms before leaving otherwise cleaning charge will be applied. This is nonsense!FromAED 378

We stayed here for 6 nights during our honeymoon, and it was truly a memorable stay.
One thing we really appreciated was that we arrived at the hotel quite early, at around 1:00 PM, and the front desk kindly allowed us to check in early. After a long flight, being able to settle into our room and have a rest before exploring the city meant so much to us. We were genuinely grateful for this thoughtful gesture.
The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Melbourne CBD. Chinatown is directly across the road, and there are plenty of restaurants, supermarkets, cafés, and tram stops nearby. Most of Melbourne’s attractions are within walking distance or just a short tram ride away, making it an ideal base for exploring the city.
Our room on the 15th floor was spacious, modern, clean, and very comfortable. We especially loved having a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave, refrigerator, and cooking utensils. Staying for six nights, it was wonderful to cook a few meals ourselves instead of eating out every day. It made us feel less like tourists and more like locals.
Every evening after a full day of sightseeing, returning to our room on the 15th floor felt like coming home. It became a place where we could truly relax and unwind. By the last day, packing our luggage was unexpectedly emotional because we had grown so attached to the hotel and simply didn’t want to leave.
There was a small issue with the parking during our stay, and although it wasn’t handled perfectly at first, it was eventually resolved and did not affect our holiday. We also found that the service experience varied between staff members. A few employees appeared less friendly, while others were genuinely warm, professional, and always greeted us with a smile. Their kindness made us feel very welcome.
Overall, the excellent location, spacious room, home-like atmosphere, and the convenience of having a kitchen made this one of the most enjoyable hotel stays we’ve had. The few minor issues were far outweighed by the positive experience.
Thank you to the team for making our honeymoon even more special. We would definitely stay here again when we return to Melbourne, and we highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay. ❤️FromAED 445

Stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton Melbourne – Flinders Street for a short city break. The location is excellent, directly opposite Flinders Street Station and within easy walking distance of Federation Square, the Yarra River, restaurants and Melbourne's laneways.
The hotel itself is functional rather than impressive. It appears to be a converted office building, which means the layout is a little different from purpose-built hotels and there are no particularly memorable views despite the prime location. The room was comfortable enough, but the finishes and fixtures lacked the polished feel I've experienced at other DoubleTree properties. Business travellers looking for a more premium or contemporary fit-out may find it falls short of expectations.
During our stay there was an issue with our baggage, however the staff handled the situation professionally, resolved the problem and provided complimentary drink vouchers as a goodwill gesture, which was appreciated.
One disappointment was that the gym was closed during our stay, as this is a facility I normally like to use when travelling.
Overall, the hotel's strongest selling point is its outstanding location. It works well as a tourist base for exploring Melbourne, but business travellers who prioritise hotel facilities, room finishes and a more modern feel may prefer some of the newer hotels in the CBD.FromAED 458

I stayed here for two nights, and the Ctrip price for this hotel was significantly lower than on other platforms. For the same price, other hotels weren't as new. Comparing them, this hotel is ideal, from its location to its rooms. The hotel also has USB ports on its outlets.
From a distance while walking along the river, you can easily spot the 'vibe' blue letters on the building, making it easy to find your way back. There's a path right outside the entrance that crosses the river. The Urban Rooms are located on floors below the sixth floor. If you want a view, you should opt for a River View Room on the sixth floor or higher.

This hotel deserves a five-star review! I wish I had stayed at the Sheraton for my entire trip to Melbourne. It's in the city center, which is incredibly convenient, and even late at night, around 8-9 PM, there are still plenty of people around, making it feel very safe. When I checked in, there was a Chinese-speaking staff member available. Although the person who actually checked me in was of Indian descent, a Chinese colleague came over to make sure everything was alright before leaving. They even offered me a complimentary glass of champagne! The hotel room was spacious and clean, definitely the best I've stayed in during my past two weeks in Sydney and Melbourne. It certainly lived up to expectations!

The hotel is clean and very busy during the morning time. Dont say about the reception area because it just too crowded. The fact that they provide luggage storage before check in also very helpful for us. The only cons is the hotel is too busy and full with people, there were people open/close the door non stop for 10minutes with loud voices in front of our room around 5pm.FromAED 380

The hotel's location is excellent, with a free tram stop right outside. The front desk staff were very helpful and answered all my questions. They don't provide combs in the room, but you can ask the front desk for one. The other toiletries were great, and I especially liked the variety of tea bags. They also offer free evening sleep tea bags, and for two nights, they even left small chocolates on my bedside table! Housekeeping was prompt. I was pleasantly surprised by my stay here. It's about a 20-minute tram ride from Melbourne city center (which isn't too far, but the tram is quite slow), then a 3-5 minute walk. The area is very quiet. The double room was very spacious, I'd estimate around 30 square meters. Even with two beds, there was still plenty of extra space. There's a walk-in closet-like area connecting to the bathroom (which is relatively small). The fridge is tucked away in a cabinet. All toiletries were provided except for a toothbrush and toothpaste. For Melbourne, where space is at a premium, this location and room size at only 500 RMB a night is a fantastic deal. I had to pay a 100 AUD deposit upon check-in, which was refunded on the day of check-out.FromAED 375
