I bought tickets to the safari park and the circus. We got in with our passports without any problems. Arrive early for the safari and head straight for the little train; there's always a line there. If you take a taxi, go to the north gate. That's where you board the cable car and little train. There are stages throughout the park where shows take place every 30-60 minutes. We spent the whole day at the park, then went to the circus. It's a spectacular show. Arrive early, too. The tickets say 80 minutes, but it lasted a full two hours.

I recommend going just a bit before sunset to get a good view! Definitely recommend if this is your first time in Guangzhou!

The tower is stunningly beautiful, and of course, it offers stunning views. But keep in mind that you'll have to wait in line for the Bubble Tram. We went in the evening (between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM), and the wait was about 30 minutes. Tickets are purchased for a specific two-hour slot. It's best to arrive closer to sunset to catch the daytime views, the entire pact, and the nighttime illumination. And don't forget to bring your passport; they do check it.

We went up to the top and took a ride on the circus. The views were great, but nothing else interesting, other than standing in lines. We got caught in the rain, and the views from the cabin got their own vibe.

My tip for Canton Tower is to head straight up to the Bubble Tram as soon as you get inside. We waited about an hour to get on, so I’d get that queue out of the way first. Then you can take your time exploring the levels below without thinking about how long the line might be. The level just below the tram is beautiful too, so definitely stop there on your way down.My wife and I really enjoyed the ride. From that high up, you can see Guangzhou in every direction. The bubble moves slowly enough that you have time to take photos of one side of the city, put your phone down and enjoy the view, then see a different part of the skyline as you come around. Even though we shared the bubble with other people, it still felt romantic seeing the city like that together. I’d recommend it for couples, but it would be a fun thing to do with friends or family too. For us, the view was worth the wait!

We visited this water park in October 2026, and overall, it was a good experience. We were lucky we didn't have to wait in long lines (we did buy a fast pass). The pros include inexpensive admission, slides for every taste and style, from extreme to laid-back kids' slides, well-maintained grounds, and really good cafes within the park for a reasonable price. If you're looking for something to do, plan a whole day. The cons include a bit of aging, some areas could use a touch-up, and the park is quite old. There are no towels for rent (unlike Atlantis in Sanya), no hair dryers, and the showers don't provide soap, shower gel, or shampoo. Everything is available for an extra fee. The minimum towel price is 89 yuan, so keep in mind that some of the cafes were closed when we were there. Lockers are available, both small and large, and range from 30 to 60 yuan for the entire day.

We visited during the Chinese holidays. There weren't many people in the morning, but everyone showed up around lunchtime. The lines were about 25-35 minutes long. We rode four of the biggest slides, but the others weren't very interesting. The lazy river rides are paid. You can use your phone for some slides, but not for others, but there's a storage facility nearby for 20 yuan. A lunch like the one in the photo cost 116 yuan.

A great place for a family vacation. Lots of slides, we couldn't see them all in a day. There are plenty of shows, and it's fun to watch. It's best to come early in the morning, around 10:00, when it's less crowded, but even on a typical weekday, there weren't many people until late in the afternoon. I recommend it!

Shawan Ancient Town

Shawan Ancient Town has a history of over 800 years. Here, a wealth of architectural features from the Ming and Qing dynasties and the Republican era has been preserved, including stone, wood, brick, and plaster carvings. These carving techniques showcase the rich craftsmanship of Lingnan architecture and will leave you in awe.
Visitors can stroll along the cobblestone lanes, as if stepping into a captivating Lingnan landscape painting. Couples come here to explore, take in the views, and savor the local culture—it's a great date idea.

The beauty of travel is never just about the destination. It might be a light rain encountered along the way, a field of flowers stumbling upon around a corner, or a little story told casually by a local. These unexpected surprises are more touching than planned tourist attractions. The purpose of venturing out is to collect these small moments of beauty, to store them little by little in our hearts, and to look back on them in the ordinary days to feel a sense of warmth.

The combined ticket is convenient and covers many areas. I think the main attraction is the architecture; the Lingnan-style buildings are exquisite. The oldest and most beautiful parts are only visible in the paid areas. It's worth seeing even for first-time visitors.

This ancient settlement is very big and is a living settlement. There are residents actually living in the area. There are a two entrance, the more popular one is the south entrance. The more touristy area with more commercialization. It still makes for an exciting and entertaining outing. Do allow for more time as there is a lot to explore. The small side lanes are picturesque so do check it out.

Shawan Ancient Town, located in Panyu District, Guangzhou, is a living fossil of Lingnan culture with over 800 years of history. It is renowned for its well-preserved ancient architectural complex, with its blue brick and stone tiles, and rows of wok-shaped eaves houses. Strolling through its tranquil streets and alleys, one is enveloped in a rich historical atmosphere. Must-see Highlights: * Liugeng Hall (He Clan Ancestral Hall): A magnificent Lingnan ancestral hall building with exquisite carvings, serving as a window into Shawan's clan culture. * Shawan Ginger Milk Curd: The town's signature dessert, fragrant and smooth, be sure to sample the most authentic flavor at a time-honored shop. * Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience: This is the birthplace of intangible cultural heritage such as Cantonese music and Piao Se (a traditional folk art performance). With luck, you might even encounter traditional activities. The ancient town is perfect for a leisurely visit, ideally taking half a day to a full day. Take Guangzhou Metro Line 3 to Shiqiao Station, then transfer to a bus to reach the town. It's an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of the city to experience the authentic charm of a Lingnan water town.
