Arima Onsen Tocen Goshobo
"The room was quite spacious, and the massage chair was a pleasant surprise – very comfortable to use. The room introduction was quite detailed, and it was my first time experiencing a traditional Japanese onsen ryokan. The tatami mats were interesting, and I slept well. The entire hotel felt like a museum; despite its age, it had a lot of character. I felt like I got a deeper understanding of Japanese culture, which I really appreciated. The service, apart from being led to our room with traditional Japanese bows and the room introduction, was mostly self-service. However, this was my first time staying at a 'one night, two meals' ryokan, so I'm not sure if all onsens are like this. We also didn't have large luggage, just our bags, so maybe that's why we didn't notice any issues with luggage service. On a positive note, the front desk immediately knew which pair of shoes were ours when we checked out, which was good service. On the downside, the room's air conditioning unit was so well hidden that it took ages to find, and I was cold for quite a while. The phone either didn't work or I couldn't figure out how to use it. Also, we booked the private onsen from 8 PM to 9:30 PM. After relaxing for a bit, it was already close to 11 or 12. The public onsen closed from 12 AM to 1 AM, so we couldn't use it. We needed about 8 or 9 hours of sleep, and breakfast was scheduled for 9 AM. After breakfast, from 9:30 AM to 11 AM, the public onsen was closed. When we asked, the front desk informed us that check-out was strictly at 11 AM and we couldn't use the public onsen after checking out. So, we missed out on the public onsen, which was a real shame and couldn't be negotiated. In any five-star hotel in any country I've traveled to, it's usually possible to discuss using facilities after check-out. But it seems traditional onsen ryokans are all this rigid. While that might be how Japanese people are, for a hotel of this price, and for clearly inexperienced foreigners (we were even reminded we wore our kimonos the wrong way), when asking about meal times, couldn't they have kindly informed us that we needed to plan our breakfast, dinner, and onsen times accordingly? The food was light and flavorful. I don't eat seafood, and they were able to adjust the meals to my preferences. Communication two months prior was very responsive. However, for us, it was a bit too plain; Japanese people would probably love it. This was my first trip with my husband after giving birth, and I had been looking forward to the onsen part for a long time. I was very happy on the check-in day, but not being able to use the public onsen on the second day was still a big regret."
Kobe Minato Onsen Ren

Seaside Hotel Maiko Villa Kobe
"Stunning views, almost all rooms face west towards the bridge and sunset. Excellent location, the beach is right in front, but you have to cross under tracks and highway, 5-6 min walk after you exit the escalator. Beds in adjoining rooms are large, we could easily fit a family of 6 in 2 rooms, and you even add extra beds if needed."
HOTEL Meriken Port Kobe Motomachi
HOTEL Meriken Port Kobe Motomachi is designed for comfort and practicality for both business and leisure travellers.
Negiya Ryofukaku
"My husband and I came to the hotel for one night. The location is very scenic, close to the bus terminal where we arrived. We were greeted very warmly. There were no communication issues — the young women who helped us check in spoke English well and had a great sense of humor. They showed us everything and took us to our rooms. I especially want to mention that while we were waiting to check in, a wonderful woman in a kimono brought us hot towels, bowls of tea, and small sweets. After our journey, it was a very pleasant touch. Our room was fantastic. We chose it for the stunning view of the mountains. We slept soundly in the beds. The public baths were wonderfully relaxing — this was our first experience with onsens. I also booked a massage. A young woman came to my room, and the massage was done with clothes on — it was the best decision of that evening. I didn't want it to end. For dinner, there was a whole ceremony. There was an enormous amount of food. We couldn't finish it all. Some things were delicious, others were new to us and a bit unfamiliar. But it all added to our experience and enriched us. Thank you for the hospitality. A wonderful place!"
Kobe Plaza Hotel
"Very happy with the stay not sure how it's only 3 stats very good value for money I stayed here for a break from the hostels and capsule hotels and I loved it . Allowed me to drop bag off before I checked inn room lovely shower could be a touch better rather than one that's over a bath but still gets the job done . And the location is brilliant very close to local train stations and subways would recommend . Plus the Japanese breakfast was lovely a first for me"
Hotel Monte Hermana Kobe Amalie
"Good location and convenient overall. Parking is available on-site but comes at an extra cost. Breakfast options were quite limited."

"1. **Room Cleanliness**: The room was spotlessly clean. The sheets and towels had a fresh scent, which made me feel very comfortable and at ease. The furnishings were also tastefully appointed, creating a warm yet modern feel. 2. **Convenient Location**: The B&B is in a prime location, surrounded by a wealth of amenities. A bus runs right downstairs, running every four minutes and taking us to Sannomiya in 12 minutes. This makes it very convenient for shopping and exploring local specialties. It's incredibly convenient for those of us who love to explore the city. 3. **Host Friendly and Warm**: The hosts were absolutely amazing! Not only did they provide detailed directions before our arrival, but throughout our stay, they were always patient and helpful, answering questions about itineraries and daily life. It was a truly heartwarming experience. 4. **Comprehensive Services**: The hosts provided a comprehensive range of services, from free Wi-Fi to amenities, every detail was thoughtful. They also provided us with local tourist brochures, which helped us plan our trip. Overall, this stay exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it to other travelers. Whether you're on a business trip or a leisure trip, this is an ideal choice. Thank you for the host's hospitality and look forward to coming again next time!"
Kobe Port Tower Hotel
It offers simple, clean rooms with essential amenities, making it a practical stay for both tourists and business travellers.
Hotel Hanakoyado
"The hotel service is very good. Call in advance and you can come to Arima Station for pick-up. The operator is Chinese and communication is barrier-free. A car can also be sent to pick up and drop off the Arima cable car for free. There are two hot springs in total, and the pool on the left is larger and more comfortable. The food is average, but it's pretty good to experience the hot spring kaiseki. Overall, I am very satisfied!"
Candeo Hotels Kobe Tor Road
"I didn't expect a Japanese hotel room to have such a big bed – it really exceeded my expectations! Plus, there's a rooftop onsen, and both the environment and hygiene are excellent. What's even better is the location; Sannomiya Center Gai is right downstairs. I'll definitely stay here next time I visit Kobe."
Escale Kobe
"It's pretty good. The front desk staff are all older men who provide good service. There are public bathrooms and restrooms. It's not far from Kobe's bustling city center, just a few subway stops away. There are also restaurants within a ten-minute walk."
