It's about a 1.5-hour drive from Denpasar, costing around 2500 yen by Grab. The entrance fee is 600 yen, paid at the entrance to Uluwatu Temple. It feels like a beautiful botanical garden and monkey park. You'll need about an hour to explore. I saw several instances of mischievous monkeys stealing water, glasses, and cell phones, so you need to be very careful with your belongings. The 7:00 PM Kecak dance is after sunset, but it doesn't hinder the viewing. If you want to take Instagrammable photos, I recommend the 6:00 PM performance. It was a fun Kecak dance that covered the classic story while also being highly entertaining.

Pura Luhur Uluwatu is when you go "just to see the temple," but end up experiencing a three-act drama: "I'm at the end of the world," "Oh, my glasses!" and "Well, now I've definitely seen the best sunset of my life." 😄
Act One: The Road. You climb up, feeling like a pilgrim, almost a saint... until you realize the real bosses here are the monkeys. They look at you as if you've come not to a holy place, but to their home uninvited, and with a banana in your pocket. And yes, it's best not to take the banana at all: these guys read minds (and pockets) better than any psychic.
Act Two: The Views. You're standing on a cliff, the ocean roars below, the wind flutters your sarong, and you're like, "So this is what they meant when they said 'breathtaking!'" The temple seems to have grown straight out of the rock—austere, ancient, with that signature Balinese grace. And you immediately feel tiny, yet somehow especially enlightened. Well, until another macaque tries to rip your cap off.

Walk around—the monkeys are more relaxed. Don't try to play with them or touch them; they're wild animals. I remember a girl playing with a monkey, and it lunged at her. The girl started running away, screaming loudly throughout the forest. It's her own fault, don't bother them. It's a very authentic and picturesque place. Some of the temples are closed, by the way, but you can just stroll around and see the beautiful nature and, of course, the monkeys.

Spent about 2.5 hours here and it still felt too short. The forest is big and shady, with lots of paths, huge old trees and a temple. Monkeys are everywhere doing their own thing: grooming, playing, fighting over snacks. Really fun to watch. I sat down on a rock that turned out to be a monkey trail, and a group just sat next to me and started grooming each other like I wasn't there. They're calm and used to people, since staff feed them nuts and corn throughout the day.Tip: bring as little as possible and keep everything in zipped pockets. I saw a monkey snatch a woman's wallet, chain and all. The café is fenced in for exactly this reason.Toilets and benches are available, so it's easy to take a break. Parking is paid hourly but costs almost nothing. The ticket was cheaper on Trip.com than at the gate, and entry was smooth. A lovely place.

I really loved Kelingking Beach! 🤍 We were traveling with friends and staying at a hotel nearby, so we were able to come and enjoy the place in peace.
The nature here is simply incredible—the huge waves and cliffs are especially impressive. You stand at the top and literally can't take your eyes off the ocean. It's all so mesmerizing.
The descent to the beach is quite scary in places and certainly not the easiest, but overall it's quite doable if you walk carefully and take your time. You might encounter small monkeys along the way—they add a little extra atmosphere to the place.
Definitely one of those places you have to see with your own eyes. The sheer scale of the nature, the ocean, and the incredibly beautiful views are especially impressive. 🌊

There's basically only one location with a descent to the beach. It's very crowded, there's traffic jams on the stairs, and the walk down to the beach takes about 15-20 minutes, and I can't even imagine coming back. It's so hot, we didn't go to the beach because there were so many waves that we couldn't swim. I think it's overhyped, but for the sake of it, I'd recommend visiting, walking down the 20-30 steps with a gorgeous view, taking some free photos, and then moving on.

A great neighborhood—quite clean, quiet, and cozy!
It was in this area that we found the best exchange office in Bali—an official one, where you definitely won't get ripped off. Also nearby is ICON Bali, a fairly large shopping center with almost everything you need.
The beaches here are quite clean, although we didn't swim in them. I think this is a very comfortable area for families, couples, or seniors: it's quiet, peaceful, and overall has a very pleasant atmosphere.
We also found our favorite restaurant in Sanur, which we still miss dearly 🥹❤️
Another plus is that there's much less traffic here, especially compared to Canggu. Overall, Sanur left us with very warm memories!

This was my favorite beach in Bali. You can walk along the coast all the way from Sanur Beach to Icon Bali. The sea is calm, and the sunrise is beautiful. You can also enjoy yoga, and there are plenty of restaurants along the beach walk. I only stayed one night, but I wished I could have stayed longer.

For a beach holiday, Sanur has better beaches and less waves than Canggu. The roads are wider and there are more sidewalks. There are no big clubs. However, there is an excellent oceanfront shopping mall and a seaport, from which it's easy to get to the beaches of Nusa Penida, if needed. The airport is a half-hour drive away via a toll road.

I messaged the hotel support on WhatsApp asking to change the room type, and they changed it without any issues. Before check-in, they sent an email about the option for online check-in, allowing us to upload passport scans beforehand to avoid waiting at the reception. The check-in process was quick. Upon arrival, we immediately received our room cards and a complimentary welcome drink for everyone. The pool area is fantastic; the kids loved the slides, and we all participated in the contests organized by the animators. The location is perfect, situated between Beachwalk shopping mall and Waterbom Waterpark, with the beach just across the road. The breakfasts were good, with plenty of fruits and sweets. They even had milk porridge every other day, which my son happily ate. Housekeeping cleaned daily and replaced towels. The only downsides were the very narrow balconies, only suitable for drying clothes, and the difficulty in finding sun loungers, especially four together for the whole family. On the very first day of our stay, my husband got severe food poisoning after breakfast. We couldn't pinpoint the exact food, but it might have been the eggs (omelet). The sea doesn't match the photos on the hotel's page; in reality, you can't really swim in it. In the bay, the water only reaches an adult's waist at most, even up to the buoys, and there's a lot of seaweed in the water. Anyone who dislikes algae at the bottom and in the water will be very uncomfortable. If you want to swim, you'll need to go to other beaches towards the southern part of the island. The hotel is no longer new, and they try to maintain it, BUT some of the power outlets didn't work, and some were broken. The room cleanliness upon check-in was about a 4 out of 5. In the evenings, there were always some programs or performances. I didn't particularly enjoy the 'Balinese dinner' – everything was very spicy. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and genuinely service-minded. They were also happy to recommend places and things to do around the area, which we really appreciated.
Unfortunately, there were several issues that significantly affected our stay. During the daytime, there was some burning happening around the nearby rice field, and the smell came directly into our room. It became uncomfortable enough that we had to leave the hotel for a few hours and only came back in the evening.
The biggest problem, however, was the air conditioning. In the middle of the night, the room became extremely cold even though we had not intended to make it that cold. We were surprised to find the air conditioner running at 17°C with the fan at maximum speed. We had to wake up several times to adjust the temperature, and because of this we could not sleep properly until early morning.
The Wi-Fi was also very poor. Once our phones connected to the hotel Wi-Fi, the internet was practically unusable, so we eventually had to disconnect and use our own roaming mobile data instead.
Overall, the staff and service were good, but the air conditioning and internet problems seriously affected the comfort of our stay. If these two issues were fixed, the experience would be much better.FromCAD 29

Pros: This hotel truly values its members, I was directly upgraded to an Executive Suite. Two butlers escorted me to my room, and they even remembered my name. The welcome fruit was also incredibly generous – you deserve all the success! I witnessed a breathtaking sunset that I'll remember for a lifetime. I highly recommend the pancakes and pork chop rice at the Clay Craft restaurant; they were absolutely delicious.
Cons: The water quality was poor; I used three filter cartridges in two nights. My hair became tangled after washing, and I had to pay for a treatment when I got home. Bottled water was sold for 40 (while it's only 3 at convenience stores outside) – that's highway robbery!FromCAD 204

This hotel is very beautiful. Hidden in the tropical rainforest surrounded by rice paddies. It’s a little bit further out from central Ubud but I rented a motorbike and parked i at the hotel.
The bath was great. The pool and restaurant was fantastic. The onsite Indian restaurant was phenomenal.FromCAD 112

The view from the pool is very beautiful. Overall, the hotel's location is good, but you have to leave the hotel either through a narrow street or some overgrown paths, which doesn't seem very safe. There's a large supermarket and a currency exchange about 10 minutes away. There are many warungs, but we're not big fans of them. The breakfast is so-so, but maybe we're just picky; for the price, it's quite good. The room is spacious, but there's a noise like a refrigerator motor running. Again, for the price of 3.5k per night with breakfast, it's a very spacious room with a comfortable bed, though the pillows aren't great.FromCAD 44

A fantastic hotel on the eastern part of the island.
It is more suitable for a quiet family vacation and for those who prefer beach relaxation over surfing and parties. It is located quite far from the center of the island's main activity. The hotel has excellent infrastructure. The room was large, spacious, clean, and had everything needed. The breakfasts were excellent and very varied. The hotel staff is wonderful and very friendly. I would especially like to highlight the bartender Dede, who was very courteous and helped me repeatedly in planning my activities in Bali. The hotel has a private beach and various pools to suit any taste. I definitely recommend this wonderful hotel.FromCAD 137
