Great Wall is not a single spot. It’s a collection of several sections in different part. When we talk about traveling to Great Wall, you’ll probable travel to one of the following section:

Mutianyu Great Wall

The transfer was very convenient for getting to this section of the wall, and I highly recommend it. We considered taxis and public transportation, but we were glad we decided to book here. We had a guide with us throughout the trip who gave us valuable recommendations for the visit. It ended up being better and more convenient than we had originally planned. We were also able to book a cable car to Tower 14 and a tubing machine from Tower 6 right during the trip, and we had to show our passports for both. There were lines everywhere, but at least we didn't have to wait at the ticket office.

Advance reservation is required. Don't miss out or you won't be able to enter, according to the Chinese government's security measures. However, if you really miss out, you can walk around the area from a distance, as shown in the picture.

First time in Beijing. I plan to visit Tiananmen Square at least once in my life. It is beautiful and has historical value. The weather is good these days, 4-5 degrees Celsius, suitable for tourists. Note: You have to make a reservation through China's WeChat before you can go up close. Soldiers and police check your passport before entering. They check quite strictly. It is a bit far to walk because the roads and walkways are blocked off at some points. Overall, it is good.

Second visit to Beijing 🇨🇳 Tiananmen Square + Palace Museum is so big What a terrifying sea of people... The willow catkins are flying all over the sky, no wonder there is the sound of snow falling This song goes perfectly with Story of Yanxi Palace❤️ The whole day is spent in Kunning Palace and Qianqing Palace The scene of the TV series 🎬 is right in front of my eyes, it feels so wonderful Who is whose father? Who is whose wife? Oh my god, it's so complicated 😆😆 It's worth coming, but it's only once in a lifetime.

I visited the Temple of Heaven. It's something else entirely. It's truly mesmerizing. I bought an entrance ticket myself and went with my daughter (by the way, it's free for kids). Just make sure you bring your passports.

Very busy get in early no one checked my ticket once I had entered so not sure if that’s normal or not. It has a few open areas where you can go in and learn history. Temple of heaven was used to pray for number harvests with sacrifices The grounds its self are amazing many older people exercising , dancing , singing cherry blossoms etc. it’s huge so bring your walking shoes

FAQs about Beijing Map

  • What is the most visited place in Beijing?

    • The Forbidden City
    • The Summer Palace
    • The Temple of Heaven
    • The Great Wall of China
    • Hutongs
  • Why is Beijing called the Forbidden City?

Beijing is called the Forbidden City because access was strictly restricted to the imperial family and those with official business during the Ming and Qing dynasties. For 500 years, the general public was barred from entering the imperial palace complex, and unauthorized entry was punishable by death. The name reflects both this restriction and the cosmic symbolism of the emperor, who was considered the "Son of Heaven".
  • What is the main area of Beijing?

Tian'anmen and Tian'anmen Square are at the center of Beijing, directly to the south of the Forbidden City, the former residence of the emperors of China. To the west of Tian'anmen is Zhongnanhai, the residence of China's current leaders.
