If you come to Beijing and don't visit Tiananmen Square, you're missing out big time! It's like the heart of Beijing, bringing together major landmarks from all four directions. It's a vast, expansive square. Getting into the square is incredibly difficult, requiring passing through many security checkpoints. But once you're inside, you'll realize just how massive it is—everything seems twice the scale! And you absolutely can't miss the entrance gate to the Forbidden City, adorned with statues of important Chinese leaders. You have to stop and take a picture there! 😘

Tiananmen Square is quite magnificent overall, but it's not a must-see. You can visit it before going to the Forbidden City. Chairman Mao can't be seen there, so you don't need to go specifically; just look at the exterior of the buildings.
(Although I didn't go to the Forbidden City, if you want to go, remember to refresh the official website seven days in advance to get tickets. Don't be like me and only try to go when you arrive; you can't get tickets at all.)

Attending a village temple fair, a stage is set up in the street for traditional opera performances, while various food stalls line the area below—selling sugar figurines, fried meatballs, and dough figurines—creating a lively and bustling atmosphere that's packed with people. Buying a freshly fried rice cake, dipping it in brown sugar, and enjoying its warm, sweet, and soft texture, while squeezing into the crowd to listen to a few lines of opera—even if you don't understand the tune—feels lively and welcoming, full of the warmth and life of everyday life, and your heart feels a sense of joy and celebration.

Taking the cable car at night to see the city lights gradually illuminates the city, from the nearby streetlights to the distant skyscrapers, spreading out like scattered diamonds, even the streets appear as glowing ribbons. A breeze blows from the cable car, and the entire city stretches out below, both quiet and vibrant. A sense of openness washes over me; from this vantage point, everyday worries seem so small, and nothing seems insurmountable.

A must-see! Just start with the Round Altar of Sacrifice and work your way up. Even if you arrive at the entrance directly to the Temple of Heaven, it's best to walk along the alley and start from the beginning. The tour operator thought of everything and prepared an audio guide, which made the tour more informative. There are restrooms with charging stations and ample restrooms. You can get water in the restroom and charge your phone. Incidentally, there are shopping arcades between the alleys, and souvenirs there are significantly cheaper than in the shops at the entrance.

It's truly worth going. Like everything in China, it's very crowded in the summer, but it's lovely to stroll around, see the women dressed in Hanfu, and enjoy an ice cream while you walk. The path through the immense park is truly pleasant, with beautifully maintained and clean gardens and woods.

We visited the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. The complex is majestic, with a profound historical aura. There were lots of people there. The grounds are large, clean, well-maintained, and green. It's intuitively clear where to go and what to see. I recommend visiting for an introduction to Chinese culture and religion.

This was my second time visiting the summer palace and the first time with friends. I think it’s an absolutely wonderful place to spend a half day exploring the grounds and wandering around the lake. Its history whilst sad is very interesting to learn about and there is a large number of vendors selling food and drink which is ideal during the summer months.
