You can come at any time. They check your voucher number at the entrance and let you in. We weren't allowed into the Exam Museum with our voucher number. Only with our ticket, that's all. You can ride. It's beautifully lit. But there aren't any special buildings or places.

My first visit to the Nanjing Museum was immediately enveloped in a profound sense of history. Slowly strolling along the timeline of the history hall, from ancient jade ornaments depicting people, birds, and animals to the jade burial suit from the Han Dynasty, and the brick paintings of the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove from the Southern Dynasties, each artifact carried the warmth of time, far more vivid than the words in textbooks.
The biggest surprise was the Republic of China Hall, with its 1:1 scale recreation of old Nanjing street scenes. From rickshaws to the old post office, every detail was meticulously crafted, making me feel as if I had traveled back to Jinling a century ago. Being able to see so many national treasures for free, with both historical weight and interactive fun, left me feeling fulfilled and deeply impressed. It truly lives up to its reputation as one of the "Three Great Museums."

Our family of three (with a child over 18) booked two of the cheapest 1.5m queen rooms. Even during a holiday, the price including breakfast was cheaper than nearby chain hotels. The rooms were also a bit larger, and being a five-star hotel, the soundproofing and breakfast were definitely better.
Unexpectedly, because there weren't two adjoining rooms, the young man at the front desk directly upgraded us to one deluxe queen room and one executive suite!
The air conditioning in both rooms worked exceptionally well, and they were very clean. The staff were also enthusiastic. Although the hotel is older, it's still well-maintained. Breakfast was varied and the dining environment was unique.
A few small suggestions: The bathroom had no phone holder (or any shelf at all); there was only one power outlet on one side of the bed; and for a suite with so many rooms, there was no large sofa or chaise lounge, only single armchairs, which wasn't ideal for lounging 😂. The hotel was surprisingly good! After checking in, someone knocked on the door, which startled me, but it turned out they were delivering fruit! I'd left a note for the front desk staff requesting a room with a good view, and they gave us one directly facing the shopping malls in Xinjiekou – amazing! Breakfast was at Jinhaiwan downstairs, and the selection was incredibly rich with very attentive service. It was a really satisfying buffet breakfast.

We booked a panoramic suite and the view was absolutely amazing. The room was huge, with a central TV wall featuring two screens, which was a really cool design. The open-plan layout connecting the office area, lounge, and bedroom made the already spacious 80+ square meter room feel even more expansive. The standard bathtub was also a nice touch.
The only downside was that some of the facilities felt a bit dated. For example, the toilet wasn't a smart one.
Breakfast was pretty good too, and I was pleasantly surprised to find braised duck vermicelli soup on offer.
The only slight hiccup was when I asked for more duck intestines and the staff member told me there wouldn't be enough for others. It's a small issue, but one that shouldn't really happen.

This was my family's first trip to Nanjing, and while the typhoon slightly impacted our plans, which was a bit of a shame, overall we were quite satisfied. We chose the Shangri-La, located on the western bank of Xuanwu Lake, offering an excellent location with stunning, direct lake views from our room – truly a feast for the eyes. We had booked a Horizon Club Lake View room and were kindly upgraded to a Grand Lake View upon check-in. The hotel is just a stone's throw away from Xinmofan Malu Metro Station (Line 1), making it very convenient to get to various attractions. For the subway, I recommend using the back entrance (near the Jiangnan Wok restaurant on the 1st floor); no room key card is needed before 11 PM. If you're staying in a Horizon Club room, you can check in on the 40th floor, which usually means no waiting. Breakfast is also served on the 40th floor, with superb lake views and a rich selection of dishes. Besides the buffet, there are also some special à la carte items you can order – I highly recommend the Old Duck Vermicelli Soup and the xiao long bao (soup dumplings). The hotel service was also excellent; Beryl from Guest Relations and the 40th-floor reception staff were incredibly helpful, and I'm very grateful. If you like architecture, you must come here once. There are more than 20 buildings in the hotel park. It is very comfortable to stay in the hotel and walk around. We made a last-minute decision to visit Nanjing, so I quickly booked a hotel. When we arrived, the staff noticed that the queen-sized bed in our room wouldn't be comfortable for a family of three. The front desk was incredibly helpful and promptly changed us to a twin-bedded room. We were pleasantly surprised when we went upstairs – it felt like a huge upgrade! The room wasn't huge, but it was very cozy. The separate wet and dry areas in the bathroom were a fantastic touch, giving us more privacy when showering. The room truly had a Zen-like feel, and it was perfect for taking photos with our child. Overall, it exceeded my expectations. Who says you can't find a great room with a last-minute booking? The hotel is great for the price. Good location across from a park with a lake. Beds were comfortable, and clean. The room was cleaned daily. Bottled water provided. The towels were soft and absorbent. The buffet breakfast, at 30 RMB was good. Coffee! A good selection of choices. You can fry your own eggs. Steamed buns and fried noodles. A good choice. Friendly staff. A convenience store right off the lobby. One peculiarity: The toilet was immediately behind the door, which always hit it when entering. Traveled from Nanjing with my child for the weekend and chose the Kaiyuan Guchengwan Hotel – the experience was absolutely fantastic!
Special thanks to our butler, Xiao Xia, for her thoughtful and attentive service. She coordinated our itinerary in advance and provided a detailed introduction to the hotel and surrounding area. Check-in was efficient upon arrival. We booked the Misty Rain Twin Room package, which was very convenient and close to the lobby.
The hotel is located within a Jiangnan garden, far from the city's hustle and bustle. The environment is superb, with the sounds of insects and birds, and fresh air. The shuttle service into the scenic area was incredibly convenient.
The room was spacious, with two 1.35m beds that we could push together, so we didn't have to worry about the child falling off. The separate wet and dry bathroom, the scenic floor-to-ceiling windows, and the balcony were particularly impressive. Watching the scenery from the room on a rainy day truly lived up to the name ”Misty Rain Room.”
Whether it was borrowing items, booking the shuttle, or requesting a late check-out, our butler Xiao Xia handled everything quickly and properly. She was reliable in her work and genuinely kind to guests.
We used the dinner included in the package; the vegetables were very fresh, suitable for both the elderly and children, and the fruit was exceptionally delicious. Breakfast offered a rich variety, and parking in the underground garage was convenient, making our travels stress-free. The children's playground was spacious, and the pool was very clean, making the little ones incredibly happy. The noodles from Hu Ji Noodle House, included in the package, were also delicious. The stir-fried shredded pork with green peppers, freshly made by the auntie, was so fragrant that my child and I ate every last bit.
Our butler, Xiao Xia, provided meticulous care throughout our stay. Her service was delicate and warm, perfectly embodying a five-star service standard. This vacation was relaxed and pleasant, without any unpleasant incidents. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
