"Decent service, but the hotel is much older than it looks in the photos. We stayed at this hotel for four nights, and unfortunately, we expected more. The biggest issue is that the hotel looks significantly better in the photos than it does in reality. It honestly feels like the photos were heavily edited or AI-enhanced - or perhaps they were taken 15 years ago when the hotel was much newer. The property is quite old and the rooms clearly need renovation.
The window in our room was extremely dirty, as if it had not been cleaned properly for many years. It also did not close completely, which meant that street noise could sometimes be quite disturbing at night. The air conditioning, on the other hand, worked very well and we had no problems with it. Hot water was a different story, you need to wait a while for it, and the water heater does not seem to work particularly well.
The room was generally not as clean as I would have expected. The corners clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned for a long time, and there was dust and debris behind the bed. However, I have to give credit to the housekeeping service: staff came every day and provided free bottled water, disposable toothbrushes, and other basic amenities. In terms of daily service and small complimentary items, the hotel actually does a very good job.
I also really liked the complimentary lemon water in the lobby. It is freshly prepared by the hotel and tastes great. There is also hot tea available there throughout the day, which is a really nice touch. The staff were generally helpful, but English is a major challenge here. Most of the staff speak very little English, so communication can sometimes be difficult. On the positive side, they had no problem providing a second room key when we asked for one, which is very convenient if you are traveling as a couple. The toilet on the second floor also had a rather weak flush, so it occasionally caused problems. There was no toilet brush in the room either.
The Wi-Fi was probably the biggest practical inconvenience. You cannot simply connect with a normal password. You need to use an app or scan a QR code and enter a Chinese phone number. If you don’t have a Chinese phone number, connecting can be very difficult. On top of that, it seems that one phone number can only be used to connect one device. The hotel staff can help you get a couple of devices connected, but if you also have a laptop, tablet, or other devices, connecting all of them may be impossible.
Even when we managed to connect, the Wi-Fi itself was quite unreliable. It would periodically disconnect and was often very slow. Overall, the hotel is not terrible, and the service has some genuinely nice touches, but the property is clearly much older than the listing suggests. The photos do not accurately represent the current condition of the rooms.
If you look at the photos, mentally add about 15 years to them that is probably a much more realistic representation of what you will find today.
For the price we paid, I expected more, and I think this hotel should be significantly cheaper considering its current condition."
