GGuest UserWe enjoyed our stay at Doubletree Zhongshan. Location is super convenient. The MTR station is a 5 minute walk and there’s a lot of nice restaurants and shops within a 15-20 minute walking radius. There’s also a park and a fruit stand.

GGuest User1. Misleading Entrance Signage Upon arrival, we followed the signage pasted on a pillar that directed guests to a staircase entrance. However, when we reached that entrance, we were shocked to find the door marked with the sign “来宾止步” (“Guests Stop Here”). When we raised this with your staff, we were told that this entrance has not been in use since the COVID-19 period. While we understand that certain operations may have changed during the pandemic, COVID-19 restrictions have ended for more than two years. If the primary entrance has been permanently closed, why has no corrective action been taken and the misleading signage still left there? Carrying heavy luggage up and down a sloped path unnecessarily was frustrating and avoidable. 2. No Staff Assistance or Clear Signage at the New Entrance When we finally located the new entrance, there were no staff members on standby to assist us, nor was there any clear external signage indicating that this was the correct way to access the lobby. The explanation given later was that all staff were away assisting with parking which is not acceptable. At least one person should have been assigned to remain at the entrance, or the last person leaving should have arranged for another colleague to cover the position. In addition, the Operations Director mentioned that there is signage inside the new entrance directing guests to take the elevator to the lobby. However, this logic is flawed. If guests cannot locate the correct entrance in the first place, how could they possibly see a sign placed inside? 3. Poorly Trained and Unprofessional Front Desk Behavior After struggling outside, we called the number listed on Google. Only then did someone finally come out and lead us in. By that time, we were exhausted and upset. When we confronted the front desk staff about why they ignored us, despite us clearly visible outside the “来宾止步” glass door, making eye contact and knocking for help, but they claimed they “did not see us.” This excuse was clearly untrue, as we observed them looking in our direction. Even more disappointing, none of the front desk staff offered an apology even until we requested to speak to the Operations Director and asked him to review the CCTV footage. After reviewing the footage, the Operations Director confirmed that the front desk had not been alert and apologized on their behalf. However, he did not acknowledge that the front desk’s attitude and lack of sincerity were also serious problems. Being “not alert enough” and showing no sense of apology or empathy are two entirely different issues. As an international hotel, the front desk is the first impression of your service. Regardless of the quality of your facilities, this poor experience completely overshadowed the positive aspects of our stay. It also severely damages the reputation of Kagaya Group — a brand that has long been admired for its exemplary Japanese hospitality and politeness. Although we appreciate the Operations Director’s effort to make amends by offering us a meal and gifts (which we declined), it remains undeniable that this incident reflects a failure in staff training and management oversight. We hope that management will seriously review this incident, especially the issues of: - Inadequate and misleading signage at the entrance - Lack of staff presence and assistance upon guest arrival - Poor front desk awareness and unprofessional behavior We trust that Kagaya Group will uphold its proud tradition of service by addressing these problems promptly and ensuring no other guests experience such treatment in the future. Thank you for your attention.

GGuest UserThe hotel automatically upgraded us to a significantly more spacious room during check-in which was a nice gesture. The room was spotless and while Taiwan law does not allow hotels to proactively provide single-use toiletries, shampoo and shower gel are still provided through dispenser bottles. The hotel also has a water dispenser so guests do not have to worry about buying bottled water everyday from convenience stores. Without having to request for it, hotel staff automatically changed the pillowcase when they saw that it was soiled which showed their meticulousness when cleaning the room. In terms of location, the hotel is within a mixed-used building just outside exit Z2 of the Taipei Main Station so it was very convenient to get around and explore the city. While some reviews complained about the long waiting time for elevators, I found that it was generally acceptable. There were two elevators at the front lobby that served all levels of the building and more elevators at the back of the building serving specific levels. At this price point, the only drawback was the shower head in the toilet. Due to the small size of the shower area, you would be standing very close to the shower head. The shower head holder is non-adjustable and angled almost horizontally forward rather than downwards. This meant that when you turned on the shower, the water would be directed at your face and head and it would be difficult to direct the water at anything below the neck level. As such, most guests would have to resort to holding the shower head in their hands rather than enjoying a hands-free relaxing experience, which I guess was a small compromise to make. Overall, I enjoyed my short stay at this hotel.

MMJ FERNThe location is super convenient—just a short walk from Taipei Main Station, which made getting around the city and to the airport so easy. I always felt safe even when coming back a bit late, which is a huge plus when you’re traveling alone. The place itself is clean, cozy, and well-maintained. The rooms are simple but comfortable, and the common areas are nice if you want to relax or meet other travelers. What stood out the most was how accommodating and friendly the staff were—they’re always ready to help with directions, recommendations, or anything you need. As a female solo traveler, safety and comfort are everything, and Main Inn definitely delivered. It has a welcoming vibe that makes you feel at home while still being budget-friendly. Highly recommend this place if you’re planning a solo trip to Taipei 💛

MMr.PettooMyself and my friends stayed at Papa Whale Hotel for the 2nd time, and we had another great experience overall! *What we loved: 1. Room: The room was awesome – clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed. 2. Room Service: Almost perfect! The staff were quick and attentive. 3. Breakfast: Fantastic! Myself and friends really enjoyed the variety. Would love to see a few more options next time, like fried chicken, French fries and more. 4. Location: Location is convenient and perfectly fine. It’s a bit of a walk from Ximen MRT Station, but nothing major. Small note: On one day the staff forgot to replace our towels, but it was a minor issue and didn’t affect our stay. Overall: A perfectly nice stay. We’ll definitely consider coming back again. Thanks to the team for making our trip comfortable.

SSiva Rama 256Check in takes only 5 minutes and check out much more faster with 10 seconds with a self check out machine that will suck in your room card. Check in gets faster with your reply to the property telling them what type of room you have booked and what time you'll arrive. With booming businesses and too many bookings, the staff might get entangled in mess, so partially you reply is helping them to get grounded and avoid mistakes. The property is clean, neat, nice and next to easy transport and family mart and 7e.

AAnonymous UserThe location is pretty good, very close to Beiche/Ximen Station, and there are many convenience stores, fruit shops, and restaurants downstairs. The only drawback is that I specifically booked a room with a window, but when I opened the curtains, it was just a solid wall, LOL, I was speechless!

HHooi Ting PangOverall, my stay was quite good. The hotel's biggest advantage is its excellent location. It's directly across from Taipei Main Station, making it incredibly convenient for taking the MRT, High-Speed Rail, regular trains, or the airport MRT. The surrounding area is well-equipped with amenities, featuring numerous restaurants, snack stalls, and convenience stores, so finding food is a breeze. Ximending is also just about a 15-minute walk away, perfect for shopping, browsing, or trying local delicacies. Plus, the hotel is right next to Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store (Taipei Station branch) and directly connected to an underground shopping mall, adding to the convenience for both shopping and getting around. As for in-room facilities, a refrigerator is provided, which is very practical. The hot water supply was stable, with sufficiently hot temperatures and strong pressure, making showers very comfortable. However, there are a few areas where the hotel could improve. The cleanliness needs a bit of work; the room carpet wasn't thoroughly cleaned, and I noticed visible dust on the headboard and walls. Also, since the hotel is located within a shared building, elevator wait times can be long during rush hour or peak tourist times. On another note, while the hotel offers washing machines and dryers, both require an extra fee. This could add to the expenses for guests planning a longer stay. All in all, if convenient transportation, surrounding facilities, and local amenities are your main considerations, this hotel is a good choice, though there's still room for improvement in terms of room cleanliness. The overall stay was pleasant and I would recommend it. ★★★★☆ (4/5 stars)

TtakaisanLocation is perfect, just a 1 minute walk to 臺北車站and its 1 stop away to 西門町 Room wise its really small, and dusty. There will be people talking at the corridor and you can hear them. I would say its still a cheap and affordable hotel if you do not mind the noise and small space. Its squeezy fitting 2 luggages. Bathroom is clean.
