原文: I learned about the Yokohama New Grand Hotel from the show ”Lunch in a Famous Building”. This time I gave up Tokyo and stayed in Yokohama for a trip to Japan. The hotel is cost-effective. It is worth noting that hotels in Yokohama are much more expensive on Saturdays. The hotel is in a very advantageous location. There is a bus stop at the door that goes to Haneda Airport, and from Haneda you can take a bus to Narita Airport. The bus stop diagonally opposite this bus stop goes to Yokohama Station, where shopping is all there. It is within walking distance of Chinatown and the Red Brick Warehouse. It is opposite Yamashita Park, where roses bloom in early summer. However, the hotel is completely outdated. I came to Japan to travel largely to avoid secondhand smoke. When I went to a hot spring hotel in the countryside, all the buildings were non-smoking. There are smoking rooms here. The main building of the hotel is on the 5th floor, which is a high-rise building. My room is in the tower. I booked a corner smoking room and changed it to a front-facing room for an additional 3,000 yen. This is completely acceptable. The problem is that the whole tower has a bad smell, and the non-smoking room also has a smoke smell. I found that it was the air conditioner that came in. I turned off the air conditioner and turned on the air purifier, which made it much better. The windows are completely sealed. Compared with the Tokyo Empire, the maintenance is really great, and the room has no odor. The quilt was covered with a sheet, not a duvet cover. I don't know if the quilt was changed after each guest, but fortunately, there was no odor. However, the sheet was very wrinkled, which was unpleasant. The clock wasn't silent and was quite loud late at night. The windows were poorly insulated, and the sound of cars at night disturbed my sleep. Breakfast was a Japanese and Western set menu. Fake flowers were placed on the table; even a single real one would have been nice. The quality and taste were acceptable for the price. Overall, the hotel doesn't require overnight stays. You can visit the main building before 10 AM. The staircase isn't particularly grand, but in the afternoon, it was crowded with tourists and occupied by weddings, which made the experience less enjoyable. There are two cafes in the restaurant, one of which serves simple pasta dishes at reasonable prices. Locals also come, and there are queues during peak hours.

The hotel is very close to Sakuragicho Station, Yokohama Air Cabin, and Minato Mirai.
The room at the end of the hotel offers a beautiful view of Mount Fuji.
It's also quick to get to other Kanagawa cities like Kamakura and Zushi.
The hotel is fairly clean, just a bit small, but you can't expect too much from a standard business hotel.
There's a 24-hour 7-Eleven downstairs, which is very convenient.
Overall, the value for money is pretty good.
If I visit again, I'd probably choose this hotel.

I initially wanted to stay in Minatomirai, but really didn't want an old room, so I chose the Hyatt – and I'm so glad I did! The service was super nice, as expected from Japanese hospitality. The location is excellent, very close to the subway station, and the airport shuttle stop at Yamashita Park is also nearby. It's really convenient for visiting attractions like Chinatown, Yamashita Park, Red Brick Warehouse, and Nippon Maru; all are within walking distance. There are three convenience stores downstairs, perfect for grabbing snacks if you can't sleep in the middle of the night. Yokohama is very chill, and staying here is equally chill. The best part? When I woke up this morning, I looked out the window and saw Mount Fuji 🗻 – what a pleasant surprise!

The hotel is in an excellent location, close to many tourist attractions in the area, making it possible to visit several of them on foot.
Although there are few parking spaces available, the hotel has partnerships with nearby parking lots for overnight stays, with very reasonable rates.
The room cleanliness would have been excellent if it weren’t for the dust on the curtains. My son touched the curtain, which triggered our rhinitis, and we had to take antihistamines in order to sleep comfortably.
Breakfast is good, but on our second and last day, which was a Saturday, it was chaotic. There were long lines, and it was not possible to serve ourselves more than once. Since the tray is not large enough and many items ran out quickly, we did not eat as well as we did on the previous day.

The hotel is nice and not far from the train station. There is a McDonald’s and a Lawson right in front of the hotel, which is very convenient. Transportation is easy and getting around is hassle-free. However, the sound of passing trains can be noticeable, so it may not be suitable for light sleepers.

This hotel boasts an excellent location, not far from Yokohama JR Station, and within easy reach of Chinatown, the harbor, Yamashita Park, Red Brick Warehouse, and the Cup Noodles Museum. Dining and shopping options are also very convenient. The rooms are exceptionally spacious for a hotel of this class in Japan, and the facilities are top-notch. It offers great value for money and I highly recommend staying here.

The hotel's location is unbeatable, right next to Chinatown, making it incredibly convenient for dining. The beds in the rooms are quite large, unlike typical twin beds. Although the hotel is a bit old, the cleanliness is decent. However, on our last night, around 4 AM, a drunk Japanese guest tried to open our room door. While they didn't succeed, it genuinely scared us. We immediately reported it to housekeeping, asking them to check the surveillance cameras. Housekeeping initially said the cameras couldn't see that area. Since it was still early morning, we decided to address it again at check-out the next day. When we checked out, we raised the issue once more. The front desk assistant manager, a woman named Junko, handled our complaint very seriously. Her English was excellent. I insisted that the cameras be checked immediately. When we returned from dinner, she confirmed it was a drunk Japanese guest. Regardless of whether that's true or not, I appreciated her positive attitude. Everyone knows Japanese people enjoy drinking, and I just wanted to bring this to the hotel's attention, hoping they'll take incidents involving intoxicated guests trying to open random doors seriously to prevent them from happening again!

I've stayed at this hotel countless times, and each visit has been consistently great. The rooms, facilities, cleanliness, and service are all top-notch. The hotel's exterior is also quite beautiful. Plus, there's a convenience store right downstairs, and the subway station is directly below the hotel, which is incredibly convenient.

Amazing
--momo-I booked the largest corner room at this hotel, and while it was a bit smaller than I expected, it's still acceptable given that Japanese hotels are generally compact. There was absolutely no problem laying out two large suitcases flat on the floor.
The view from the window was lovely, and on a clear day, you can even see Mount Fuji.
The hotel has a very popular sky pool, which requires reservations to enter, but it's great for photos.
Breakfast was decent, pretty standard fare, though you might have to queue if it's crowded.
The location is excellent – it's quiet despite being in a bustling area. The subway station is about a five-minute walk away, and there are convenience stores and large shopping malls nearby. I much prefer this area to the vicinity of Yokohama Station; you can even walk to see the Ferris wheel from here.
I would definitely consider staying here again on future visits.
GGuest UserWonderful hotel with excellent staff. We stayed for 9 days. The room was quite spacious and quiet, and there's a cozy lounge. The hotel is very conveniently located: a direct bus to Haneda Airport stops nearby, the subway entrance is right next door, and looking at the map, the area to the left features Western and Japanese establishments, to the right is Chinatown, and above is the waterfront and port with walking paths. It takes about an hour to reach Tokyo Station by subway. This is probably the best place I've stayed so far in the greater Tokyo area, even though it's technically a suburb.
AAnonymous UserIf you’re looking for a hotel near K-Arena, this one is absolutely worth considering.
The location is excellent, situated in a business district with plenty of restaurants available during the daytime. There’s a 7-Eleven on the first floor, which is very convenient, although it closes at 11:00 PM. After around 9:00 PM, it can be a bit difficult to find late-night food nearby. However, the vending machines offer options like takoyaki and pork teriyaki rice, which are helpful for a quick late-night meal.
The room is spacious enough for two people and offers a great view. The bathroom is large and separated from the toilet, which makes it more comfortable to use.
Amenities are available at the lobby for guests to pick up, and they provide everything you might need—cleansing oil, face wash, cotton buds, conditioner, shaving cream, shaving kits, and more. Pajamas are also provided in the room, and they are very comfortable.
One of the highlights is the onsen located on the lobby floor, open until 1:00 AM. It’s perfect for relaxing after a long day of meetings or events.
There is also a laundry area with washing and drying machines at a very affordable price. However, the dryer may not fully dry clothes even after 90 minutes, so keep that in mind.
The lobby area is suitable for working late into the night. Wi-Fi is strong, and complimentary coffee and hot tea are available 24/7.
The TV is excellent—Sharp 4K with good sound quality—perfect for watching your own Netflix content.
Overall, a great stay, especially for business travelers or anyone attending events at K-Arena.
Ssteve06109:00 The hotel is very good, especially the front desk is very considerate, the transportation is convenient, there are two subways nearby, there are many delicious foods around, and there are many things to eat. In short, it is very convenient to travel. I recommend friends who come to play to stay. The cost performance is very high. OK OK OK
JJennifer WLCRight in the heart of Yokohama Minato Mirai 21! I booked a room facing the city, and it had a perfect view of the Cosmo Clock 21 Ferris wheel. The night view was absolutely stunning, and I could even see ships coming and going from Yokohama Port from the side.
For breakfast, they had Hokkaido's unique Kurosenkoku natto, which had a different texture than the natto you usually find – definitely worth trying!
Next time I visit Yokohama, InterContinental Yokohama Grand will still be my top choice!
AAnonymous UserOverall, my experience pretty much aligns with what other reviewers have said.
The hotel is a bit of a walk from Yokohama Station, but we always took the train from Shin-Takashima Station, which was only a five-minute walk and saved us a lot of unnecessary trudging – very convenient. It definitely offers better value for money compared to hotels in Tokyo.
The room was quite spacious by Japanese standards, and the facilities were good. It had the classic Japanese unit bathroom, so we could enjoy a relaxing bath every evening after coming back. Disposable amenities were available for self-service in the 9th-floor lobby. Breakfast was very substantial and varied daily, which was a nice touch.
The Wi-Fi was indeed pretty bad. I had bought a data-rich SIM card, so after one failed attempt to connect, I just gave up on the hotel Wi-Fi.
Getting to Disneyland was easy by bus, about an hour's ride, which was much more convenient than constantly switching subway lines. For a round trip to Kamakura, the subway took about half an hour each way.
Yokohama, as a seaside city, is absolutely charming. It's bright, clean, and well-planned. Coming here from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo was a breath of fresh air.
Llxdee_2486Great budget stay for the solo traveler! The place was always thoroughly clean and staff were friendly and helpful.
It took some getting used to since it was my first time staying at a capsule hotel. For instance, no outside shoes in the capsule area: disposable slippers are provided once you arrive, so switch to those affter putting down your luggage. If you need an extra pair, you can grab one at the front desk. Also, your locker key has a QR code attached, so that you can scan to enter the capsule, locker, and shower areas. I kept forgetting to walk with it just going to the locker room, which you need the QR code to access! Thankfully, other guests would open the door for me since we shared the same space.
One thing to note is the cleaning time between 11 AM and 3 PM: the capsules are unusable since they change the sheets, make the beds, etc., so it's best to be out in the city exploring or down in the lobby. Any bottles you leave in front of your capsule might be considered trash when they clean, so if you want to keep your drinks, keep them in the locker.
If you have several personal items on your bed inside the capsule, depending on what it is, they may not enter to change the bedding, etc. so keep that in mind. They also provide sleepwear, disposable toothbrush and mini toothpaste, bath and hand/face towels in a small bag that they replace each day! There are proper places to return used sleepwear and towels (large laundry bags are clearly marked), same with trash disposal.
There is a shower area with separate stalls. Many people tend to shower at night, so if you don't want to wait, it's best to shower before the cleaning time in the morning, or before 10 PM. Some girls would shower (and sometimes wash their hair), so it's common for many people to be in the showers late at night, even after midnight! Thankfully, there are small couches in this area, so no need to stand and wait.
Also, the lockers are a bit tiny and narrow (see pic with disposable slippers), but I assume they are the standard for capsule hotels. They are the main storage for small items; luggage (like suitcases) is stored in an adjacent room.
All in all, I would stay there again! Very close to Yokohama station, there are several restaurants, a few Family Marts and a Lawson's are within walking distance, as well as a mall called VIVRE with about 8 floors to browse.
SsgargiuloThe hotel is short walking distance from shin-yokohama station. Check in was easy and smooth. Out room was a bit small and tired , typical business japanese style but the furniture looked worn. The bathroom was also japanese style : no window + small bathtub with shower and minimal (well equipped) space overall. If you are lucky enough to get an upper floor room , the view from the big window is nice. On the basement there is a 7Eleven and just out of the hotel it is plenty of shops/restaurants
MM41323****The hotel is right on Zhonghua Food Street, so it's very easy to find. The front desk was staffed by a very kind old Japanese gentleman. The room space was decent, with a separate wet and dry area, and even a dedicated desk area. The overall space was quite large. The facilities were average, but overall it was a good stay.
JJiatengSince it was my first time making a reservation, I had some trouble getting into the room, but they responded quickly so there was no problem. The accommodation fee was cheap, so I was able to spend more money on sightseeing. There were convenience stores, restaurants, and parking lots nearby, so it was comfortable.
