"We did not expect a 4- or 5-star hotel to allow its internet system to remain down for an entire night. This caused a long queue at check-in, and it took us almost two hours to complete the process and be escorted to our room, as the staff were unable to issue our room access card.
In addition, we had booked and paid for a room for three guests. While the room did have two large beds, only two sets of amenities were provided.

"Hotels in Hong Kong are generally quite expensive with small rooms. I opted for this one primarily because its mid-range price point aligned well with my budget. The room itself wasn't small and felt quite spacious.
The hotel boasts a good location. It's about a 15-minute walk from Sha Tin MTR station. Alternatively, if you prefer not to walk, several bus routes from Sha Tin station stop directly in front of the hotel, which is just one stop away.
The hotel facilities are a bit dated, so don't set your expectations too high; it doesn't even compare to a typical 3-star hotel in mainland China. However, given Hong Kong's prices, this hotel offers pretty good value for money.
My room only had a bathtub, no separate shower, which was a bit inconvenient as I usually shower. Interestingly, a smaller room I booked also had a shower. So, I'd recommend contacting the hotel directly when booking to clarify the room type and amenities.
The hotel offers pleasant views from the room, overlooking both mountains and a river – truly beautiful and refreshing.
Breakfast is served from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM. While the selection isn't extensive, it includes staples like bread, fried noodles, fried vermicelli, sausages, eggs, yogurt porridge, and siumai. Beverages like coffee, tea, and juice are also available. The food was prepared cleanly, and it was sufficient to fill you up.
Both check-in and check-out processes were very quick, especially check-out, where you simply drop your room key card into a designated box.
I had a relatively long stay in Hong Kong this time. For day trips, I found it very convenient to catch buses directly from the hotel entrance. Bus 81c takes you straight to Tsim Sha Tsui, and if you're heading to Sai Kung, the 299x route is direct. I visited Sai Kung for the first time on this trip to see the sea and islands, and the water was exceptionally clean. I highly recommend taking a bus from the hotel entrance; it's only about a 30-minute ride.
New Town Plaza at Sha Tin station also offers a wide range of shops and some excellent dining options. All in all, this hotel provides good value for money."

"We stayed at this hotel for one night and were pleasantly surprised by how spacious the room was, something not very common for budget hotels in Hong Kong. Considering the price we paid, this is definitely one of the best hotels we’ve stayed at in the city.
Our main reason for choosing this hotel was its convenient location near the Immigration Headquarters, which was only a 10-minute taxi ride away. The only minor drawback is that the MTR station is a bit of a walk, roughly 10 minutes, but there is the direct A29 bus to and from the airport, which made our journey very convenient.
If you choose a room on the higher floors, you can also enjoy an incredible view. Overall, this hotel offers great value, comfort, and convenience for travelers."

"I don't usually leave reviews, but the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong truly deserves one. The hotel's convenient location is a given. We stayed here for three days, and the attentive service truly left a lasting impression. The front desk staff who handled our check-in were incredibly warm and welcoming. Upon seeing we had a child, they proactively offered a small gift and thoughtfully asked if we needed an extra bed. Every time we stepped out, the housekeeping staff greeted us with a smile, which always started our day on a positive note. The room was also impeccably tidy, with even our charging cables neatly coiled. Our child left an umbrella in the lobby, and a male staff member from lost and found patiently spent over ten minutes helping us look for it, for which I felt quite apologetic. The hotel breakfast was also excellent and plentiful, with high-quality ingredients. As we were leaving, our child said they definitely want to stay here again on our next trip to Hong Kong."

Miramar Plaza is right outside the hotel's doorstep, and Harbour City is also very close. The Avenue of Stars and the Star Ferry are within easy walking distance too. You can also find several century-old restaurants nearby. It's a reasonable option depending on your budget. If you're looking for a better ambiance, the Prince Hotel might be a superior choice."

"This was my first stay, and the location is absolutely excellent, being directly above Hung Hom MTR station – incredibly convenient!
I booked an Executive Room wanting a harbor view. During check-in around 3 PM, I requested a king-size bed. The front desk mentioned that a king-size room wasn't ready yet, but twin rooms were available. We expressed our preference for a king-size bed and were willing to wait. To our pleasant surprise, the lovely front desk attendant then offered to arrange a complimentary upgrade to a suite for us. We were incredibly grateful for their exceptional service and efficiency!
The room assigned was 18116, just around the corner from the elevator. We were truly delighted the moment we opened the door! It featured a spacious, bright, and impeccably clean living room, a kitchen, and a generously sized bedroom. The harbor view from the window was absolutely stunning!
The pillows were a bit soft, so we simply stacked two together. The room was wonderfully quiet, with no noise disturbance whatsoever, allowing us to sleep soundly through the night.
We bought bread from Saint Honore Cake Shop on the ground floor and enjoyed some fragrant tea at the dining table in the living room. Watching the blue sky, white clouds, and fishing boats passing by outside the window was incredibly relaxing.
When checking out the next day, we conveniently stored our luggage at the front desk. The staff member there was also very helpful and polite.

Getting Around
- MTR/Trams: Mass Transit Railway (MTR) covers malls (Causeway Bay) and Kowloon (connect via Star Ferry). Ding Ding trams glide through Central for 2.3HKD(≈0.45 AUD) – hop on the upper deck!
- Buses/Minibuses: Buses cost 4–25HKD (≈0.78–4.90 AUD) but routes twist through hills – use Citymapper or HKeMobility. Red mini buses run 24/7 (8–20HKD≈1.57–3.91 AUD) – shout stops aloud!

BBebelianaEfficient check in and out. Location is perfect. Just take lift to lobby then it’s connected to a shopping mall with all kind of restaurants and shops. Also just above the MongKok East station. No matter you need to travel to which direction, Hong Kong island or new territories, just very convenient.
No time to try the swimming pool this time.
The Chinese restaurant at 3/F is good. service is warm. Have discount on food if you are hotel residence. Just the room is a bit dim. Room rate is reasonable . Overall is a nice hotel!

Location: Conveniently situated near the MTR, just a few mins to get to the hotel. The hotel is located in a lively nightlife district, so it can become noisy and crowded on weekends and holidays.
Room: Clean and well-maintained, equipped with all the essential amenities. The bathtub fits one person (so sorry but the bathtub is not suitable for tall people 🥲). The Wi-Fi connection was reliable enough for general use.
Facilities: Unfortunately, the pool is still closed.

SSuvrajit PaulWe stayed there 3 nights during our HK trip and had a great experience. The location is a good advantage, you will have bus, tram just in 2-3 minutes walk. MTR is also very nearby. rooms were neat and clean, very small though but thats how it is in entire HK. I highly recommend staying here for good connectivity. We also requested for a high floor with nice view and it was given, the view was really great from the room.
Feedback on improvement: To be honest, we did not like the buffet breakfast as they serve the same dish every single day, first day it was ok but we were bored from next day onwards with the options as it was the same thing for 3 consecutive days, I suggest hotel management to look into it and improve.

GGuest UserExcellent location, right next to Yau Ma Tei MTR station, and easily accessible by airport bus A21/A22. Check-in is on the 2nd floor, and they offer luggage storage. There's also a shared kitchen on the 2nd floor, complete with a fridge and microwave. Due to Hong Kong's plastic reduction policy, you'll need to bring your own toothbrush, slippers, and towel, or you can purchase them at the front desk. The room looks exactly like the pictures. They provide a key card that doubles as an elevator and room key, so security feels quite high. In the quad room, there's an en-suite bathroom with a separate shower area. While small, it's perfectly functional. Downstairs, there are many fantastic snack shops, all serving delicious food! Transportation is very convenient, and the beds are quite comfortable and clean. There's a slight creaking sound when turning over, but it's acceptable. Roommates are a bit of a lottery; this time, I ended up with night owls who came back late, showered, and organized their belongings, which really disturbed my sleep. Nearby, the Tin Hau Temple and Yau Ma Tei Police Station are great spots to check out, both within walking distance. And definitely try Chan Kee Roasted Goose – it's absolutely delicious!

GGuest UserVery nice hotel, however inside the room was a bit oldish furniture, not feeling very 100% clean to put my staff if it’s necessary on the floor.. nice view, with a pool.. you need to take a shuttle bus or bus to go to MRT to go to all other places, however it’s close to the airport. Staff are very respectful and friendly. Reasonable price, I will be back again however I will consider the distance from iconic spots as this was difficult when I wanted to return late as I had to take Uber which added to the price , the rest was easy and fun.

GGuest UserA charming guesthouse with a Hong Kong flair, it offered a lovely view, and I particularly enjoyed the small balcony. However, getting to and from the room was quite inconvenient. The elevator is located on the far side of the building, and even then, it only reaches the 7th floor, requiring guests to descend 4 flights of stairs to get to the accommodation. I opted for the staircase near the entrance instead, which still meant climbing 3 flights. Fortunately, I only had a backpack; I strongly advise anyone with heavy or multiple pieces of luggage to choose carefully. The space itself was adequate for a single person, but the wash basin was truly a nightmare. Squeezed between two load-bearing pillars, it was probably only 30cm wide, forcing you to turn sideways just to wash your hands. Washing your face was a real struggle. To make matters worse, if the tap was turned on too high, the floor drain couldn't cope and would leak water onto the floor. I'm stopping my complaints here!
