How to Get to Universal Studios Singapore: Transportation Guide

Universal Studios Singapore (USS) is located on Sentosa Island, just minutes from the mainland. Getting there is incredibly straightforward, with options ranging from budget-friendly public transit to scenic aerial routes.

The Most Popular Route: MRT + Sentosa Express (Monorail)

This is the most efficient and seamless way to reach the park for most independent travelers.

  • Step 1: Take the MRT (North-East Line or Circle Line) and alight at HarbourFront Station.
  • Step 2: Take Exit E to enter VivoCity shopping mall, and head up to Level 3.
  • Step 3: Board the Sentosa Express monorail and travel just one stop, alighting at Resorts World Station (formerly Waterfront Station).
  • Step 4: Follow the signs for a short 2-minute walk straight to the USS globe.
  • 💰 Cost: Approx. $4.50 AUD ($4.00 SGD). You can simply tap and go at the gantry using your contactless Australian bank card (Visa/Mastercard) or an EZ-Link card. Note: Leaving the island via the monorail is completely free!

Sentosa Boardwalk (Walking)

If you prefer a leisurely stroll and want to save a few dollars, walking across the covered boardwalk is highly recommended.

  • How to do it: From VivoCity Level 1, follow the signs out to the Sentosa Boardwalk. The 800-meter path features lush landscaping and canopy-covered travelators (moving walkways) to save your energy.
  • Travel Time: A pleasant 15 to 20-minute walk.
  • 💰 Cost: Free! Island entry via the boardwalk is free of charge.

Public Bus

Taking a direct bus drops you right into the basement of Resorts World Sentosa, eliminating the need to transfer at VivoCity.

  • From the city center: Board Bus 123, which runs through major areas like Orchard Road, Somerset, and Havelock, and drops you off directly at the Resorts World Sentosa bus stop.
  • From VivoCity: You can also catch the dedicated RWS8 bus from the VivoCity bus stop (Stop 14141). It takes you straight into the RWS basement for a flat fare of approx. $2.20 AUD.

Taxi or Ride-Hailing (Grab)

Perfect for families, groups, or anyone looking to maximize their park time without navigating crowds.

  • How to do it: Set your destination on Grab (or instruct your taxi driver) to Resorts World Sentosa Underground Drop-off Point.
  • Where to walk: Once dropped off in the basement, take the escalators up to Level 1 and follow the clear signage straight to the Universal Studios entrance.
  • 💰 Cost: Standard metered fare or Grab app pricing, plus an island vehicle admission fee ranging from approx. $2.20 to $6.70 AUD depending on the time of day.

Singapore Cable Car

If you want to turn your transit into a memorable sightseeing experience, arriving by air is the ultimate choice.

  • How to do it: Head to the HarbourFront Tower II cable car station (near HarbourFront MRT). Board the Mount Faber Line and enjoy 360-degree aerial views of the harbor as you cross over to Sentosa Station. From there, it is a short walk to the park or a quick intra-island bus/monorail transfer.

The location is excellent, right on Orchard Road. There's a bus stop directly outside, and the MRT is less than a 5-minute walk away. It's surrounded by large shopping malls, with ION diagonally opposite and Watsons right across the street, where you can buy medicine. Ya Kun Kaya Toast, a Singaporean breakfast favorite, is just a few steps from the MRT exit. It's super convenient to get to all the major attractions, and there's even an affordable supermarket opposite. The hotel facilities are great, it's very clean, and the environment is five-star, plus it offers excellent value for money. Prices were very friendly during the off-peak season! The rooms are much more spacious than other hotels. The service is very attentive, and you can store your luggage. I'll definitely stay here again next time, I'm extremely satisfied.

This was by far the best hotel of the trip! First, let's talk about the location. We booked a bay view room and it was absolutely stunning. The air conditioning was the only one in all the hotels we stayed at that we could actually turn off, which was great because I get cold easily (thumbs up!). Downstairs, in the Funan mall's basement two, the food court is fantastic. The bitter gourd fish slice noodles, roasted chicken rice, and Japanese bento boxes were all incredibly delicious and affordable. The only minor drawback is that the pool closes at 9 PM, which feels a bit early. The hotel is conveniently located near the National Gallery and has a park and Old Hill Street behind it. Highly recommend it, and no, I'm not a shill!

Arrived at the hotel around 2 or 3 AM, and the front desk was still staffed. Overall, it's pretty good. The location is excellent; I could walk to many places, and public transport like buses and the subway are also very convenient nearby. There's a Ya Kun Kaya Toast downstairs, which is delicious. My only comment is that they only do light cleaning once every three days, so the trash can gets pretty full, but the cleaning staff themselves were very nice and polite.

I stayed at Hotel Royal Queen for two nights during my three-day trip to Singapore, and it was a great experience! The room size was a bit bigger than other hotels in the same price range. The most important thing was the front desk staff, who were incredibly friendly and enthusiastic about helping! They spoke both English and Chinese. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Singapore 🤭

Love this hotel. Its very accessible to everything we want to go to. We had a kinda small room but I think its the standard specially when you are in a budget but for all the savings we got because of the accessible transpo via MRT, its worth it. There are also a lot of resto downstairs, nearest hawker is 5mins away. Money changer downstairs, free weighing scale in the lobby, lot of stores, mall nearby and of course the MRT beside the hotel is really great. Highly recommend!

The hotel is conveniently located right by the Singapore River. My kids absolutely loved the split-level design of the room. While the room isn't huge, the three-part bathroom setup was incredibly practical, allowing everyone to use it at different times. The front desk service was quite good, definitely not as bad as some previous reviews suggested.

The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from Havelock MRT station, offering convenient transportation and a variety of dining options, from seafood restaurants to budget fast-food joints. It's also not far from Chinatown and Orchard Road. The room size is decent, which is quite good for Singapore. The hotel's exterior looks grand, but the interior of the rooms is a bit old-fashioned. Particularly, there's only a bathtub, which even has long-standing water stains. The room amenities are on par with a basic budget hotel.

Easy access transportation in and out from Sentosa Island. Love the seaview and garden view from the rooftop and also just a walking distance to Beach Station in less than 10mins from the resort. Singapore Changi Airport Region Singapore|16.02km from downtown
We got here at 10pm just got off a flight and need to catch another flight early in the morning. It’s a massive resort, rooms are quite old. We can hear some kid running either upstairs of us or outside in the corridor at 2am, we can’t go back to sleep after this. Also the most scary part is that we found a metal pin on one of the beds, as my son said there was something weird, I’ve brought it to the front desk at checkout, and the front desk man said “****, I’ll talk to my manager “. So don’t think we’ll come back here again🙂. Gotta say the taxi service is pretty efficient as we needed to get to the airport at 4:30am.

Orchard Road Singapore|4.03km from downtown
The hotel's location is pretty convenient. There's an MRT station, Orchard Boulevard, right across from the main entrance, and there's a covered walkway so you don't have to worry about sun or rain on the way there. However, you should be prepared that Orchard Road, while seemingly close to everything, also means everything is equally distant. The room wasn't huge, but it was sufficient. I booked a twin room. The in-room facilities were moderately maintained, though the LG TV was new. I always make it a point to watch local TV when traveling and often connect my own devices to watch content, so a good, user-friendly TV is a plus for me. Nearby, there's a 7-Eleven and Tanglin Mall. Tanglin Mall has a supermarket, restaurants, and cafes. On the night I checked out, I realized I'd left an item in the room. This is definitely the guest's responsibility, and there's always a risk that lost items won't be found. However, I do want to mention that the hotel's process for assisting with the search was a bit perfunctory and could be improved.

You can store your luggage right after you enter, and they can also help you call a taxi. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The lobby is on the third floor, with sofas, fruits, and drinks. There's an outdoor swimming pool on the fifth floor. The room doors and floors are quite thin, so soundproofing isn't great during the day, but luckily it's relatively quiet at night. Definitely stay on the island! Sentosa at night is beautiful, and you don't have to rush through activities or dining. There are food options near the Skyline Luge, and I highly recommend the coconut shake. We got two rooms for 2700 during the May Day holiday, which felt like a great deal. The pool is stunning, and having a 7-Eleven right next to it is super convenient. You can also smoke behind the 7-Eleven. The MRT station is not far, just one stop from the beach and one stop from Universal Studios. You can also walk to both, as they're just a short stroll away. It rained heavily at Universal, but it was actually great because it wasn't hot, and the rain came and went, so it didn't disrupt our fun.

The room is admittedly quite small, but it works well for business stays or trips where you do not plan to spend much time indoors. The shower had strong water pressure, which was a nice plus, and the bed was comfortable enough for a good rest after a long day out. Breakfast could definitely be improved. The selection felt limited and leaned heavily toward less healthy processed items such as sausages. On one occasion, the fried chicken was also undercooked, which was disappointing. Overall, if you need convenient access to Sentosa and are traveling on a budget, this is still a good and convenient place to stay.

Stayed for two nights in Singapore. The bed sheets and duvet covers were quite clean; I didn't even need to use my disposable bedding. Overall, it was great, and the front desk service was excellent. Good value for money. I think I'll stay here again next time I visit, as it's very close to the MRT station, which is super convenient. A big thank you to all the staff at the hotel. Everything was perfect, except for the room being a bit small, making it difficult to open my suitcase.

Small but perfectly formed, this hotel has everything you need. The location is excellent, making it super convenient to get around, and there's plenty of stuff nearby. It'll definitely be my first choice next time I'm in town. Thanks for the great service, and I wish the hotel all the best!

The room size was decent, and the view from the window was okay, looking out onto the hotel's pool. The hotel's location is convenient, not far from Merlion Park, and transportation is easily accessible. We didn't try the hotel breakfast because we wanted to experience local specialty restaurants. One minor issue was the toilet seat in the bathroom – it lacked a soft-close mechanism, so it made a loud noise when lowered, requiring you to hold it down manually.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and had a very pleasant experience overall. The location is excellent, within walking distance to Bugis, Haji Lane and several MRT stations, which made getting around the city very convenient. The hotel itself has a modern, clean feel with a nice balance of comfort and style. The service was another highlight. Staff were friendly, professional, and always willing to help, whether it was check-in, directions, or general requests. It made the stay feel smooth and welcoming. I also enjoyed the facilities, especially the pool area and gym, which were well-kept and relaxing after a day out in the city. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel for both leisure and business travelers looking for a comfortable stay in a great location. I’d be happy to return on my next trip to Singapore.

Marina Bay Singapore|1.47km from downtown
I stayed at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay during a solo business trip to Singapore, mainly because I had meetings near Marina Bay Sands. The hotel checked many boxes for me, especially its convenient location, Halal certified breakfast buffet and walking distance access to train stations. The reception area on Level 4 immediately left a strong impression. The interior is beautiful and filled with greenery, somewhat reminding me of Gardens by the Bay. It feels modern, relaxing and very photogenic / Instagrammable at the same time. I appreciated the convenience of online check in and check out. During check in, I was assisted by Yarik, who was extremely friendly and welcoming. He thoughtfully gave me a room facing Marina Bay Sands, which I truly appreciated. Thank you again, Yarik. The room itself was spacious for a solo traveller. Everything was very clean, and I really enjoyed the bathtub and toiletries provided. Another thing I loved was the coffee selection in the room. There were different coffee strengths available, from mild to very strong, which was perfect for someone like me who enjoys coffee a lot. I visited the hotel gym as well. It is not huge, but good enough for a basic workout. Since I am an Anytime Fitness (AF) member, I also walked to the nearby Suntec City AF branch, which was very convenient from the hotel. The location is excellent. Promenade MRT Station and Esplanade MRT Station are both within about five minutes’ walk, and the Merlion Park area is nearby too, making it easy for me to go jogging. Breakfast was fantastic with many choices. I especially loved the blended juice with ginger and cinnamon. On checkout day, although my late checkout request was initially declined by Lydia at the reception counter because the hotel was full, the team later managed to accommodate my request after I explained my situation. Thanks as well to Yi Quan for assisting during checkout. Overall, this hotel was amazing. I genuinely enjoyed the stay, especially the thoughtful service and the Halal certified breakfast buffet.

Marina Bay Singapore|1.58km from downtown
The hotel's location is indeed good, but it's not very Mandarin-friendly; few staff speak it, so we didn't really experience much service. The room size is quite reasonable, and I didn't try the breakfast, so no comment there. The pool is great; it's mostly shaded in the morning. There were quite a few downsides though. I had requested a room away from the elevator, but when I checked in at 5 PM, I was told the only available room was right by the elevator, or I'd have to wait another hour. I don't really understand why; I paid a lot of money just to sleep. If I had arrived early, fair enough, but checking in after 5 PM and still getting that situation felt like I had no priority whatsoever. I'm not sure what kind of room was above me, but it definitely didn't sound like someone was living there. There were constant banging noises and things being moved around, even at 3 AM.

The room was nice and the surrounding area was very quiet! I stayed for several days, and on some of those days, my neighbors were Indian or Malaysian families with kids who made a lot of noise late into the night and started up again very early in the morning. However, the bedding was clean and comfortable, and the room design was sensible, making it look very tidy. Overall, it was a good check-in experience, though the check-out time of 12 PM was strictly enforced!

This is definitely bang for the buck than other hotels in Singapore. The location is not that far from bus stations and Kallang station MRT. Since I love walking, it was not really a big deal for me to walk for 10mins or less. It is also located in Geylang, so it’s very quiet. My mom and I were able to sleep well. Amenities is spot on, very clean and secured. Even the front desk staff were very helpful during our stay. Would definitely consider staying here again if we visit Singapore in the future. Highly recommended!

Singapore Changi Airport Region Singapore|17.83km from downtown
✈️Since I had an early flight at 7 AM, I opted for an airport hotel for my last night in Singapore instead of staying downtown. 😂When I booked, I saw the room pictures and size, and I just thought it was pathetically small. But I figured it was just for one night, so I'd make do. Price-wise, at around 1000 RMB, it's definitely not good value for money. Its only advantage is convenience, being close to the airport terminal. You walk out the door and can see Changi Airport's grand waterfall. 🤓The front desk staff were very enthusiastic. Entering the guest room area, there wasn't the usual hustle and bustle I'd imagined. It was huge inside, with many rooms, like a maze. Overall, it felt very quiet, and the carpet had excellent soundproofing. Pushing luggage wasn't a struggle at all. 🤪Opening the room door, even though I was mentally prepared, I still exclaimed, ”It's so small!” The bed was right there as soon as you opened the door, and there was even that strange pink lighting reminiscent of old-school street hair salons. 🛏️The bed is electric and can be raised, which is convenient for watching TV. There are foldable tables and chairs by the bed, saving a lot of space. 😜The living space saved was all given to the bathroom. The sink, toilet, and shower cubicle were all lined up, achieving a good wet/dry separation. Many hotels in Hong Kong are also small but can't manage this kind of wet/dry separation; they could learn a thing or two. 🥰The stay experience was also good. The mattress was a little soft, but the support was sufficient. The soundproofing was also excellent; I barely heard any other noise, which is a big plus. 🤣After all that praise, let's talk about the downsides. Check-in time is 6 PM, which is quite late, and early check-in isn't an option. Check-out time is 9 AM, so sleeping in is impossible. Luckily, I had to leave at 5 AM, so I didn't have that problem. Also, the room's AC temperature is restricted to 21 to 24℃. Even set to 24℃ with the fan on the lowest setting, it still felt very cold, and the duvet was very thin. Since there are no windows, I was afraid it would get stuffy if I turned it off, so I just had to wear more clothes. 🥳Overall, the hotel room design is very smart. Although small, it doesn't significantly impact short stays. If you have higher demands for your living experience, you might want to consider the other Crowne Plaza.
