How to Get to Universal Studios Singapore: Transportation Guide

Universal Studios Singapore (USS) is located on Sentosa Island, just minutes from the mainland. Getting there is incredibly straightforward, with options ranging from budget-friendly public transit to scenic aerial routes.

The Most Popular Route: MRT + Sentosa Express (Monorail)

This is the most efficient and seamless way to reach the park for most independent travelers.

  • Step 1: Take the MRT (North-East Line or Circle Line) and alight at HarbourFront Station.
  • Step 2: Take Exit E to enter VivoCity shopping mall, and head up to Level 3.
  • Step 3: Board the Sentosa Express monorail and travel just one stop, alighting at Resorts World Station (formerly Waterfront Station).
  • Step 4: Follow the signs for a short 2-minute walk straight to the USS globe.
  • 💰 Cost: Approx. $4.50 AUD ($4.00 SGD). You can simply tap and go at the gantry using your contactless Australian bank card (Visa/Mastercard) or an EZ-Link card. Note: Leaving the island via the monorail is completely free!

Sentosa Boardwalk (Walking)

If you prefer a leisurely stroll and want to save a few dollars, walking across the covered boardwalk is highly recommended.

  • How to do it: From VivoCity Level 1, follow the signs out to the Sentosa Boardwalk. The 800-meter path features lush landscaping and canopy-covered travelators (moving walkways) to save your energy.
  • Travel Time: A pleasant 15 to 20-minute walk.
  • 💰 Cost: Free! Island entry via the boardwalk is free of charge.

Public Bus

Taking a direct bus drops you right into the basement of Resorts World Sentosa, eliminating the need to transfer at VivoCity.

  • From the city center: Board Bus 123, which runs through major areas like Orchard Road, Somerset, and Havelock, and drops you off directly at the Resorts World Sentosa bus stop.
  • From VivoCity: You can also catch the dedicated RWS8 bus from the VivoCity bus stop (Stop 14141). It takes you straight into the RWS basement for a flat fare of approx. $2.20 AUD.

Taxi or Ride-Hailing (Grab)

Perfect for families, groups, or anyone looking to maximize their park time without navigating crowds.

  • How to do it: Set your destination on Grab (or instruct your taxi driver) to Resorts World Sentosa Underground Drop-off Point.
  • Where to walk: Once dropped off in the basement, take the escalators up to Level 1 and follow the clear signage straight to the Universal Studios entrance.
  • 💰 Cost: Standard metered fare or Grab app pricing, plus an island vehicle admission fee ranging from approx. $2.20 to $6.70 AUD depending on the time of day.

Singapore Cable Car

If you want to turn your transit into a memorable sightseeing experience, arriving by air is the ultimate choice.

  • How to do it: Head to the HarbourFront Tower II cable car station (near HarbourFront MRT). Board the Mount Faber Line and enjoy 360-degree aerial views of the harbor as you cross over to Sentosa Station. From there, it is a short walk to the park or a quick intra-island bus/monorail transfer.
  • 💰 Cost: Approx. $39.00 AUD for a round-trip ticket.

Singapore River Singapore|2.11km from downtown
We stayed for 5 nights and 6 days in a Grand Deluxe Waterfront King room. The view of the Singapore River and Marina Bay Sands was great. However, I was disappointed with the housekeeping service. There were times when the sheets weren't changed and towels weren't replenished, which was a drawback in terms of service. Despite that, the good view and convenience, as mentioned earlier, make it a decent choice.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I stayed for 4 nights during my trip to Singapore and it was a truly satisfying experience. The biggest advantage is definitely the location. It's just a few minutes' walk to Orchard Road and close to Orchard MRT, which made shopping and sightseeing incredibly convenient. There are also many shopping malls and great restaurants nearby, making it easy to get around. The room was spacious and very clean, and the bed was so comfortable that I could relax easily every day. The room was well-maintained, and I appreciated the complimentary mini-bar, bottled water, and coffee. Above all, the staff were incredibly friendly. From check-in to check-out, their responses were quick, and they always greeted me with a bright smile, making my stay very pleasant. The breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious options, and I could see why the hotel's Carousel restaurant is so famous. If I visit Singapore again, I would definitely choose this hotel. I highly recommend it, especially for those planning a shopping and sightseeing trip.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 I had a wonderful stay at Marina Bay Sands. The room was spacious, clean, and offered stunning views of the Singapore skyline. The staff were friendly, professional, and made the check-in and check-out process smooth. The infinity pool was definitely the highlight of the stay, and the facilities were well maintained. The location is excellent, with easy access to shopping, dining, and attractions. Overall, it was a luxurious and memorable experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Singapore.

First off, the location is incredibly convenient. Getting around is a breeze, and we could walk to most attractions. Even after a concert at 11 PM, we could easily take the subway back, and the walk felt very safe. Secondly, the room was bigger than expected, which was a real treat in high-density Singapore. The facilities were new, and they provided complimentary bottled water. The front desk staff were absolutely wonderful – so warm and attentive. The hotel's overall environment was fantastic too, very quiet and clean. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Singapore. Five stars!

Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! It's so good, I have to say it three times! I booked a Bay View King Room, and before arriving, I was a bit worried after reading some reviews. But it turned out to be truly outstanding! The room was clean. For the same price, you can't compare it to what you'd get back home, but this is Singapore! The hygiene, convenient transportation, and surrounding environment are all top-notch, absolutely superb! It's right next to Funan Mall! Across the street are St Andrew's Cathedral and a museum. It's a maximum 15-minute walk to Merlion Park (900 meters from the hotel), 5 minutes to the Old Hill Street Police Station building, Clarke Quay, 15 minutes to Fort Canning Park's Tree Tunnel, 20 minutes to various museums and Chinatown. Plus, it's only a 3-minute walk to City Hall MRT station – incredibly convenient! Ya Kun Kaya Toast is right inside Funan Mall, and Song Fa Bak Kut Teh is directly opposite the Old Hill Street Police Station, so convenient! The hotel service was also excellent. On check-in day, we met a guy who spoke Chinese, and he arranged a room for us directly facing Marina Bay Sands – absolutely beautiful! Next time I visit Singapore, I'll definitely stay at Wyndham again! P.S.: The colorful building in picture 3 is right behind the hotel. If you keep walking in that direction, you'll find the Fort Canning Park Tree Tunnel!

The room was bigger than I expected, quite clean, and the staff were very friendly. The only thing is you have to request new towels from the front desk every day. This hotel puts a lot of emphasis on its common areas, offering a kitchen, laundry room, and microwave.

The room, including the bathroom, is about 20 square meters. We booked a twin room, and each bed is between 1 and 1.2 meters wide. To shower, you have to step over the bathtub as there's no separate shower cubicle. Opposite the twin beds, there's a long table that can fit two 20-inch suitcases. The hotel is less than 100 meters in a straight line from Exit A of Bras Basah MRT station. It's located on Queen Street, which is a one-way street connecting to a main road, making it very quiet – perfect for light sleepers. The hotel elevator lobby has a direct drinking water dispenser with ice water, which you can heat up in your room with the electric kettle, very convenient. The front desk has two Chinese staff members who can communicate fluently in Mandarin. We booked for 4 nights, but there were no rooms available for the 5th night, so we had to move to the nearby Landmark Village Hotel. The front desk there was not friendly towards Chinese guests. It's about 20 meters from Bencoolen MRT station and approximately 300 meters on foot from the Queen's Hotel. The twin beds at the Landmark Village Hotel are only 0.8 meters wide, so you have to be careful not to fall off while sleeping. The hallways are quite narrow, and noise from guests across the hall was very disruptive.

Lavender Singapore|3.37km from downtown
Let's start with the downsides. The room was small and old, and there was a sewer smell in the shower. There was no bottled water, only a filtered water dispenser, and the filtered water tasted just like tap water. When we first checked in, the shower hose was split and sprayed water from the side, making it unusable. Housekeeping might not have noticed it. We reported it to the front desk, and they quickly sent a maintenance worker to replace it with a new hose – kudos for the efficiency. For the first two nights, the air conditioning in the room was practically non-existent; it was incredibly humid and hot. After we couldn't take it anymore and complained to the front desk, they immediately fixed it. After the repair, the AC was powerful, but it felt like the temperature couldn't be adjusted high enough. Even at 27 degrees Celsius, it was freezing. When we told the front desk, they said we'd have to turn it on and off to maintain a comfortable temperature (ー ー;). Now for the positives. The biggest advantage is the hotel's excellent location. Lavender MRT station is right outside, making it incredibly convenient to go anywhere. There's also the Koufu food court nearby, where most food vendors speak Chinese, making dining very easy. Plus, the food around the area is quite good. Before booking this hotel, I saw reviews mentioning ants and cockroaches, but our room was fine, we didn't see any, so perhaps it's only in some specific rooms. Daily room cleaning was also very thorough and well-done. The staff were all friendly, although not every front desk agent spoke Chinese. Overall, the value for money in Singapore is quite high. You can't have it all, ^ - ^. In short, if you have any issues, just go to the front desk, and they can generally resolve them for you. It's quite good, and I would consider this hotel again for future visits.

The room was great, and the location was excellent. It was convenient to take public transportation from the MRT, and it wasn't a long walk either. The hotel also had a fantastic pool, about 100 meters long and 20 meters wide, plus a hot spring for soaking – truly comprehensive facilities! My stay at JEN Singapore Tanglin by Shangri-La was fantastic! The location is superb; it's just a few minutes' walk to the MRT station and directly connected to Tanglin Mall, making dining and shopping incredibly convenient. It's a peaceful oasis tucked away from the hustle and bustle, yet still very close to the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The room was clean and tidy, with a modern and refreshing design. The bay window offered a comfortable spot to enjoy the view, and the soft bedding ensured a great night's sleep. The front desk and room service staff were warm, polite, and responsive. Breakfast offered a wide variety of options, blending both Chinese and Western dishes, and the taste was excellent. The outdoor pool and gym facilities were also very pleasant. This is an older hotel with basic facilities. It's comparable to a 3-star hotel in China, and the breakfast is about what you'd expect from a 3-4 star hotel there. Of course, the price is also around 300, but in Singapore dollars. If you're not traveling with family, you'd find much better standard room options and accommodations for the same price. Our family of four stayed here specifically for the two large beds. The hotel's location isn't far from the MRT station. Haji Lane and BOSS HOTEL (the starting point for the Legoland shuttle) are all within walking distance, and there are many bus routes nearby, making transportation very convenient. There are plenty of food and drink options downstairs, and there's an Indian minimart across the street from the hotel that's much cheaper than the 7-Eleven down the block. I misplaced something and when I called, they immediately knew which room I was in and what I had lost, which shows excellent coordination between the front desk and housekeeping. Thumbs up for that!

The hotel's location is excellent. The bus stop is a short walk to the left, and the metro station is a short walk to the right, both just a few minutes away. The staff are very helpful and friendly, answering all our questions in detail and clearly. We were able to store our luggage for free after check-out, which was great as we checked out at noon and didn't pick it up until 10 PM. Getting to the airport by metro is also very convenient. As for the room, you get what you pay for. At this price point, it's one of the cheapest options in this area. The rooms are quite small; two people have to squeeze past each other to move around. However, it's a case of 'small but perfectly formed' – it has everything you need. Even hotels costing over a thousand yuan here only offer about 15 square meters, so for around 500 yuan, this place offers decent value for money.

The hotel is very clean and comfortable. It’s well‑located, close to the city centre and just a short walk from the MRT station , very convenient. The staff are friendly and helpful. The only thing to note is that the air‑conditioning throughout the whole building is extremely cold, even when adjusted.

I was back here after a while..there were some small changes here and there. Yes..keep it up for improvements! I requested for checking out at 1.00pm the next day and told the staff to take note so that their other staff would be aware as well. They said that it would be noted in the system. However, I still received a call just before 12 noon but I did not answer it as I was in the bathroom. Hmmm..oh well.. All else were acceptable for a short stay. Thank you.

Orchard Road Singapore|3.66km from downtown
This hotel offers good value for money on Orchard Road. It's perfectly fine for a solo traveler, but if there are two or more of you, it's better to book separate rooms. I don't recommend the breakfast, but the fitness room is quite good – a decent size with various dumbbell weights, a bench, treadmill, bike, and a stepper, and it doesn't feel cramped. There's a pool, but the view is blocked by other buildings. It's a good option if it's in the late 100,000 KRW range, but I wouldn't recommend it if it's in the mid to high 200,000 KRW range.

I was very satisfied with the Indian and Chinese room service staff. The front desk had a young Indian man with short hair who was quite helpful; he gave me a room that, while not pool-view, didn't have any obstructed views. I didn't experience any other hotel services. Overall, the room was small, which was expected, and the location was good – convenient for getting anywhere. During my one-week trip to Singapore, my impression of the country was that the service industry, in general, is quite Western-oriented.

I stayed for 2 nights and the hotel is super close to a lot of places including china town, Lau Pa Sat and Clarke Quay. Merlion is also not far to walk, maybe about 20 minutes! The staff were super attentive and very helpful with anything I needed, the check in/check out process was also very smooth ☺️ I used the pool for a bit and it was very clean and lovely views. They also have a small gym which was nice, I would definitely stay here again! 😁

I stayed here once in May, and this time I arrived at 3:30 PM and had to wait an hour for a room. The hotel's location is pretty good, with a bus stop right outside and close to the subway station. There are also famous attractions nearby, and the service is excellent. However, there were too many noisy children, and the soundproofing in the rooms wasn't great, which affected my experience.

Marina Bay Singapore|1.47km from downtown
The hotel's location is excellent; we could walk to Merlion Park, Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, Clarke Quay, Fort Canning Park, and more. The room had purified water available, and the power outlets were compatible with mainland Chinese plugs. The room had a great view, with a triangular layout offering sea views from two sides, though my particular room didn't face the sea. The outdoor pool was comfortable and gave a strong resort vibe. Just a small suggestion: the birdcage in the lobby is too small, and the bird looks quite sad. Could it be released, or perhaps replaced with a larger cage? Using a mechanical bird that chirps would achieve the same effect without the ethical concerns.

Booked the room for the Marina Bay view, and got a room on the 34th floor. The Sands view was from the side, which was still pretty good. The twin room was perfectly fine for two adults and two kids. The hygiene was also decent. The only slight inconvenience was having to stand in the bathtub to shower. I recommend paying the deposit in cash, as it's quicker and more convenient to get back.

Marina Bay Singapore|1.61km from downtown
My husband and I stayed at Pan Pacific to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to our expectations. The service was underwhelming from the start. The reception staff were not particularly approachable or welcoming, and we did not experience the level of hospitality we expected from a hotel of this standard. Our arrival experience was also less than ideal. We parked in the hotel’s car park expecting direct lift access to the lobby, but there wasn’t one from the area we used. We had to carry our luggage up the escalator and walk through part of a restaurant before reaching the hotel lobby. This was inconvenient, especially with luggage, and not the first impression we had expected from a 5-star hotel. One of our biggest concerns was the room amenities. When we called to request hot water, we were told to boil it ourselves using the in-room electric kettle. Normally, this would not have been an issue, except the kettle’s filter was rusty. We requested a replacement, but the second kettle was in a similar condition. This was disappointing and raised concerns about cleanliness. Another minor disappointment was the lack of basic bathroom amenities. The room did not include a comb or shaver, and there was no information indicating whether these items were available upon request. While I understand that many hotels have adopted more sustainable practices by reducing single-use amenities, clearer communication or the option to request these essentials would have been appreciated, especially at a 5-star hotel. The room was advertised as 46㎡, but it felt much smaller and more compact than we had expected. On a positive note, the housekeeping team did a good job of keeping the room clean, and the 24-hour in-room dining was a definite highlight and very convenient. The Marina Bay view was pleasant, although it wasn’t particularly breathtaking. Overall, there was nothing particularly memorable that made the stay feel like a luxury experience. Given Pan Pacific’s reputation, I expected much more. Having stayed at other 5-star hotels, I genuinely thought Pan Pacific would offer a better experience. We did not feel that the overall stay justified the price we paid. The atmosphere felt rather ordinary, and the experience lacked the warmth, attentiveness, and attention to detail we were hoping for in a luxury hotel. As this was meant to be a special anniversary getaway, it was disappointing that the experience fell short of our expectations. Everyone’s expectations are different, and others may have a better experience than we did. Unfortunately, based on our stay, we are unlikely to return and would consider other hotels for future occasions.

Chinatown Singapore|0.83km from downtown
This hotel just looks amazing from the exterior and so we decided to give it a go despite the hefty price tag. The check-in experience was superb with Felicia - friendly, fast and efficient. She even offered us an extension on our check-out time (without our prompting) when hearing in passing that we have a late flight out. The room was surprisingly tight and cramped. The outlook was good though - looking into greenery which this hotel prides itself on. All would have been well if not for the bathroom - the mosaic tiles in the shower recess hid a lot of mould and dirt. It felt very unclean, not because the cleaners do a bad job but simply the design does not warrant effective cleaning. The water pressure is very low - perhaps why there is no rain shower (not that it mattered to us) for such a supposedly top class hotel. The water trickles out from the water filter unit. Limited bench space for toiletries. On closer look at the pool area, while having a spectacular outlook, it is again such a shame that similarly bad design or poor choice of material used, resulted in wear and tear being shown so much worst than otherwise. The supporting structure of the 'birdcage' cabanas that dips into the pool are badly eroded so it is not very pleasant when you are swimming near them. I would love to say that I would be back, because the staff and location are amazing but unfortunately, for that price range, I see better value elsewhere.

I emailed the hotel to mention it was my boyfriend's belated birthday celebration. They provided a cake, candles, and cookies for us. The hotel still feels very new. The breakfast was good, the room comfortable, and the location is excellent, very close to Marina Bay. I went for a run around the city in the morning, which was fantastic! However, one thing I feel could be better compared to other places is that the minibar isn't free; we only got plain water. It would be nice to have some mineral water, small snacks, soft drinks, or juice.

The room was nice and the surrounding area was very quiet! I stayed for several days, and on some of those days, my neighbors were Indian or Malaysian families with kids who made a lot of noise late into the night and started up again very early in the morning. However, the bedding was clean and comfortable, and the room design was sensible, making it look very tidy. Overall, it was a good check-in experience, though the check-out time of 12 PM was strictly enforced!

This is definitely bang for the buck than other hotels in Singapore. The location is not that far from bus stations and Kallang station MRT. Since I love walking, it was not really a big deal for me to walk for 10mins or less. It is also located in Geylang, so it’s very quiet. My mom and I were able to sleep well. Amenities is spot on, very clean and secured. Even the front desk staff were very helpful during our stay. Would definitely consider staying here again if we visit Singapore in the future. Highly recommended!

We had a very comfortable stay at Yotelair Singapore Changi Airport. The location is extremely convenient, especially for travellers with an overnight transit or early/late flight. The room was clean, compact, and well designed, with everything we needed for a short rest. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the staff were helpful. It was a bit pricey, but very worth it for the convenience and comfort inside the airport. Highly recommended for transit travellers.

This hotel in Singapore sees a lot of foot traffic. The doorman at the entrance, who was quite elderly, told me to push my luggage up the ramp myself instead of offering to help, even though I'm a woman. However, I saw him assist other foreign guests with their luggage multiple times, which made me wonder if I was overthinking it. The hotel is located at one end of Orchard Road, very close to the Botanic Gardens, which are within walking distance. While it's not very close to the MRT, there's a bus stop right outside. If you're coming from the airport, you can take a direct bus, though it takes a bit longer. The first Chinese staff member who assisted me spoke very standard Mandarin and was very easygoing. Many airline crew members stay at this hotel. The rooms are a bit small, and so are the beds. The hotel pool looks exactly like it does in the photos!

A great choice if you’re looking for a stylish and comfortable stay in the city!
