How to Get from Macau Airport to Your Hotel
There are several different ways to get into Macau city (and your hotel) from the airport, including complimentary hotel shuttles, the public bus system, the LRT, taxis, and private airport transfers.

The Free Hotel Shuttle Bus from Macau Airport
Yes, it’s real! There’s a free hotel shuttle bus that goes between Macau Airport to several popular hotels in the city, such as The Venetian, The Londoner, and Galaxy Macau. You don’t have to be a guest at these hotels to take the shuttle either; just hop on at the airport and hop off when you like!
Catching the Public Bus from the Airport to Macau
To find the bus into the city, simply exit the terminal from the arrivals hall, and follow the signs for public transport. The standard cash bus fare is MOP6. Have the exact amount ready because buses do not give change. Macau Pass is another payment option. Use the transport authority’s route information to find a stop near your actual hotel.
Macau Light Rapid Transit
Another convenient option to get into the city is via Macau’s LRT. Once you’ve gotten your luggage, follow signs to Airport Station beside the terminal. The Taipa Line serves the Taipa and Cotai area and continues to Barra on the peninsula. Adult single-journey fares across the network are MOP6, MOP8, MOP10 or MOP12, depending on the trip.
Taipa Line service hours are:
- Monday–Thursday: 6:30 am–11:15 pm.
- Friday–Sunday and public holidays: 6:30 am–11:59 pm.
Getting a Taxi from Macau Airport
Like all airports, you’ll find the taxi queue directly outside the arrivals hall. the official taxi queue. The published starting fare is MOP21 for the first 1.6 km, with MOP2 for each additional 220 metres. Airport pick-ups add MOP8, and luggage in the boot costs MOP3 per item.
Keep some local cash available and show the driver the hotel address. For a group, splitting the fare can make this a sensible choice.

Should I Fly to Macau or Hong Kong from Australia?
The easy answer is that you’re visiting Macau, flying into Macau is usually the better option. But that's only if you can find a flight time that suits you; there are more frequent flights to Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) from major Australian capital cities, and it's also not that far away from Macau. Your best bet is to check prices and dates for both airports from Australia to see which one is cheaper and more convenient for you.
If you’re flying to Hong Kong, you’ll have to travel to Macau by coach or ferry (more details below). This adds a border transfer, but it can work well.

How to Get from Hong Kong Airport to Macau
Decided to fly into Hong Kong instead of Macau? You can either get to Macau directly from the airport without passing through Hong Kong immigration, or go into the city before making your way across the border.
SkyPier Transfer Coach
Your best bet is to catch the SkyPier bus, which lets you skip going through immigration in Hong Kong. To do so, follow these steps:
- Step 1: After landing, follow the signs inside the Hong Kong Airport terminal to Mainland/Macao and Transfer Area.
- Step 2: Purchase your bus tickets in Transfer Area E2.
- Step 3: Give the staff your baggage tag receipts so they can organise your luggage for you, making sure it will arrive at the SkyPier terminal.
- Step 4: You’ll then get on the Automated People Mover (APM) which will take you to the SkyPier terminal, where you can collect your bags and board your bus to Macau.
The bus from SkyPier terminal goes directly to HZMB Macau Port, where you will then pass through Macau’s immigration.
High-Speed Ferry from Hong Kong to Macau
Ferries run between Hong Kong–Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan and Macau, with the crossing taking around an hour. It’s a useful option if you’re spending time in Hong Kong before continuing your trip.
Choose your arrival terminal around where you’re staying. Outer Harbour puts you on the Macau Peninsula, while Taipa is more convenient for Cotai’s resorts and Macau Airport. TurboJET serves both terminals, and Cotai Water Jet runs between Sheung Wan and Taipa.
If you’re coming straight from Hong Kong Airport, you’ll first need to clear immigration, collect your bags and travel into Sheung Wan.

Walk for about 5 minutes from Exit C2 of Prince Edward Station and you will see a tour bus. Show the QR code and you can get on the bus and find your own seat. The tour buses are very new and nice. The Venetian goes up and down at the same place. Trip can have as many shifts as the official website would be better

What Lounges Are Available at Macau Airport
There are three lounges available at Macau Airport: the Plaza Premium Lounge, the Plaza First Lounge, and the Air Macau Lounge.
Plaza Premium Lounge is the one to look at if you’re planning on entering a lounge; it’s located in the airside departures area, on the mezzanine above Gate 9/9A. Use the escalator opposite those gates to get up there; you can book your access through Trip.com.
Plaza Premium First is bit of a fancier experience, less crowded, but more expensive.

Where to Eat and Shop
If you’re hungry before check-in, head upstairs to the public mezzanine, where you’ll find McDonald’s, Macau Daily and Starbucks. McDonald’s opens at 6 am, making it an option for breakfast before an early flight.
There’s more choice after security. China Garden, Good Fortune Kitchen and Pepper Lunch Express are on the mezzanine, along with Zhen Dim Sum Kitchen on the southern side. For a coffee before boarding, there’s Blooom Coffee in the northern departures area and another Starbucks after security. Pepper Lunch Express stays open until 11:30 pm, while San Mou I lists service through to the last departure.
Forgot to pick up a gift? Koi Kei Bakery has an outlet on the northern mezzanine after security, so there’s another chance to buy something from one of Macau’s best-known souvenir bakeries. You’ll also find DUTY ZERO by cdf on the way towards Gates 1–9 for a browse before boarding.
Wi-Fi and Mobile Data
There’s free Wi-Fi at Macau Airport, so you can get online without switching on your Australian roaming. Once you leave the terminal, an eSIM is handy for finding your hotel and checking transport routes. Choose a plan that explicitly includes Macau; if your trip also takes you through Hong Kong, a package covering both saves you setting up a second connection.
Luggage Storage
Have a few hours to explore before your flight? You can leave your suitcase at the airport’s 24-hour luggage-storage counter, on the departures level before security.
Storage costs MOP10 per bag per hour, capped at MOP80 for 24 hours. That makes a four-hour outing MOP40 per bag, while anything from eight to 24 hours costs MOP80. Part-hours are rounded up, so four hours and ten minutes counts as five hours.
Keep your collection receipt—you’ll need it to get your bags back. If you’re spending your final day near your hotel, asking reception to hold your luggage may save you a trip to the airport.

Definitely avoid the smoking rooms – they reek of damp and mold. The non-smoking rooms, however, are excellent, with fresh air and comfortable bedding. A big shout-out to Manager Cai for helping us switch rooms; it really saved our trip!
The shower's hot and cold water mixing was a bit inconsistent, alternating between hot and cold every couple of seconds, but the water pressure was decent.
While Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16's facilities are indeed a bit dated, its location is superb. It's just a 6-7 minute walk to Senado Square, and the bus stop right outside offers great connections everywhere. You can scan the QR code on the bus driver's window with WeChat to get a payment code, then scan that code on the sensor to pay for your ride with WeChat.

This time for our family trip to Macau, we chose Studio City. In a nutshell: everything about this hotel is great, except for the rooms.
For nearly two thousand a night (breakfast not included), opening the room door was a disappointment. The space was average, and the facilities were quite old. The room view was nothing special. The room quality was basically on par with an older 5-star hotel costing a few hundred yuan.
However, the room snacks and minibar were free, and they also provided children's toiletries, so the service was still very good.

Our experience at Crowne Plaza Macau was fantastic! We booked two rooms. The hotel environment is comfortable, and the rooms are spacious and modern. Overall, I had an excellent stay at this hotel. The facilities are magnificent, the room was very comfortable, and the service was remarkable for the vast majority of my stay. I truly enjoyed the experience and, in many respects, the establishment deserves its five-star reputation.
However, I do want to mention an important point for future guests regarding the hotel's transportation service.
On the night of the fireworks, the hotel transported us to old Macau. We naturally assumed we could also use the hotel's transportation to return after the event. However, upon returning, we learned that the buses were reserved for VIP guests and that we couldn't board.
Therefore, I recommend that future guests clearly check with the hotel, before departing, if the offered transportation also includes the return journey and if it is accessible to all guests or only to VIP guests. This information was not clear to us, and we ended up having to arrange our own transportation to get back to the hotel.
I can perfectly understand that a bus might be full or that the hotel has a particular policy for certain guests. What was most disappointing was how the situation was handled. A staff member spoke to us very abruptly and raised their voice, even though we were simply trying to understand how to get back to the hotel.
I reported the situation to the hotel upon my return. I was listened to, but unfortunately, no one contacted me the next day to follow up or simply acknowledge what had happened.
It's a shame, because apart from this incident, my stay was truly excellent. A simple gesture of attention or a follow-up from management would probably have completely changed my impression of this situation.
Despite everything, I still have a very good overall impression of the hotel and the quality of its facilities. I just hope that the round-trip transportation service will be explained more clearly to future guests and that this type of situation will be handled better in the future.FromPKR 25,507

The room was quite spacious, especially the bathroom, which had a bathtub, a shower, and still plenty of room. The air had a slightly musty smell, but it was tolerable! The service attitude was similar to what you'd find in China, with very polite greeters! There wasn't much for breakfast, and many places nearby only opened at 10 AM, though there were a few 24-hour shops. The restaurant downstairs closed at 10:30 PM! There's no **car**, but there's a bus stop nearby. If you're not familiar with the area, you won't know how to take the bus. This hotel offers excellent service. I was a bit worried at first because it's an older hotel, but when I arrived, I found that the facilities and equipment were meticulously maintained, and the cleanliness was impeccable. There were no 'legendary' creepy crawlies. The hotel's laundry room has plenty of machines, so you don't have to worry about waiting in line. There's also a gym and a swimming pool. For dining, there are both Chinese and Western restaurants, and a coffee shop on the ground floor with pretty good coffee. I stayed for two consecutive days and really appreciate the service from the front desk. As a first-timer in Macau 🇲🇴, I felt very well taken care of, and they helped me solve many annoying little problems! The housekeeping team was also very thoughtful; in the morning, I forgot to close my door while resting in the room, and when they saw me come out, they specifically reminded me. The price offers incredible value for money (compared to similarly priced hotels in Hong Kong, it's truly a no-brainer). They found out it was my husband's birthday and specially decorated the room, even upgrading our room type – that was incredibly thoughtful! Everything else was great, and with a bus stop right downstairs, getting around was super convenient. If I had one minor complaint, it would be about the Fuguilou (Rich Tower) building – perhaps because it's newer, the bath towels shed a lot of lint. After drying off, my body and face were covered in fuzz, which was quite annoying. The smaller hand towels didn't have this problem. Also, the soundproofing in the room wasn't the best. This stay at the Grand Hyatt Macau was very satisfying. Even after the Mid-Autumn Festival, the weather remained scorching hot. I tried out the pool facilities; it's a small, standard pool where you can actually swim, unlike other hotels whose pools are designed more for wading or soaking. There were even a few competitive swimmers timing themselves here. Looking around, I also noticed a small, heated round pool, which I unfortunately only saw when I was leaving.
I personally prefer the Grand Hyatt Macau's design because everything adheres to American standards. This means higher ceilings, tall bathroom doors, wide entryways, and spacious elevators – none of that cramped feeling you get in some other hotels. My stay was between two holidays, after the Mid-Autumn Festival and before China's National Day, so it wasn't crowded at all, allowing for a bit more tranquility. The only minor drawback was the central air conditioning; I couldn't find the thermostat to adjust the temperature in the middle of the night.
When I checked in, I also had a friendly chat with the front desk agent about the difference between booking on a platform and booking directly on their official website. Even as a member, there aren't many discounts available for booking. If the hotel could offer more incentives for members, I believe I'd stay here more often. I usually opt for The Parisian Macao or Studio City Macau, staying more frequently at a lower price point versus a more expensive hotel where I'd only stay once or twice. The location is fantastic! As soon as you exit the hotel, turn left, and you're right on the path to the Municipal Affairs Bureau, the Na Tcha Temple, and the Ruins of St. Paul's. It's incredibly close.

Here's the best part: the free shuttle for the Grand Lisboa is only about 200-300 meters away (that's the Grand Lisboa shuttle, not the Lisboa's, and the Grand Lisboa is right next to the Lisboa).

The hotel is a bit old, so the facilities feel a bit dated, but the cleaning lady was very enthusiastic, and the linens were clean. There's renovation work going on in the building, so it was noisy. The absolute best thing about this place is its location. It's perfect for anyone looking to do a deep dive into Macau's casinos. Wynn and StarWorld casinos are right across the street, and it's just a few minutes' walk to the old and new Grand Lisboa. After clearing customs at Gongbei Port, you can take the free shuttle bus from Wynn or StarWorld directly here. Stayed here couple of times before. Hotel is decent and clean. However they downgraded the breakfast quite a bit (at least for westerners). For example the only bread choice is cheap, not fresh baguette. Also there is no yoghurt or bacon whatsoever. The eggs are ok since those are freshly cooked for each order. Also they decided not to offer bottled water on the room anymore and instead you have to go with a can to the outside floor to refill

The location is a bit close to the East Asian Games Dome. A taxi from Macau Airport costs around 60 MOP. It's about a 13-15 minute walk from the Grand Lisboa Palace, but if you're not familiar with the area, be aware that there are slopes and you can't just cross the road anywhere. If you have a lot of luggage or small children, just take a taxi! Check-in was smooth. I was worried about the room card, so I didn't book through an agent. I really liked the highest room type! It has a 'hui' character layout with a three-part bathroom for privacy, and the sofa bed in the living room can be opened with bedding provided! They gave us a birthday cake upon check-in and plenty of bottled water. We also received skip-the-line tickets for the Wynn Palace gondola, a voucher for MaMi Egg Waffles, two 50 MOP Angel's Cafe vouchers, and a shopping mall discount booklet! You can get 20% off go-karting and souvenirs! Business was good, and they allowed a late checkout until 12 PM. Express checkout and free luggage storage were also available! Although there's no casino, there are shuttle buses to Wynn Palace, but airport buses are less frequent! Our room type included three breakfasts, but if yours doesn't, you can find a better deal on Dianping for group-buy breakfasts! The room was quiet and clean!
