How to Get from Macau Airport to Your Hotel
There are several different ways to get into Macau city (and your hotel) from the airport, including complimentary hotel shuttles, the public bus system, the LRT, taxis, and private airport transfers.

The Free Hotel Shuttle Bus from Macau Airport
Yes, it’s real! There’s a free hotel shuttle bus that goes between Macau Airport to several popular hotels in the city, such as The Venetian, The Londoner, and Galaxy Macau. You don’t have to be a guest at these hotels to take the shuttle either; just hop on at the airport and hop off when you like!
Catching the Public Bus from the Airport to Macau
To find the bus into the city, simply exit the terminal from the arrivals hall, and follow the signs for public transport. The standard cash bus fare is MOP6. Have the exact amount ready because buses do not give change. Macau Pass is another payment option. Use the transport authority’s route information to find a stop near your actual hotel.
Macau Light Rapid Transit
Another convenient option to get into the city is via Macau’s LRT. Once you’ve gotten your luggage, follow signs to Airport Station beside the terminal. The Taipa Line serves the Taipa and Cotai area and continues to Barra on the peninsula. Adult single-journey fares across the network are MOP6, MOP8, MOP10 or MOP12, depending on the trip.
Taipa Line service hours are:
- Monday–Thursday: 6:30 am–11:15 pm.
- Friday–Sunday and public holidays: 6:30 am–11:59 pm.
Getting a Taxi from Macau Airport
Like all airports, you’ll find the taxi queue directly outside the arrivals hall. the official taxi queue. The published starting fare is MOP21 for the first 1.6 km, with MOP2 for each additional 220 metres. Airport pick-ups add MOP8, and luggage in the boot costs MOP3 per item.
Keep some local cash available and show the driver the hotel address. For a group, splitting the fare can make this a sensible choice.

Should I Fly to Macau or Hong Kong from Australia?
The easy answer is that you’re visiting Macau, flying into Macau is usually the better option. But that's only if you can find a flight time that suits you; there are more frequent flights to Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) from major Australian capital cities, and it's also not that far away from Macau. Your best bet is to check prices and dates for both airports from Australia to see which one is cheaper and more convenient for you.
If you’re flying to Hong Kong, you’ll have to travel to Macau by coach or ferry (more details below). This adds a border transfer, but it can work well.

How to Get from Hong Kong Airport to Macau
Decided to fly into Hong Kong instead of Macau? You can either get to Macau directly from the airport without passing through Hong Kong immigration, or go into the city before making your way across the border.
SkyPier Transfer Coach
Your best bet is to catch the SkyPier bus, which lets you skip going through immigration in Hong Kong. To do so, follow these steps:
- Step 1: After landing, follow the signs inside the Hong Kong Airport terminal to Mainland/Macao and Transfer Area.
- Step 2: Purchase your bus tickets in Transfer Area E2.
- Step 3: Give the staff your baggage tag receipts so they can organise your luggage for you, making sure it will arrive at the SkyPier terminal.
- Step 4: You’ll then get on the Automated People Mover (APM) which will take you to the SkyPier terminal, where you can collect your bags and board your bus to Macau.
The bus from SkyPier terminal goes directly to HZMB Macau Port, where you will then pass through Macau’s immigration.
High-Speed Ferry from Hong Kong to Macau
Ferries run between Hong Kong–Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan and Macau, with the crossing taking around an hour. It’s a useful option if you’re spending time in Hong Kong before continuing your trip.
Choose your arrival terminal around where you’re staying. Outer Harbour puts you on the Macau Peninsula, while Taipa is more convenient for Cotai’s resorts and Macau Airport. TurboJET serves both terminals, and Cotai Water Jet runs between Sheung Wan and Taipa.
If you’re coming straight from Hong Kong Airport, you’ll first need to clear immigration, collect your bags and travel into Sheung Wan.

There was a limited-time discount, and I was able to book tickets for approximately 2,700 yen per person. A voucher with a QR code was issued through the Trip.com app, so I didn't need to exchange it for a physical ticket at the ferry terminal. I went to the boarding gate, had an attendant scan the QR code, and received a paper ticket.
Boarding was easy, and the TurboJET operated almost exactly on time, making for a comfortable journey. I was able to get a window seat by asking an attendant, allowing me to enjoy the sea views from Hong Kong to Macau.
The ferry seats don't recline, but they're at a comfortable angle, making for a pleasant ride. If the sea is calm, the rocking isn't too noticeable.

Walk for about 5 minutes from Exit C2 of Prince Edward Station and you will see a tour bus. Show the QR code and you can get on the bus and find your own seat. The tour buses are very new and nice. The Venetian goes up and down at the same place. Trip can have as many shifts as the official website would be better

There are three lounges available at Macau Airport: the Plaza Premium Lounge, the Plaza First Lounge, and the Air Macau Lounge.
Plaza Premium Lounge is the one to look at if you’re planning on entering a lounge; it’s located in the airside departures area, on the mezzanine above Gate 9/9A. Use the escalator opposite those gates to get up there; you can book your access through Trip.com.
Plaza Premium First is bit of a fancier experience, less crowded, but more expensive.

Where to Eat and Shop
If you’re hungry before check-in, head upstairs to the public mezzanine, where you’ll find McDonald’s, Macau Daily and Starbucks. McDonald’s opens at 6 am, making it an option for breakfast before an early flight.
There’s more choice after security. China Garden, Good Fortune Kitchen and Pepper Lunch Express are on the mezzanine, along with Zhen Dim Sum Kitchen on the southern side. For a coffee before boarding, there’s Blooom Coffee in the northern departures area and another Starbucks after security. Pepper Lunch Express stays open until 11:30 pm, while San Mou I lists service through to the last departure.
Forgot to pick up a gift? Koi Kei Bakery has an outlet on the northern mezzanine after security, so there’s another chance to buy something from one of Macau’s best-known souvenir bakeries. You’ll also find DUTY ZERO by cdf on the way towards Gates 1–9 for a browse before boarding.
Wi-Fi and Mobile Data
There’s free Wi-Fi at Macau Airport, so you can get online without switching on your Australian roaming. Once you leave the terminal, an eSIM is handy for finding your hotel and checking transport routes. Choose a plan that explicitly includes Macau; if your trip also takes you through Hong Kong, a package covering both saves you setting up a second connection.
Luggage Storage
Have a few hours to explore before your flight? You can leave your suitcase at the airport’s 24-hour luggage-storage counter, on the departures level before security.
Storage costs MOP10 per bag per hour, capped at MOP80 for 24 hours. That makes a four-hour outing MOP40 per bag, while anything from eight to 24 hours costs MOP80. Part-hours are rounded up, so four hours and ten minutes counts as five hours.
Keep your collection receipt—you’ll need it to get your bags back. If you’re spending your final day near your hotel, asking reception to hold your luggage may save you a trip to the airport.

We booked this hotel for a staycation. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and pool. The room is also instagrammable. However, there was a strong smell inside when we arrived. The bathroom door is also hard to close and the toilet bowl is a bit broken. The water keeps on flowing when the flush button doesn’t bounce up. It will also be better if they have complete amenities, like shower cap, lotion and cotton buds that we can use. The shampoo and conditioner are also bad. Folks, let me tell you, for being in the city center, this is a pretty charming, decent, almost retro hotel. The staff are very pleasant and always smiling. There are tons of shops and restaurants around. Exchange offices are just 2 minutes away. If you see a more or less reasonable price around 500, it's better to book the hotel in advance if you need it for several days or a week, as the price changes daily from 500 to 900 closer to the weekends. Reading reviews of other hotels in the area that are cheaper, there have been cases of personal belongings and money being stolen from rooms. In any case, always be careful. It's better to overpay a hundred or two dollars for a few days than to lose half your cash and deal with the police. I'm sure it's safe here. Miss Yuki at the front desk was absolutely wonderful – beautiful, sweet-voiced, and incredibly patient and thorough in explaining directions. She even anticipated our daily needs. The room she arranged had a great view, and she gave us some delicious complimentary cookies. The room itself was very spacious and the bedding was super comfortable. The only downside was a bit of noise from construction on the upper floors during our stay, but that's understandable. Macau is really great value for money right now; the room rate on the day of check-in was 200-300 cheaper than booking in advance, but there's not much you can do about that. This was my fourth visit to Macau, and I finally managed to book the Galaxy Hotel, which my mom had been longing for. It was truly excellent, the only hotel I've ever stayed at that allowed early check-in and extended our check-out time to 3 PM. Rachel, who checked us in, was particularly kind and professional. I really appreciate this kind of service. I learned that regular rooms are usually reserved for casino guests, and not always available to the public. The room size was just right, and all the drinks at the minibar were complimentary. The only minor downside is that the hotel is a bit older, so the power outlets and switches are a bit dated. Hotel guests get free access to the water park; I only had a quick splash this time as we didn't have much time, but I'll definitely go again next time. My mom said she wants to stay at another Galaxy-affiliated hotel next time. The connecting room was very spacious, and we stayed for five nights. Our original room was on the second floor, but we paid extra to upgrade to the eighth floor. The sea view from the room was excellent. The hotel's breakfast and service were also great, and there's a daily shuttle to Grand Lisboa Palace. The only regret is that starting from the third night, I developed an itchy rash all over my body. My child also had it slightly, but he recovered within two days. Even after returning to Beijing from Macau, the rash continued, especially on my legs, to the point where I couldn't sleep at night due to the itching. I went to the hospital and was diagnosed with insect bites, which can appear within 1-10 days, and it still hasn't cleared up. Hotels in Macau are so much better than those in Hong Kong, honestly. For a similar or even lower price, you get a much bigger room. I've stayed at the Londoner in Taipa before, but if you're looking to explore the old streets rather than just shopping malls and casinos, staying on the Macau Peninsula, in the old town, is much more convenient. This time, I chose the New Orient Landmark; it wasn't expensive, and the room was quite spacious. While it's not brand new, it's well-maintained. The room even came with a dehumidifier. It's a short walk to Wynn Macau, Lisboa, and Grand Lisboa. Strolling to the Ruins of St. Paul's and Rua de Cinco de Outubro is also easy. There are also buses nearby to Coloane and other areas. Really, the entire old town isn't that big; it feels like everything is within a three-kilometer radius. If you enjoy walking, you can get everywhere on foot. Although the decor reflects that of an older five-star hotel, it's incredibly well-maintained; all the facilities are perfectly functional and nothing looks worn out. The room doors are quite solid, showing that a significant investment was made during the original renovation. I was very satisfied with my stay this time, with the only issue being the lack of markings for the hot and cold water in the bathroom. My relatives and friends didn't know which taps were for hot and cold water. It was especially difficult for the elderly to adjust the water temperature for showering, so they ended up showering with cold water. This is an established four-star hotel. We arrived quite late, but the front desk staff was very welcoming, and the check-in process was smooth. The room was very clean, and our request for a high-floor room was fully met. Downstairs, there are many delicious eateries and a 24-hour supermarket. It's also very close to popular attractions like the Ruins of St. Paul's and Wynn. The coffee in the hotel lobby was excellent, and the egg tarts were freshly baked. My wife and I stayed at Wynn Macau again from June 7-9, 2026. We returned because of our satisfying first experience.
The front desk staff were attentive and polite, and they upgraded our room. The room was luxurious, spacious, and spotless, looking as good as new and well-maintained.
At 'Wing Lei' restaurant, both breakfast and dinner offered exquisite food with a wide variety of choices at reasonable prices. Enjoying a coffee or beer at 'Wing Lei Bar' during leisure time was a delightful pleasure.
I must especially mention that after checking out, I realized I had left my phone in the safe. Fortunately, the hotel team safely kept it, and with Ms. Mak Tsz Kuen (Manager)'s prompt contact and thoughtful arrangements, I was able to retrieve my phone. Many thanks!

This hotel was truly amazing! Out of all the places I stayed during my five-day, four-night trip to Hong Kong and Macau – besides the Disneyland hotel, which I always love – this was by far the most attentive service I experienced in Macau. I checked in at 3 PM and just rested for a couple of hours. I didn't even head out for food until close to sunset. When I returned around 10 PM, I noticed that the covers I'd messed up had been neatly tidied, the toilet and sink were re-cleaned, and two new pairs of slippers were placed. It was clear a staff member had come in to service the room, and this was only a few hours after I'd first checked in, and I was just staying for one night in one room. St. Regis Staff: Security is polite, front desk is polite, essentially all staff are professional and courteous.
Facilities: The bar on the 2nd floor is very popular, offering a single light drink set for around $2xx, which includes a glass of champagne, an oyster, a small bowl of spicy peanuts, and a small bowl of olives. The gym is excellent, with beautiful night views, new and diverse equipment, disinfectant wipes, a water dispenser, chilled Pocari Sweat, cold towels, and regular towels. The changing rooms have a jacuzzi and sauna, all free of charge. The pool provides swimming noodles and kickboards, has warm and cold water, and also offers towels, all free.
What truly surprised me was the butler service. My teddy bear was initially just lying on the bed. After returning to the room from dinner, I found that Butler Kevin had dressed my bear in a bathrobe and eye mask, and even covered it with its own blanket. I was so touched I almost cried. Many thanks to Butler Kevin for providing such wonderful surprises and immense emotional value!!!

I visit Macau 2-3 times a year, so a price hike during the summer weekend was expected. This time, I chose The Londoner Macao for our family of three, specifically for the 1.4m twin beds, which allowed us to sleep comfortably without feeling cramped. The room's cleanliness and overall environment were good, and the window overlooked the stadium. The front desk staff were all warm and welcoming, contradicting some reviews about poor service. The room was well-equipped with amenities sufficient for daily use, and there was even a self-service vending machine on our floor, which was quite convenient!
The best part is that despite The Londoner Macao's slightly off-the-beaten-path location, there's a shopping mall right downstairs, catering to all our daily needs for food, clothing, and entertainment. There's also a 24-hour cha chaan teng (Hong Kong-style diner), and registering as a Londoner Macao member gives you an 15% discount. The hotel also provided two discount coupons for Wynn Palace, with free shuttle bus service to Wynn Palace and Grand Lisboa Palace. The coupons included a priority ride on the cable car once, which was perfect for watching the musical fountain show in the evening. There was also a shopping and dining discount card for the mall, which really made up for the location. Previously, staying in the Parisian area meant large shopping centers, but during peak season, it could get uncomfortably crowded. The Londoner Macao, however, is quieter and less crowded, making for a more comfortable and leisurely trip. The hotel is a 7-8 minute walk from the East Asian Games Dome Light Rail Station, and getting to Cunha Street (Taipa Pier Station) is also more affordable than taking a taxi. Personally, I think it's a very cost-effective choice for a family of three or four. Next time, I want to try the L'Occitane room and the LINE FRIENDS themed room, as I believe the weekday prices will be even more attractive.
In short: Of course, more expensive hotels will offer a different experience – you get what you pay for. But for our family's habit and experience of visiting Macau for a few days every year, The Londoner Macao is a good value-for-money option.
