Collins House Apartments by CLLIX ★★★★
"What I love most is the location. It’s so convenient with various ways to get around - trams, buses, metro. It sits in the quieter side of Melbourne City so it’s really nice to go back “home” as we very much would prefer a quieter home than a noisy one. It’s just 5minutes awag from all the malls and noise. Front desk was helpful, though they are not there 24/7. Managed to store our luggage at the front desk upon check out. Great service staff :) Located on 40th floor and the view was amazing! As usual, the CLLIX provided really nice smelling shampoo bath soap and conditioner. Absolutely great stay and to end off our Australia trip."

Holiday Inn Melbourne Bourke Street Mall by IHG ★★★★
"The room was clean and tidy, and the breakfast was good. The hotel entrance is located on Melbourne Walk, which isn't very obvious but easy to find with navigation. The location is convenient for getting around. Turning left out of the hotel brings you to Bourke Street, a very lively area. Nearby, you can catch the free trams No. 86 and No. 96. It's only three stops to Southern Cross Station, where you can take the SkyBus to the airport for about 25 AUD, which is very convenient. Chinatown, the State Library Victoria, and the University of Melbourne are all nearby. Turning right out of the hotel brings you to Little Collins Street, and within a few minutes' walk, you'll reach Federation Square, Flinders Street Railway Station, Graffiti Street, St. Paul's Cathedral, and the Yarra River. The area is bustling with many dining options and supermarkets like Metro and Coles."

Final Melbourne Hotels Booking Tips

  • Melbourne’s hotel prices surge—and rooms sell out—during the Australian Open (January), F1 Grand Prix (March), and AFL Finals (September), so reserve ahead to avoid 200% rate hikes or last-minute scrambles near the MCG.
  • Unlike Tokyo’s midnight transport cutoff, Melbourne’s trams run until 1 AM on weekends; stay near Flinders Street Station, Southbank, or within the Free Tram Zone to explore bars and galleries without expensive taxi returns.
  • Skip pricey CBD towers—base yourself in Docklands for apartment-style rooms and free trams to Southern Cross Station (SkyBus to airport), or choose South Yarra for garden strolls and a 9-minute train to Flinders Street’s laneways.
