ONE FUKUOKA HOTEL

9.3/10
Great

Excellent location right in the Tenjin shopping district, making it convenient to get anywhere. The subway station is directly accessible from B2. The lobby is on the 19th floor. The room was quite spacious with comfortable bedding, and the shower had great water pressure. The unagi donburi at breakfast was delicious.

Wonderful location! A straight walk from Hakata Station (or you can take one stop on the subway). The hotel is right outside the subway station. Very short walk to Canal City too. A 24h pharmacy nearby with an AEON mart at the basement. There's good food around too. Really great location but if you stay the STAY ROOM type, please note that you will be facing a huge cemetery 🥲. It's mostly hidden by trees but you absolutely can see it. The hotel is right infront of the cemetery. Other room types won't get that view thankfully. There's a free to use public bath, free ice pops, and free to use microwave. Washing machine outside is paid per use. You can see the status from your room. STAY ROOM washing is free with detergent provided 👍 Service was great initially. Check in team aided with my requests. However, checkout team was not the best. I arrived at the counter, confused and in a rush but the team in the morning all stood behind the counter, leaning their backs to the wall. I utter a word of question and nobody came forward to help. I tried to figure it out myself, by slotting in the card, then finally someone came forward, no talk no acknowledgement, tapped some stuff - all in japanese - and then nothing. I was confused, then one of the English speaking stuff said ”all done”... I was very unimpressed with this service. Especially with the sight of all of them leaning against the wall when I obviously needed help. Really a downer to a good stay.

I only stayed for one night but was so impressed by how spacious the room felt despite having 1 King and 1 single sofa bed which was helpful for my luggage packing and elderly parents. There was a ultra fast charging (100W) port and I thought that was very helpful. The location is also the best, nothing can beat, cross the road from Hakata station and it's there. Wish I could have booked this hotel across other parts of Japan.

Extremely satisfied! The location is super convenient for getting around, everything is within walking distance. Coming back from a concert, I could even enjoy the massage chair, and they provide face masks and foot patches to relieve fatigue – truly a divine hotel! They even have wine for breakfast, which is amazing!

WELLCABIN TENJIN

9.1/10
Great

Worst hotel experience in a month of traveling Japan — avoid if you have other options I've been traveling across Japan for a full month — Osaka, Tokyo, Hiroshima and more — and Wellcabin Tenjin is hands down the worst service I've received anywhere. Made a simple booking mistake and reached out to correct it within 10 minutes — not the last day, not last minute, literally within 10 minutes of booking. I wasn't asking for a refund or a cancellation — I simply wanted to change the date and upgrade to a more private room, both of which would have benefited them financially. Still a flat out no. I petitioned multiple times, even with the support of the hotel booking agent advocating on my behalf, and they remained completely unmoved. No empathy, no flexibility, no solutions. Just a stubborn, repeated refusal — for the most basic and reasonable requests imaginable. The app also showed ”Failed to cancel booking” and ”Failed to modify dates” so there was no way to self-serve either. Completely trapped. On top of that: 11am checkout means you are gone — permanently. You cannot come back inside, cannot use any facilities, cannot sit for a break, cannot do anything. You are physically out the door at 11am with no return. Most hotels worldwide let you hang around the lobby or common areas — not here. Just thrown out onto the street. No luggage storage after checkout — in all my years of traveling worldwide, this is the first place I've ever stayed that refuses to hold your bags. Not once have I encountered this anywhere else. You're left dragging everything around all day with zero support. The place simply doesn't feel welcoming — from the moment something goes wrong, you're completely on your own Nickel-and-dime culture — they charge a fee for everything, including slippers. Every other hostel I stayed at across Japan provided them free, daily. Not here. Locker room has no camera — you cannot leave anything safely here Laundry is overpriced — the most expensive I encountered across every city I stayed in Japan For a capsule hotel marketing itself on convenience, it fails on almost every front. Every basic comfort comes with a price tag, and the moment you need any flexibility or human decency, they shut the door on you — literally and figuratively — even when you act immediately, in good faith, and are willing to spend more. The only thing going for it is the central Tenjin location — but that's the neighborhood, not the hotel. I travel around the world constantly and this is genuinely the first time I've encountered a hotel this rigid, unwelcoming, and unhelpful. Only consider this place if you have absolutely no other options. Otherwise, keep looking.

Oriental Hotel Fukuoka Hakata Station

Chose this one for its location. But I have to say it is the worst 4-star hotel I’ve had in Fukuoka. It is clean and the staff were friendly — Japanese standard. But they organize the front desk poorly: always a long queue at check in. Under staffed and low efficiency. They installed self check-in machines but everyone using that ended up requesting staff attention. Thus, they are useless. Breakfast is poor in Japanese standard, both quality and taste. And they charge insane price for very small kids. Bed is terrible. Can you imagine for a 4-star hotel, the bed is made of cheap steel frame. Mine is even shaking when lying on it! Overall not recommended. There are much better choices around Hakata station.

Fukuoka on a weekend is notoriously expensive, and with my last-minute booking, options were limited. I was a bit worried seeing the lower review scores, but my stay was perfectly fine. It's incredibly convenient: just turn left out of the Chikushi Exit and it's a 1-2 minute walk. If you're taking the Shinkansen, the Chikushi Exit is where you need to be. Plus, the bus to the airport from the old Hakata Bus Terminal has also moved to the bus stop at the Chikushi Exit, making travel incredibly easy.

Spacious and comfortable room with a lovely city view. The room was clean, cosy, and well maintained, with plenty of space to relax after a long day out. Location was very convenient, close to shopping, food options, and transport. Service staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout our stay. Overall, it was a pleasant and enjoyable experience, and we would happily stay here again 🌟

The location is super convenient! It's just a short walk to Parco, Tenjin Underground Shopping Center, Iwataya Department Store, and Daimaru Department Store. Plus, there are tons of yatai (food stalls) right across the street to choose from. Very satisfied! 👍🏻

The room is quite small, and it’s a bit difficult for two people to open their suitcases at the same time — we had to take turns. Other than that, everything was very good. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. I had seen reviews mentioning ikura, but it wasn’t available during my stay, which was a little disappointing. Still, I was overall very impressed.
