"This is the worst hostel I've ever stayed in. It's run by Chinese people from Guangdong. First, the building itself is clearly low-cost; the floorboards creak with every step, and the door locks seem broken! Secondly, the room layout is terrible. There were no curtains, no power outlets, no lamps, and the whole room was smoky and stuffy! Furthermore, when I arrived late, the lights were completely off! The owner actually made me use my phone flashlight! Luckily, I only booked two nights, or I would have gone crazy. Most importantly, it's hard to find; the location is inaccurate! Homeless people live downstairs! Not recommended."

"Cleaning staff kept taking our drinks. We asked for a mini fridge but there was a price tag we were not willing to pay. Front desk was helpful and often help resolve issues. Restaurant management was also helpful and accommodating durning misunderstanding of expectations. Bathroom is tiny but understandable as this is an old hotel. Overall stay was great, we are frequent guests at this hotel. Would recommend stay to others but be strategic on dates as price will fluctuate depending on events happening around the city. Local is ideal for downtown events and close to transit, do recommend not using a vehicle as many venues are within walking distance. Facilities are also key, with spool and fitness centre being top quality. Hope you enjoy your stay."

"The Union Hotel was perfect for us. It was clean and had all the amenities we needed. Location was best for being one block from Union Station and walking distance to CN Tower and Ripleys aquarium. It’s aLao about a 20 minute walk to Eaton Center and Chinatown. Breakfast wasn’t included in our stay, but they did have a small menu at the Humble Donkey restaurant in the hotel. It’s a combination food and bar. We did have breakfast there and the food was excellent."
