How to Activate and Use eSIM for New Zealand
Activating a New Zealand eSIM takes about five minutes. It’s best to install and activate it before you fly, and can be done from home.
Check If Your Phone Supports eSIM
If your phone is relatively new, released in the last five or six years, you’re good to go. All the major brands like iPhones, Samsung Galaxy phones, and Google Pixels are compatible with eSIMs.
Not sure if your phone? Dial *#06# and look if you have an EID number; if it's there, your phone supports eSIM.
Steps to Install Your New Zealand eSIM
Once you've bought your eSIM on Trip.com, you'll get an email with your QR code. From here, installation is simple.
Installation steps for iPhone:
- Make sure you’re connected to your home WiFi network
- Open Settings, then select Mobile
- Tap "Add eSIM"
- Open the email you received from Trip.com
- Scan the QR code through Settings (not your camera app)
- Follow the prompts on your screen to complete setup
- Label it something easy to find, such as "NZ"
Installation steps for Android users:
- Connect to your home WiFi network
- Go to Settings, then SIM Card Management (or Connections > SIM Manager if you’re using a Samsung)

- Don't remove the eSIM once installed, because you can only use the QR code once.

A very cost-effective living option. We brought two babies and booked a 90-square-meter two-bedroom, one-living room apartment. The floor-to-ceiling windows are basically full of sea views, and the balcony is also full of sea views. It is very convenient to walk to the beach. It is suitable for families with children, friends gatherings, client receptions, etc. They are all independent houses with good privacy. The most important thing is that the price of 340 New Zealand dollars also includes breakfast for our family of four. The breakfast is also good and worth experiencing. We arrived at around 10:30am and requested an early check in, as we had a 5:00am flight the following morning. We fully understood that the standard 1500pm check in time applied and that any early check-in was subject to room availability. We therefore appreciated the hotel accommodating us with a room at 1230pm. Unfortunately, the room was not ready to the standard we expected. We found an empty bottle on the floor, and the glass door/window could not be locked properly. Although, we requested a room change, we were informed that none were available at the time and maintenance advised that the lock would require drilling and screwing to repair. What disappointed us most was not the need for the repair itself, but how the situation was handled. The communication from the maintenance staff came across as abrupt when we were asked whether we wanted the repair carried out or not. We also felt greater consideration could have been given to guests, as drilling may not be suitable for those with allergies, asthma or sensitivities to dust or noise. Holiday inn has always been a brand I associate with consistent international standards, particularly from my experiences in South-East Asia. While we appreciated the hotel's flexibility in offering an early check-in, we do not believe this should come at the expense of basic expectations such as cleanliness, security, and a room that is ready for occupancy. Hopefully, this was an isolated incident rather than a reflection of the hotel's usual standards. Many guests arrive after long journeys simply looking forward to a clean, secure and comfortable place to rest. A little more thoughtfulness in both room readiness and communication would make a meaningful difference to the overall guest experience.FromAED 269

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. The concierge desk was super helpful, you can basically ask them anything. Needed an umbrella, directions to the nearest post office, and even tape, and the staff were always quick to help (they even delivered items to our room). Service was excellent and very attentive.
Location is great too, close to the city center, so getting around was easy. There’s also a casino upstairs.
Only small downside was that we got confused with another SkyCity property and accidentally went to the wrong one at first. Parking was also a bit tricky to find.FromAED 352

Kereru Cottage at Moana Cove, Kawau Island is a fully self-contained cottage. It has a separate bedroom with twin beds, and a double bed in the open plan lounge, dining, kitchen area. The lounge opens onto a deck with amazing views of Moana Cove and North Cove. Our jetty is very tidal so you need to arrive and depart within 2 hours of high tide times. You are surrounded at the back by native bush, and there are always native birds flying and wandering around in our space. The eagle rays basking in our tidal cove are spectacular as well. This is a spectacular spot to base yourself for a fishing or diving trip as you can use our jetty to tie up your own boat while you are here. This is an older hotel, and while the facilities are a bit dated, the environment is very pleasant. Our window directly overlooked Albert Park, and what's great is that the window could be opened slightly, which made for excellent ventilation. The hotel breakfast was also good. Unfortunately, because I wasn't sure if the stay would be comfortable, I only booked 2 nights initially. This is a great hotel for Chinese travelers, I stayed for a month! There was daily housekeeping, and as soon as I hung up the phone, the attendant arrived – that's China speed! Mineral water was provided daily, which saved me a lot of money. The room had a washing machine, a large refrigerator, a coffee machine, a toaster, a microwave… everything you could need. I really didn't want to leave! Right next door is a Chinese supermarket with good quality and low prices. It's about a 15-minute walk to a mall and another supermarket, and a bit further there are many Chinese restaurants. Staying here is incredibly convenient! Just a few minutes' drive away is a bay; there are so many bays on the North Shore, all so close to each other. Oh, and right across from the hotel is a popular internet-famous cafe – if you go late, you'll have to queue.
