Shanghai Baoan Hotel

Shanghai Baoan Hotel

📍 No. 800 Dongfang Road, Pudong New Area, Shanghai
★★★★ 9.1 (6,983 reviews)

"The overall decor is quite old, and the carpets have stains, although it's clear they've tried their best to clean them. The age of the hotel is visibly apparent. The hairdryer's power is very weak, so much so that it can't even dry short hair. When I called the front desk, they said there were no other hairdryers available, so I wouldn't recommend washing your hair at the hotel. Other facilities are comparable to the hairdryer's condition. I suggest the hotel consider a small-scale upgrade of some basic infrastructure."

J Hotel Shanghai Tower

"The room was great, and the view was fantastic, but the service professionalism was very subpar. From the moment we entered the lobby, no staff member proactively came to open the car door or help with our luggage. Once inside the lobby, no one approached us. Their attitude seemed quite sluggish, which led to my friend and I wandering around the lobby for about five or six minutes before someone finally came to ask if we were checking in. Then, during check-in, the front desk didn't inform us that our room included afternoon tea at the executive lounge, causing us to miss it that day. They did make it up to us the following afternoon, but it still messed up our original plans. All other services were fine, and they even offer in-room delivery for takeout. The hotel's cultural introduction was also interesting. Overall, a good review."

The hotel boasts a serene and rustic cabin-in-the-woods style, with a calming courtyard featuring flowing water and lush greenery in the lobby. The scenic views from the public lounge windows are beautiful, creating a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle. It's incredibly relaxing to just be there. The entire property is meticulously cleaned; hallways and common areas are dust-free, and every corner of the guest rooms and bathrooms are spotless. The bedding is fresh and odorless. The facilities are well-maintained, with clear floor directions, comfortable lounge chairs, and functional lighting all in excellent condition. The design is exquisite and aesthetically pleasing, perfect for photos. The front desk staff were warm and attentive, proactively helping with luggage and making the check-in process efficient. Any request made to the front desk was handled promptly, and they were very patient with everyone. Overall, it offers great value for money and I highly recommend it for your travels and accommodation!"

"Pros: The hotel is right next to the terminal, which is super convenient for early morning flights. Cons: Not great value for money. The facilities are old and a bit rundown, and the service was just okay. I didn't get to try breakfast due to time constraints, so I can't comment on that. The room was quite small, and the decor is dated."

"The staff told me my room had been upgraded, but upon checking in, I found that my king room had been 'upgraded' to a twin room. Although they eventually switched me back to a king room, it turned out to be two twin beds pushed together. There was a 20cm gap on both sides of the bed from the nightstands. And they called this an upgrade! The entire process of handling and communicating with me, a solo traveler, was completely dismissive. I definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel and won't be staying here again!"

"I actually wanted to stay in a different hotel (the one I stayed before), but it was fully booked so I chose this one and I had a very pleasant stay, even though it was just for one night. I got a better room than I originally booked. I'm a fan of loft flats, so it was a surprise for me lol It's quite small, but very cosy. The room was very clean, had everything needed for a stay. The staff doesn't speak English, even though it's almost a city centre of Shanghai, so prepare a translator. But still was helpful. I surely will stay here again and would recommend this place. The location is great as well."
