Suzhou, acclaimed by UNESCO as the "City of a Hundred Gardens," is a 2,500-year-old cultural hub famous for its exquisite classical gardens and poetic water towns. This guide will introduce the top attractions, including tickets, opening hours, and travel tips for your Suzhou trip!
Fun Facts About Suzhou

- The "Oriental Venice": While many cities claim this title, Suzhou has the receipts. With over 42% of the city covered by water and a history of being built around a network of canals, it actually served as the inspiration for many of the water-management systems seen in later European cities.
- Silk for Emperors: Suzhou has been the "Silk Capital" of China for centuries. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the city’s weavers were the exclusive suppliers for the imperial robes worn by China’s Emperors.
- The Softest Language in China: The local dialect, Suzhou Hua, is famous across China for being incredibly "soft" and "melt-in-your-mouth" (Wu Nong Ruan Yu).

Sitting by the stone railing of the centuries-old bridge, the bluestone slabs polished smooth by time, a breeze blows across the river, carrying the cool, moist scent of raindrops, rustling your clothes softly, like the ancient bridge whispering tales of a thousand years of rain. Your fingertips trace the deep ruts on the bridge, feeling the weight of countless memories left by those who have crossed it over the millennia. Looking up, you watch the rain slowly fall from the clouds, weaving a hazy curtain over the river. In the distance, people with umbrellas stroll along the ancient bridge, the patterns on their oil-paper umbrellas shimmering in the rain. A few swallows skim the river's surface, their wings dusted with raindrops. You need not... Instead of rushing to the popular ancient bridge for a photo shoot in the misty rain, sit by the stone railing and listen to the rain. Let the raindrops, carried by the wind, brush against your cheeks. Listen to the gentle sound of the wind rustling through the raindrops, mingling with the tinkling of raindrops falling on the river. Melt all your restlessness into the hazy rain. You may have seen crowded scenes at popular ancient bridges in the city, but you always felt that the noise lacked the tranquility of listening to the rain on an ancient bridge. It wasn't until the raindrops landed on the back of your hand that you understood that the most poetic whispers of the wind were always hidden in the rain on an ancient bridge. From now on, when you have a headache from the noise of the city, just think of the rain on an ancient bridge, and you can sink into a poetic peace.

This was my second dedicated visit to the Suzhou Museum, April 1, 2026 (my first visit was October 23, 2025). I was still delighted. Different sunlight created different light and shadow effects – a testament to the magician of light, Mr. I.M. Pei. Coincidentally, while queuing for the green channel, I met Mr. Yi, also from Taiwan. We struck up a conversation, and I was even allowed to temporarily act as his amateur guide. I paid more attention to the points highlighted by the master guide on my previous visit, focusing on sightseeing and taking photos. As a result, the entire experience was different from my last visit, and I was still delighted.

Walking towards the rolling terraced fields, the endless terraces spread out on the mountainside like layers of green ribbons. The wind blows along the contours of the terraces, carrying the sweet fragrance of rice blossoms, rustling the rice ears with a soft, gentle sound, as if the entire terraced field is singing a low chorus to the rhythm of the wind. Your fingertips brush against the wild grass along the edge of the field, feeling the profound warmth left by generations of mountain people cultivating the terraces. Looking up, you see clouds drifting slowly above the mountain peaks, casting their shadows on the water's surface, creating flowing cloud patterns. In the distance, mountain people carry hoes home, their mountain songs carried far on the wind. A few dragonflies skim the surface of the terraced fields, their wings brushing across the water, leaving delicate ripples. You don't need to be obsessed with rushing to the viewing platform of the famous rice terraces to take stunning sunrise photos. Just stroll slowly along the ridges of the terraces, letting the fragrance of rice brush against your cheeks in the wind, listening to the gentle rustling of the wind through the rice stalks mixed with the tunes of mountain songs, and melting all your anxieties into the profoundness of the rice terraces. You may have seen countless exquisite photos of rice terraces in city photography exhibitions, but you always felt that the images on the screen lacked the freshness of the scene. It wasn't until the fragrance of rice filled your lungs that you understood that the most profound whispers of the wind were always hidden in the continuous mountain rice terraces. In the future, when you are anxious due to the fast pace of city life, just think of the cloud shadows of the rice terraces, and you can find the most simple sense of peace again.

Tiger Hill Scenic Area is one of the most memorable places I visited in Suzhou. The combination of beautiful gardens, ancient history, and peaceful walking paths makes it a perfect escape from the busy city. The highlight was the iconic Leaning Tiger Hill Pagoda, which is even more impressive in person and offers great photo opportunities. I also enjoyed exploring the Sword Pool and learning about the legends connected to the hill. Every corner of the park feels well preserved and full of cultural charm. Whether you enjoy history, architecture, or simply relaxing in nature, Tiger Hill Scenic Area is definitely a worthwhile destination when visiting Suzhou.

Walking through ankle-deep snow into the depths of the northeastern forest, rows of pine trees were laden with fluffy snowflakes. The wind, blowing through the gaps in the trees, carried the crisp scent of snow, brushing past my ears and rustling the snowflakes off the branches, as if the entire forest was shaking off its white down. You don't need to be fixated on finding well-developed snow hiking routes; just follow the wild paths trodden by footprints. Your fingertips can touch the pine branches, smelling the fresh scent of pine resin hidden beneath the snow. Looking up, the clear blue sky pressed down on the treetops, and large, fluffy clouds, like freshly fluffed cotton candy, drifted slowly overhead. In the distance, pale blue smoke rose from a small wooden house, and a string of squirrel footprints remained on the snow in front of the door. Several sparrows emerged from their tree holes, shaking off the snow and hopping onto the snow in search of food. You may have tried skiing on artificial snow in a city ski resort, but you always felt that the fine, artificial snow lacked the fluffy texture of natural snowfall. It wasn't until the moment a snowflake landed on your neck and made you shrink back that you realized the purest winter romance was always hidden in the deserted snowfields and forests. In the future, when you are enveloped by the warm winter in the city and can't find the feeling of winter, just thinking about the crisp touch of snow on your face will make you feel like you've stepped into a pure white fairy tale world.

I suggest watching the whole thing with your eyes, instead of constantly looking at your phone to record it (the performance is excellent and the sound effects are great, but most of the performance content doesn't need to be saved on your phone). Keep moving around the stage to ensure that those in the front row aren't always stuck in the front; this is to ensure everyone is accounted for.

It's definitely worth watching, and the price is great value for money. I suggest focusing on watching it with your eyes and not constantly looking at your phone to record or take pictures (although the content is excellent, you won't want to keep it on your phone).

The full-price ticket for Tongli Ancient Town costs 100 yuan and includes one free ticket to watch the performance. If you purchase a half-price ticket (60-65 yuan) for 50 yuan, you will not receive the free ticket and will need to purchase an additional ticket for 60 yuan. Therefore, if you want to watch the performance, you should consider how to purchase tickets in a way that is cost-effective.

Sitting by the drying grounds of a seaside fishing village, rows of old fishing nets hang on wooden frames. The wind blows in the direction of the sea breeze, carrying the salty aroma of dried fish. The mesh of the nets rustles softly, as if the entire drying ground is whispering stories of the sea in rhythm with the wind. Your fingertips trace the deep knots on the nets, feeling the heavy memories left by the fishermen's countless voyages. Looking up, you see clouds slowly rolling across the sea, casting their shadows on the distant water, shimmering like flowing cloud shadows. In the distance, fishermen mend their torn nets, their dark faces bearing honest smiles. A few seabirds fly around the drying grounds, their wings dusted with fine sea salt. You don't need to be attached to anything else. Before heading to the popular fishing village for some artsy photos, I sat on the wooden frame of the net-drying area, swaying gently. I let the sea breeze, carrying the aroma of dried fish, embrace me, listening to the soft rustling of the wind through the nets mingling with the laughter of the fishermen. All my restlessness melted into the rustic charm of the fishing village. You may have strolled through the commercial streets of popular fishing villages in the city, filled with chain stores, and always felt that the deliberately created scenes lacked the original charm of fishing villages. But when the sea breeze, carrying the aroma of fish, embraced you, you realized that the most vibrant whispers of the wind were always hidden in the net-drying area of the fishing village. In the future, when you are tired from the commercial atmosphere of the city, just thinking of the net-drying area of the fishing village will allow you to sink into the simple and rustic atmosphere full of life.

Sitting atop the rolling sand dunes, the warm yellow sand shimmers softly in the moonlight. The wind blows along the desert's contours, carrying grains of sand that gently rustle your clothes, like the desert whispering tales of millennia of wind and sand. Your fingertips trace the ripples carved by the wind on the dunes, feeling the weight of countless sandstorms. Looking up, you see stars slowly emerging from the clouds, their light scattering across the desert like flowing silver. In the distance, camel caravans move slowly along the dunes, their bells carried far by the wind. A few desert foxes run along the dunes, their tails brushing the sand, casting dappled shadows. You need not dwell on the past. To capture stunning photos of the starry sky at a popular spot in the desert, sit atop a dune and wait for the stars to fill the sky. Let the wind and sand brush against your cheeks, listen to the gentle rustling of the wind across the dunes mingling with the distant sound of camel bells, and let all your anxieties melt into the vastness of the desert. You may have seen blurry starry skies in the light pollution of the city, always feeling that the dim night sky lacked the awe-inspiring sight of a sky full of stars. But when the starlight falls on your shoulders, you realize that the most distant whispers of the wind are always hidden in the starry sea of the desert. In the future, when you are trapped by the narrow confines of life, just thinking of the desert starry sky will give you a broad mind that can hold millions of stars.
How to Get to Suzhou?

Things to do in Suzhou | By High-Speed Rail
Suzhou is a primary stop on the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway. High-speed trains (G and D series) are the most efficient way to arrive.
- From Shanghai (Hongqiao or Shanghai Station): Takes 25–35 minutes. Trains run roughly every 10–15 minutes.
- From Nanjing: Takes about 1 hour to 1.5 hours.
- From Beijing: Takes about 4.5 to 5.5 hours.
- From Hangzhou: Takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.
Pro-Tip for 2026: Ensure you check which station you arrive at. Suzhou Station is closest to the Old Town (Route 1), while Suzhou North (Suzhou Bei) is in the newer district, closer to the high-tech areas.
Things to do in Suzhou | By Air
Since Suzhou lacks a passenger airport, you will likely land at one of these three:
- Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA): The airport is integrated with the Hongqiao Railway Station. You can walk from the terminal to the train platform in about 15 minutes and be in Suzhou 30 minutes later.
- Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG):
- Shuttle Bus: Direct buses run to Suzhou (approx. 2.5–3 hours).
- Metro/Maglev + Train: Take the Maglev to Longyang Road, Metro Line 2 to Hongqiao, then the high-speed train.
- Sunan Shuofang International Airport (WUX):
- Located in Wuxi, it is actually closer to western Suzhou. A taxi or private car takes about 30–45 minutes.
Things to do in Suzhou | By Long-Distance Bus
While the rail network has largely superseded buses, they remain a viable option for direct travel from cities without direct rail links or for reaching specific water towns like Zhouzhuang or Tongli directly.
- Main Terminals: Suzhou North Bus Station (near the railway station) and Suzhou South Bus Station.

We had a perfect stay at Pan Pacific Suzhou!
The suite was incredibly spacious and comfortable, consisting of two connected rooms. One room featured a king-size bed, a large living room, and a luxurious bathroom with a huge bathtub. The second room had two single beds, which was perfect for our two adult children.
The layout was very thoughtful, with two separate bathrooms and toilets, plus an additional guest toilet in the living room. With four of us staying together, we never had to wait for the bathroom — a huge convenience!
The hotel grounds are absolutely stunning, featuring beautiful gardens, traditional architecture, and a pagoda, making it feel like a scenic attraction in itself. As a special bonus, the hotel provided a complimentary 60-minute Hanfu experience, allowing us to take wonderful photos around the property.
Honestly, the hotel is so beautiful that you could easily spend a day exploring the grounds without leaving. Another thoughtful touch was that each room was provided with an entire carton of bottled mineral water, which was greatly appreciated.
Overall, an exceptional stay with spacious accommodations, beautiful surroundings, and excellent hospitality. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Suzhou!FromDKK 322

Our Suzhou trip was delightful from start to finish, and choosing the Shangri-La Suzhou at 168 Shishan Road was definitely the right call. As an established five-star hotel, its overall experience was impeccable. The hotel is centrally located in the Shishan core of the High-tech Zone, with a subway entrance right downstairs. Huaihai Street and Longfor Tianjie are within walking distance, making dining and shopping incredibly convenient. It's also just a ten-minute drive to Jinji Lake, perfect for exploring Moonlight Wharf and the Gate of the Orient by day, and catching the sunset over Jinji Lake in the evening. Returning to the hotel to relax after a long day of sightseeing was just what we needed.
We stayed in a high-floor room, which was spacious and airy, offering fantastic panoramic views through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and the soundproofing was excellent. The large bathtub and full set of branded toiletries were a welcome touch, helping to wash away all the travel fatigue. Check-in at the front desk was quick and efficient, and the concierge thoughtfully helped us plan our sightseeing route. The turndown service included complimentary Suzhou-style snacks, which was a lovely, warm gesture. Breakfast offered a wide variety of options, with authentic and delicious Suzhou noodles and pastries. The heated pool and gym facilities were also top-notch.
This hotel perfectly balances convenience with tranquility. It's a peaceful oasis amidst the hustle and bustle, making it an excellent choice for a stay in Suzhou, whether you're exploring the classical gardens or visiting Jinji Lake. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next visit.FromDKK 433

Without a doubt, this is the worst five-star hotel I've ever stayed in. The rooms and facilities are old and run-down. Everything from the walls to the elevators and the room fixtures was filthy. The weirdest thing is there's no proper shower in the room, just a bathtub. If you want to shower, you have to stand inside the tub and use a handheld sprayer. On top of that, the water temperature was impossible to adjust – it kept switching between freezing cold and scalding hot. For a room like this, costing 489 yuan a night, it should really be around 200 yuan. Even though it's an older hotel from 2012, I didn't expect a chain brand to be this bad. The staff's attitude was good, and both the Chinese restaurant and breakfast selection were quite varied. I originally wanted to give a terrible review, but since I booked it myself, I decided not to be too harsh.FromDKK 304

Came to Suzhou for a concert during the May Day holiday and brought the kids and my parents along for a trip. The hotel is just a few steps from the subway station. You need to transfer to get to the Olympic Sports Center, but it's very convenient, only about three stops in total. The three-bedroom suite we booked this time was perfect for a large family like ours. It also has three bathrooms and a large double-door refrigerator. However, someone had put durian in the fridge before, and it smelled awful, making it unusable for us. I hope the hotel can do a better job with cleaning and deodorizing! There's an oven, microwave, and induction hob, but no pots or pans were provided. Does that mean they expect guests to cook or not? We didn't need to cook, but it just felt a bit confusing. Outside Tongli Ancient Town Suzhou|21.92km from downtown
The hotel is located by Tongli Lake, surrounded by the lake on three sides. Being under the Hengli Group, the service, hygiene, and dining are all excellent. It's a shame that the development of Tongli Lake and Tongli Ancient Town is a bit disappointing. The environmental management of Tongli Lake is poor, with many dead fish floating on the surface. Many shops in Tongli Ancient Town are closed, and the lake is full of leaves and dust. Yet, the ancient town still charges an 80 RMB entrance fee during the day, which feels a bit steep. These factors must surely affect the hotel's business. Consequently, many of the hotel's older facilities haven't been updated in a timely manner, especially the faucets and showers; all the fittings are peeling, and the main showerhead in the shower room isn't working. However, these drawbacks haven't diminished my personal liking for Hengli Group hotels. I hope that through overall improvements in the surrounding area, the hotel can continue to upgrade and enhance the customer experience. Also, the breakfast was good, though there could have been a few more varieties of stir-fried green leafy vegetables.FromDKK 364

Dragon Boat Festival Getaway with the Kids | Suzhou InterContinental's Kids Suite Truly Understands Little Ones!
For the Dragon Boat Festival long weekend, we booked the Suzhou InterContinental's children's themed suite, and embarked on a relaxing vacation with our little one, Cheng Bao 🌿. As soon as we opened the door, Cheng Bao let out a joyful shout – the room was filled with fun, kid-friendly amenities!
There was a rocking horse 🐎, a mini play kitchen 🍳, and even a small trampoline and slide. From the moment we walked in, she was in full play mode, easily spending the whole afternoon just playing in the room. The bathroom had a large round bathtub, and the kids' amenities were quite comprehensive. This time, I forgot to bring Cheng Bao's car-shaped swim ring, so she couldn't fully enjoy playing in the water – a small regret for next time. The entire room was decorated perfectly for young children, with soft, thoughtful details. In the lobby downstairs, Cheng Bao devoured two coconuts 🥥, a lemon cake 🍰, and some freshly squeezed orange juice – her little mouth didn't stop! The Sky Lounge on the 25th floor is perfect for enjoying the night view, the Ferris wheel 🎡, and the iconic 'Big Pants' building.

I originally booked a Classic Room package. The front desk staff suggested upgrading to a Balcony Room, which is 30 square meters larger, for an additional 500 RMB. I took their advice, and after comparing, I think it was worth it because not only did I get more space, but also a large balcony and double breakfast. The room was high-ceilinged and cool, the air conditioning was comfortable, and the mattress was very pleasant. There were many books in the room to browse. The bathroom had a double vanity, but I was a little disappointed that not every sink had both hand soap and lotion. The left sink had hand soap, and the right one had lotion. So, if you wanted to wash your hands, you went to the left sink, and then to the right sink for lotion after washing. The two sinks were quite far apart with a large bathtub in the middle. I hope the hotel can be a bit more generous and provide both items at each sink, which would be much more convenient. From the moment I entered the hotel, the service felt like I was entering my own home. There were complimentary snacks, and the tea served was also good. All the staff greeted me with proactive smiles. The breakfast selection wasn't extensive, but everything was high quality, though there's room for improvement with the Western pastries. This trip, I specifically went for the noodles at Su Mian Fang. The service and taste were absolutely incredible, though the price was a bit on the high side. I wanted to eat them again. I'm not sure if it's because I rarely eat Su noodles and am therefore less knowledgeable, or if they truly are considered a delicacy among Suzhou noodles. Additionally, the hotel's environment is very Suzhou-like, and it's located by the lake in front of the Gate of the Orient.FromDKK 671

Throughout my stay, I was deeply impressed by the hotel's meticulous service. The front desk staff were warm and patient, making the check-in process quick and efficient. They proactively introduced the hotel's facilities and local attractions. Housekeeping tidied the room regularly and replenished amenities promptly. Any requests made to the front desk were met with a quick response and a polite, gentle attitude. The public areas were cleaned daily, free of any unpleasant odors, and the elevator control system ensured high security, which gave me great peace of mind traveling with elderly family members and children. From the moment we arrived with guidance and luggage assistance, to handling various minor requests later on, everything was managed properly without any perfunctory treatment. The service was professional and warm, and the attention to detail made the entire trip comfortable and relaxing. Huge thanks to the front desk for their warm welcome! Seeing that we had a small child, they proactively upgraded our room. The room decor was very cozy, and we had a direct view of the Gate of the Orient from our balcony. The hotel even provided a set of toiletries for children, which was such a thoughtful touch! 😄 The hotel is nestled in a quiet area despite being in the city, and it's not far from Shantang Street and Tiger Hill. This place is fantastic! The room is huge, with a living room and kitchen downstairs, and the bedroom and bathroom upstairs (there's also a separate toilet downstairs). It could easily accommodate four people with plenty of space to spare!
Outside, there's a massive cold plunge pool and a hot tub. The hot tub is kept warm 24/7, making it incredibly relaxing to soak in! If you come in the summer, you'd be able to swim in the cold pool. 😆
The hotel also offers a variety of free activities, including kayaks. The private waterfront access provides an absolutely stunning spot to watch the sunrise! And if you visit in the summer, you might even get to see the lotus flowers blooming.
The shuttle service staff were super friendly and helpful. Our housekeepers, Nancy and Tommy, were also great, providing excellent and prompt service via WeChat. Thank you all!

This hotel was a pleasant surprise! When I booked, I didn't realize it was an established garden hotel in Suzhou; I just thought it was conveniently located. But upon entering, I was greeted by lush greenery, rockeries, gardens, pavilions, and streams all around, which was absolutely refreshing. The room decor isn't modern, but it exudes a classic, old-money charm that feels sophisticated and substantial. Manager Wang Qin upgraded me to a deluxe twin room in the garden building and even gave my daughter a small gift. My window overlooked a small courtyard, and I slept wonderfully. During the day, I explored Pingjiang Road, Canglang Pavilion, Ouyuan Garden, and Keyuan Garden. This is my second visit to Suzhou, and it made me fall in love with the city all over again. The hotel was located at the lake with an amazing view. The rooms was really nice and super clean and the mattress was really comfortable to sleep very well. The facility of the hotel was nice and very stylish, all in white and modern. The hotel was really lovely. The only thing that is really not good organised, there is no food except breakfast and afternoon tea (in that case fruits). We needed to order from a delivery service (only Chinese food available and it's was not really good). A clean and affordable hot spring hotel with few guests. The service attitude was genuinely excellent – friendly, attentive, and patient. The hot springs were also good; the key is that there weren't many people, making for a very relaxing soak. Soaking in the winter is truly comfortable. We were warm and toasty, and it wasn't cold at all walking back from the outdoor pools.
The breakfast was abundant with plenty of choices.
However, a few complaints: The family room was advertised to have a sofa bed, but it was very small, only suitable for a child. Once unfolded, half was a hardboard and half a soft cushion, making it very uncomfortable to sleep on. The shampoo and body wash provided for showering at the hot springs were quite low-quality, and there was no conditioner. Also, the changing room air conditioning was insufficient, so it was quite cold while changing clothes.FromDKK 484

This is one of my favorite hotels! The stay included two hot spring tickets, but the front desk staff, knowing I was traveling alone, thoughtfully swapped one for a breakfast voucher instead. The room was very clean and comfortable, and I really liked the Chinese-style decor. The bed was super comfy, and even the hairdryer was good. They even gave me snacks upon check-in – extra thoughtful! The breakfast buffet was plentiful, a great mix of Chinese and Western dishes. The robot ice cream machine was a fun touch; I had two, and they were delicious. The hot springs were also excellent. I visited at the tail end of a holiday, so it was quiet with fewer people. There's also some lovely scenery nearby. Unfortunately, I only had time to visit Emerald Lake, but it was truly beautiful and put a perfect end to my trip. I specifically chose to stay at Park Hyatt Suzhou and booked the highly anticipated terrace suite. The entire experience was flawless, and I must particularly commend our dedicated butler, Rain!
The hotel itself is designed as a three-courtyard Suzhou-style private residence, featuring flowing water and koi ponds, intricately carved corridors – every step reveals a new scenic view. It's an oasis of calm amidst the bustling city, perfectly capturing the essence of Jiangnan charm. Our terrace suite spanned nearly 100 square meters, with one bedroom, one living room, two bathrooms, and a spacious 30-square-meter private terrace. The living room opened directly onto an outdoor viewing area, complete with a sofa and a casual dining table. From the terrace, we had an unobstructed panoramic view of Jinji Lake, with Suzhou's Ferris wheel and the Gate of the Orient clearly visible. Watching the sunset paint the lake in the evening and admiring the city lights at night was incredibly therapeutic, whether we were enjoying afternoon tea or simply relaxing. Every photo taken turned out to be stunning.
The soft furnishings in the room were elegant and refined, and the layout was well-designed, with distinct areas for the study, living room, and bedroom. The hardware was impeccable; the mini-bar's welcome fruit platter and beverages were generously provided.
What truly elevated our stay was our butler, Rain, whose service was perfectly balanced! Before our arrival, she proactively added me on WeChat and provided information about hotel amenities and the best times for terrace viewing. Upon arrival, she personally accompanied us, explaining the room type and facilities with meticulous care. During our stay, any request or message was met with an instant reply, demonstrating incredibly fast response times. She thoughtfully arranged turn-down service, maintaining a warm and attentive demeanor throughout without being intrusive – gentle yet professional.
The hotel breakfast offered a rich variety, including authentic Suzhou-style noodles with toppings, pastries, and a full selection of Chinese and Western hot dishes. The Suzhou cuisine at Xizhou Xuan was authentic, especially the salt-baked tofu, which was delicious! The courtyard afternoon tea had a wonderful ambiance. The heated swimming pool and gym were quiet and comfortable, and it was just a short walk to stroll along Jinji Lake.
Both the hardware, the views, and the service were exceptional. The private lake view from the terrace suite was unparalleled, and Butler Rain's thoughtful service truly upgraded our stay. I stayed in Suzhou for a few days and this hotel was really great, so I wanted to share my honest thoughts.
First, the location – it's next to a residential area, so it's very quiet. The soundproofing was surprisingly good, and it wasn't noisy at all at night. Getting around is also convenient, with a bus stop right nearby and the metro station just a few minutes' walk away, making it easy to get to attractions or wherever you need to go. Plus, you need to use your key card to access the stairwells, which feels very secure, and they even have mosquito repellent at the stairwell entrances – a really thoughtful touch!
The room was bigger than I expected, and the bathroom was a wet/dry separation design with a smart toilet. It was genuinely clean. On the first day, we received meal vouchers, and I didn't have high expectations, but that cured pork with rice was absolutely amazing! I had two bowls – the diced pork was so fragrant, and the rice was perfectly moist. I highly recommend it.
The bottled water in the room was also good, I don't know the brand, but it tasted great. I asked the front desk for extra bottles a few times during my stay, and they always gave them with a smile. Their service attitude was outstanding.
All in all, the next time I visit Suzhou, I'll definitely stay here again. I genuinely recommend it.FromDKK 182

My stay at the Hyatt Regency Suzhou far exceeded my expectations. The Executive Lounge, located on the 28th floor, offers spectacular views of Jinji Lake and the 'Big Trousers' (Suzhou IFS) while you enjoy delicious food.
The service from the Executive Lounge team, especially Sheila, Delia, Keets, Chisa, and Vivian, was truly remarkable. They were all incredibly polite, warm, and attentive, going above and beyond to meet guests' needs without any hesitation. A thoughtful detail was the Executive Lounge's reception desk being discreetly placed in the corridor, which effectively prevented noise when it was busy – a testament to their meticulous planning.
Dining was also excellent. The hot food selection was good and varied, and dishes were replenished promptly. While the breakfast spread wasn't the largest, the tranquil environment and superb views more than made up for it.

Suzhou Marriott Hotel Revisited – A Timeless Five-Star Experience
This is my second stay at the Suzhou Marriott, and it's as excellent as ever. The hotel is centrally located in the heart of Gusu District, making it a quick taxi ride to attractions like Hanshan Temple, Shantang Street, Pingjiang Road, and Lingering Garden.
Check-in was seamless. The spacious bathroom with a bathtub is a definite plus, and the stable water pressure and instant hot water in the shower, along with the large window, were the icing on the cake. From the higher floors, you get a fantastic view of the Gusu old town skyline, and the sunset streaming in during the evening was incredibly relaxing.
For breakfast, I highly recommend trying the freshly made Suzhou-style stewed pork noodles at the live cooking station – the broth is flavorful, and the noodles have a great bite.

🌟 A Home Away From Home: Shangri-La Suzhou Yuanqu – A Warm Encounter by Jinji Lake
I have to give a five-star review for my stay at Shangri-La Suzhou Yuanqu! The hotel's location is fantastic; it’s a 10-minute walk to Eslite Bookstore, and surrounded by shopping malls like SOGO (Japanese style), Shin Kong Mitsukoshi (********* style), and the neighboring GCL Plaza, making it perfect for an evening stroll to enjoy the night views or for shopping. The room was spacious and bright, with a modern and elegant design. The facilities were new and well-maintained, and the bedding was, as always, incredibly comfortable. I booked an Executive Room this time, which offered unique night views from a high floor and came equipped with a Laifen hairdryer and a capsule coffee machine.
The most impressive aspect was the impeccable service, especially from our butler, Yvonne. Even before check-in, she called to discuss my preferences and needs, meticulously arranging a room with a great view. During my stay, her response time was incredibly fast. Whether it was recommending local restaurants or coordinating room service, everything was handled efficiently and thoughtfully, making me feel like I was interacting with an old friend. Thanks to Yvonne's care, this holiday was exceptionally stress-free and enjoyable.
Furthermore, the hotel's breakfast deserves praise. It featured local Suzhou specialties like Zhu Xinnian pork dumplings, handmade large meat buns, and Xucheng Aocao noodles – all full of flavor! From its facilities to its service, Shangri-La Suzhou Yuanqu truly demonstrates a high standard. This will definitely be my first choice next time I visit Suzhou!FromDKK 675

My stay at Jinke Grand Hotel during the Labour Holiday was a great experience, especially considering the price. It was very cost-effective, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the amenities offered at such an affordable rate.
The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a nice view and even a bathtub, which was a great bonus. The hotel also has a swimming pool, which added to the overall experience. The location is very convenient. It is within walking distance of Suzhou North Railway Station, making it easy to get around. It is also about a 20-minutes trip to nearby malls and Western restaurants, which was perfect for me.
The service was excellent. The staff were professional, polite, and very helpful. I especially appreciated that they spoke both English and Mandarin, which made communication smooth and easy.
The only downside was the breakfast selection. While it was decent, I do wish there were more Western-style options, particularly when it comes to meat choices.

During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, I brought my family to stay at Hotel Nikko Suzhou. The hotel is conveniently located in the Huqiu district, right next to Shizishan Metro Station, making transportation easy. There are plenty of dining options nearby. Although the hotel shows its age a bit with slightly dated decor and facilities, it's well-maintained, upholding the standards of a seasoned star-rated hotel.
We stayed in an Executive King Room. While the room wasn't large, the view from the 27th floor was excellent, especially the mesmerizing night view. The room has a distinct Japanese style, with efficient use of space throughout, making it convenient and clean.
The complimentary afternoon tea and executive lounge benefits were nothing spectacular, but given the reasonable price of the room, we couldn't ask for more.
As it's a Nikko hotel, the breakfast is a blend of Chinese and Japanese cuisine. The Chinese-style Suzhou noodles and Japanese curry and rich soups were particularly noteworthy.
Finally, regarding the service, the hotel staff were attentive and thoughtful. Jiajia at the front desk was especially enthusiastic and professional during both check-in and check-out. Five-star rating for her!FromDKK 432

Cleanliness is consistently good: Rooms are clean, bedding is comfortable, and wet/dry separation is generally well-executed. Most people describe it as 'spotless'.
• High value for money: Prices are mostly between 200–400 RMB per night. For a price point comparable to a 3-star hotel, you get European-style decor and a warmly lit lobby.
• Standardized service: The front desk is responsive, luggage storage is available, some locations have robots for item delivery, and free parking is offered.
• Practical breakfast: Simple Chinese and Western options, including congee/noodles/bread/fruit – enough to fill you up, with some local specialties.
• Poor soundproofing (most common complaint): You can clearly hear conversations in the hallway, doors opening and closing, and the TV in the next room. Street-facing rooms will have traffic noise.
• Inconsistent facility newness:
◦ New branches (after 2022): Smart room controls, fresh air systems, wood-look flooring, 25–28㎡ rooms.
◦ Older branches: Worn carpets, outdated furniture, limescale on showerheads, slow drains, some rooms without windows/lingering smoke smell.
• Inconsistent service: Slow check-in during peak times, some front desk staff can be indifferent, and complaint resolution is average.
• Small space: Basic rooms are about 20㎡, making it cramped to move around once luggage is placed.
• Smoke/unpleasant odors: Some non-smoking rooms still have a smoke smell, and occasional drain odors.FromDKK 271

I am definitely a frequent traveler/stayer/eater, and I have experienced many high-end hotels/boutique B&Bs/boutique restaurants. But this time I want to say: This boutique B&B (inn) is worth my recommendation.

2. The male and female managers have a good hobby and cultivation of tea art/meditation and meditation, which adds a lot of added value and fun to the inn.
3. In addition to the good breakfast included in the inn, the inn owner will also invite customers to join their private lunch and dinner, which is very authentic Hunan cuisine, which is simply a unique and exquisite dish in Tongli.

great little getaway for a night. We used the public hot springs, which had a good few to choose from and wasnt overcrowded. I would recommend to the hotel and other hot spring hotels, that they keep kids from splashing and to use the actual swimming pool even if its cold. Guests come to relax. Not to participate in hot spring kids swimming lessons. But everything else was good. There was also no restaurant available. We were taken on a short walk out of the hotel to a restaurant which seemed to be the only thing available. We only really went for the hot springs and luckily we had a private one that we could finally relax in. Would recommend.FromDKK 511
