Yaowarat is a vibrant and charming district showcasing Chinese culture in Bangkok. It's bustling throughout the day, especially in the evenings when restaurants and street food stalls line both sides of the street. A wide variety of delicious food is available, from Chinese cuisine and seafood to desserts and many other famous local delicacies. The aroma of food and the illuminated signs create a unique atmosphere, perfect for strolling, sampling food, and taking photos. In addition, there are Chinese temples and old gold shops that reflect the community's history. With convenient access and many interesting spots, it's a tourist destination offering delicious food, fun, and a truly memorable cultural experience.

Do NOT trust the locals at the entrance! They will try to scam you, telling you there's an event at the Grand Palace that will open in the afternoon, and then try to take you on a boat trip. These people are all scammers. Ignore them and don't stop. Just walk straight to the entrance.

Steam rises from the old sugar-making stove at the alley entrance, maltose bubbles finely in the iron pot. The old man tending the stove draws the sugar into thin threads, which soon solidify into crisp candy, its sweet aroma filling half the street. A small copper hammer is used to break it, crushing the sugar into crumbs on straw paper, the taste crisp and sweet. Children stand around with coins, the old man smiling as he hands out crumbs, saying everyone gets a share, no need to fight. Every household in the alley hangs preserved meats under their eaves, the aroma mingling with the sweetness of the sugar, filling the street with the warmth of the New Year. I walk slowly, sugar crumbs falling onto my clothes. An old saying goes, "The aroma of sugar from the stove heralds the approaching New Year," why bother going to the bustling market? Holding freshly hammered, hot sugar at the alley entrance, I receive the warmest New Year's warmth, transforming the chill of the journey into a sweet warmth in my sleeves.

Some of the conceirge and front desk workers were useless.
One of the conceirge didn’t give me a change and kept told me that he gave me the change.
I PROOVE and told him that he need to give it to me. Then he was using translator and be like “what do you want to say to me” wow
And front desk boy wasn’t polite at all. Is it so hard to say good bye when check out process is done?
He told me to wait and then went away that I had to ask if check out process is all done.
And trainee tagged girl saw me that I need a help but she contacted my eye and didn’t even care at all. What a great service
However gentleman in a black suits were so kind. They really helped me.
Ammenities were poor. No razor no comb
Besides that quite alright location and quite a fancy hotel
Housekeeping team was so polite and friendly as well. Security guard as well!
Irony that front desk and conceirge’s service is poor compare to them.
Accomodation is alright

Siam Bangkok|3.59km from downtown
Service: Excellent. Someone came to help with our luggage even before we entered the lobby. The front desk staff spoke a little Chinese and were very friendly and welcoming. The cleaning staff were also very kind. We arrived early, around 12:40 PM, and the front desk told us we could check in about an hour later, which was faster than I expected.
Breakfast: The variety was quite good, covering Chinese, Thai, and Western options. There was mangosteen among the fruits (see pictures 4, 5, 6).
Deposit: 1000 Thai Baht. I paid with cash, and it was refunded upon check-out.
Facilities: As others have mentioned, the room's air conditioning was extremely cold, and even when adjusted to a higher temperature, it remained cold, so I turned it off. It was still a bit cool with the AC off, but bearable and I could sleep soundly. Our room didn't face the main road, so it was quiet. The room was very, very spacious (see picture 1, we booked a premier twin room). However, one power outlet in the room was broken (on the desk), but the others (by the bed and in the bathroom) worked fine. The bathroom setup wasn't ideal; there was only a bathtub. If you showered standing up and pulled the curtain, water would still spray outside the tub, making it very easy to slip when getting out. You need to be very careful, and it's best to wipe the bathroom floor dry with a towel yourself – this is a safety hazard. On our first night, only cold water came out of the showerhead, no matter how we adjusted the temperature; it was cold or slightly lukewarm. We were so cold after showering that we started sneezing. The next morning, we immediately reported it to the front desk staff, who said she would send someone to fix it right away. About an hour later, when we returned to the room, the water temperature was back to normal, and we had hot water. The repair response was very quick.
Location: Excellent. It's near Phaya Thai station, which connects to both the metro and the Airport Rail Link (note that the entrances for the Airport Rail Link and metro are different). You just need to walk to the crossroads, cross one road, and then a few more steps to reach the metro station. There's a 7-Eleven convenience store right next to the hotel. I recommend taking the metro from here to Sathorn Pier (it's the starting station, so fewer people; the next stop, Icon Siam, gets very crowded). From Sathorn Pier, you can take a blue flag boat to explore the Chao Phraya River (but be aware that the last boat is around 6:30 PM). I rode all the way to Wang Lang Market, which starts closing around 5 PM and is mostly frequented by locals.
Food near the hotel:
1. Next to the 7-Eleven, there's an old-school boat noodle shop called Pae Tiang Fish Ball Noodle. It's good value for money, but they don't have air conditioning, so I didn't go in for lunch as it was too hot.
2. I went to a food court at a street corner. This food court doesn't show up on maps, but it's on the second floor of the office building where Normal Steak is located. You take the escalator up, and it closes at 2 PM. You need to exchange cash (Thai Baht) for food coupons at the ticket counter to buy food (e.g., 70 Baht for an equivalent amount of coupons). I had the thickened noodle soup from the leftmost stall (see pictures 2 and 3), which I found very delicious and good value. It's mostly Thai locals eating there.
3. There's also Coffee Factory next to the hotel, a very popular Instagrammable cafe that opens at 8 AM, but by 7:45 AM, there were already many Chinese people queuing. This shop does not accept WeChat Pay or Alipay; only cash or credit card.
Taxi: It's very easy to get a ride-hailing service like Grab from outside the hotel. My Grab usually arrived within 3-5 minutes. However, traffic in downtown Bangkok can be quite congested.FromPHP 5,645

My stay at the Hotel Muse Bangkok was nothing short of exceptional.
From the moment I arrived, the warmth and professionalism of the entire team stood out. The ladies at reception were incredibly welcoming and efficient, the waitresses were attentive and genuinely friendly, and the doormen were always ready with a smile and helpful assistance. It’s rare to find such a consistently high level of hospitality across every touchpoint.
I would especially like to extend my sincere thanks to the supervisors, Antonio and Chart, who went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly and that my experience was truly memorable. Their attention to detail and genuine care made a real difference.
The food at Le Salon was excellent—beautifully presented and full of flavour. One of the highlights of my stay was spending an evening at the rooftop speakeasy on the 24th floor, enjoying the stunning views across Bangkok. It was a fantastic atmosphere and a perfect way to unwind.
I would highly recommend Hotel Muse Bangkok to anyone visiting the city. An absolutely excellent experience from start to finish.FromPHP 7,909

This stay, I booked two room types, with the only difference being the room size, and overall both were great. The location is excellent; it's a 7-8 minute walk to Central World and Big C, and the BTS station is very close, making it convenient to get anywhere. This hotel is quite large, spread across several buildings: A, B, C, and D. I booked a room with a living area, and it was spacious – the bedroom alone was bigger than rooms in some other hotels. Overall, the room's facilities felt a bit dated, with dark solid wood furniture. The only inconvenience was the power outlets; the three-prong kind didn't work for my laptop charger, though my phone charger was fine. The hotel pool is on the 11th floor, next to a bar. Breakfast was extensive, with a wide variety of dishes. I stayed one night and wasn't even asked for a deposit.FromPHP 2,000

Mercure is my families most favorite hotel. We’ve been there roughly 10 times. It is our go to spot. This time around we were shocked that one of the employees was very rude. Her name was KATE! She gave me an extremely hard time at checkout I was a few minutes late and had my two little children with me and she felt the need to remind me 8 times while I was checking out. In the future I will definitely deal with a different person and she almost had me choose another hotel on our way back. Horrible customer service by KATE! I really enjoyed my time at Patong Beach. The beach has a lively atmosphere, and there was always something happening, from people playing in the water to vendors selling snacks and drinks. The sand was clean enough for relaxing, and the sea was warm, although it could get crowded during the afternoon. I stayed until sunset, and the view was beautiful with the sky changing to shades of orange and pink. After that, I walked around the nearby streets where there were plenty of restaurants, shops, and places to enjoy the evening. It was convenient because everything was within walking distance. If you prefer a quiet beach, this may not be the best choice, but if you enjoy a vibrant atmosphere with lots of activities, Patong Beach is definitely worth visiting. I would happily come back for another relaxing evening by the sea.

The room was very clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. I was especially impressed by the staff’s attention to detail and the genuine care they showed to every guest. The hotel facilities were outstanding, and everything was organized perfectly.
The restaurants and bars at the resort were fantastic. The food was delicious, and the drinks were excellent. One of my favorite parts of the hotel was the beautiful beachfront swimming pool — such an amazing place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
A special thank you to Anna and Duan at the reception for taking such great care of us. Their kindness and professionalism made our experience even more memorable.

Phuket Airport Area Phuket|14.68km from downtown
I really liked the hotel. The biggest plus is the location. It's only about an 11-minute walk from the airport, so if you need to stay overnight between flights or just don't want to travel anywhere after a flight, this is a very convenient option.
The breakfast is quite tasty, and the hotel is clean, cozy, and comfortable. Everything is tidy, and the staff is pleasant. For its price, the hotel fully meets expectations and is an excellent choice for a short stay.
As for the downsides, I'd note the absence of slippers and dental amenities (toothbrush and toothpaste) in the room, as well as rather weak internet.
Overall, I liked everything else, and my impressions were positive. I would gladly stay here again.FromPHP 1,400

Then, we change to a new room with King but without upgrade and no apologize.

Excellent family hotel! Breakfasts are good until 10:00 AM; they keep replenishing and cooking until the very end, so you can linger. The grounds are large and well-maintained. The water park is super – great fun for both adults and kids; we couldn't get our child off the slides! There are two large slides, plus a small pool with slides for younger children. Plenty of sun loungers for everyone. The hotel cafe is inexpensive. There's a kids' playroom (schedule in photos). Not many Russians here. The beach is just across the road. Opposite the hotel, you'll find a 7/11, cafes, and massage places. Kata beach is about a 20-minute walk away. Honestly, no complaints at all; we loved everything.FromPHP 3,273

This resort is located in Rawai, and it’s a great choice if you’re looking to stay away from the chaos of Patong. We booked a room with direct pool access, and it was absolutely worth it, especially in Thailand’s warm weather.
We also really enjoyed the fresh coconut juice and mango sticky rice from the small kiosk just outside the hotel. It’s very convenient, with a convenience store nearby as well perfect for quick snacks.
The beach area has a lovely atmosphere, especially the chairs under the trees, which make for a relaxing spot to sit and enjoy the view. However, swimming isn’t ideal as the water is a bit murky. It also seemed like some drainage from nearby resorts flows directly into the sea, which was disappointing.FromPHP 1,845

Our daily à la carte dinner for two at Red Chopsticks restaurant was generally good, though the service was a bit slow and there was a queue to wait. The dishes themselves were decent.
The included brunch was incredibly rich and delicious.
We initially booked a garden-view room but were upgraded to a stunning sea-view room. The overall style is very 'old money' – even though some facilities are a bit outdated, the beautiful environment and beach more than make up for it. The hotel has extensive greenery, making it quiet and perfect for a relaxing stay. There are also many restaurants nearby. The room was big and we were really happy with it. We loved the bed — it was very large and comfortable. We didn’t get to use the swimming pool because we didn’t have much time. The staff were great and excellent overall.
We did not request housekeeping on our second day. Someone cleaned the room and thank you for that, but they forgot to replace the bath mat when we returned around 11 PM. I was too tired to ask, so I just let it go. However, I was surprised later when they questioned why the bath mat was missing. I definitely had no plans to take a bath mat with me on my way to Koh Pangan! 😂 the lady who assisted us in checked put were so lovely she just did her job and apologize for asking this and she did a great job.And to the guy who assisted printing my bus ticket thank you so much.
The towels also weren’t changed during service and there was no bath mat, but honestly, it was fine with us. Still, being accused of taking the bath mat was a bit insane. 😭FromPHP 2,636

No need to rush for trains or fight for good camera spots. Wake up and head out; eat whatever you want, stop whenever you want, go wherever you want. Even sitting on a roadside bench for half an hour watching passersby feels comfortable. It turns out travel doesn't have to be exhausting; comfort is paramount. I didn't take many Instagram-worthy photos on this trip, but I remember the fragrance of plum blossoms at the alley entrance, the breeze on the mountaintop, the sweet watermelon, and the relaxation of sitting and watching the sea for an afternoon. These small moments of happiness last longer than any photograph. That's the meaning of traveling.

Climbing Doi Suthep was an immersive experience following in the footsteps of the Lanna culture my professor taught me (my first time climbing a mountain as a young person). I loved the Lanna art at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. It started with admiring the magnificent Lanna architecture. The gleaming golden pagoda is a valuable example of Chiang Saen art. The courtyard at the top is filled with intricate stucco carvings. If you're a photography enthusiast, the early morning or sunset light makes for incredibly beautiful photos. The Naga staircase is also stunning, though it's a very tiring climb! The 306 steps of the Naga staircase are a very distinctive symbol. Before going up Doi Suthep, stop by and pay respects at the Kruba Srivichai Monument, as it marks the starting point at the foot of the mountain, just like my Lanna culture professor told us about. Praying for blessings before ascending the mountain is a good idea. I recommend arriving in the early morning (around 7:00-8:00 AM) when the weather is cool and comfortable, making the climb easier, and it won't be too crowded. Going later in the morning or afternoon might be too hot.

This is Chiang Mai's largest night market. It's crowded with many locals, so I recommend going early.
The main street is packed with souvenirs, drinks, and fruit, and there are food stalls clustered around the temples on both sides, so you won't have any trouble finding something to eat. There are toilets scattered around, and they cost 5B, but they're well-maintained, have toilet paper, and are easy to use.
Prices were generally reasonable, and fruit and other items were cut and bagged with gloves, so hygiene was not an issue.
I finally got to try the Ayutthaya specialty roti sai mai, which I couldn't find in Bangkok.
The night bazaars east of the old town are all expensive and geared toward Westerners, so I recommend the Sunday and Saturday markets here, which are cheaper and have a wider variety!

First impression upon entering the lobby was good, felt like a locally run establishment. They provided a nice welcome package in the room, which was a pleasant touch. However, the shower water kept fluctuating between hot and cold, and the bath towels had yellow stains – I didn't make a big deal out of it at the time. The next morning, after the staff cleaned the room, they took our room card which was in the power slot. I noticed immediately and went to the hallway to confirm. The cleaner tried to take it again, but then returned it to us. If I hadn't checked promptly, I probably would have been charged for it upon checkout. Also, the cleaner threw away my orange earplugs that I left on the bedside table. It's really hard for me to sleep without earplugs every night, so I was quite upset about that. Finally, breakfast was very disappointing – too monotonous, mainly simple Western options, and they didn't even have the most basic Southeast Asian noodle soup. I regret booking the room with breakfast. It's not as good as the Mario Pork Trotter Rice place across the street; their noodle soup is delicious. The 0.5 points out of 3.5 for service is specifically for the welcome snacks they provided. The pool is nice though.FromPHP 4,373

The breakfast beverages are highly recommended – they're excellent, truly excellent! Coffee and Thai milk tea are all available; I had two cups every day. However, the placemats in the breakfast area were incredibly, incredibly dirty!! One guest after another, and they were never changed!!! Disgusting.

We loved our stay at the Viangluang resort with two minor exceptions: 1. The water did not mix well in the shower so we either got scorching hot water or cold. Warm water was very hard to achieve and required constant moving of the shower knob. 2. We were placed on the third floor and there were no elevators. So we had to walk up 3 flights of steps. Most of the times it wasn't a problem with the exception of when we came exhausted from a whole day of exploring Chiang Mai and/or when we forgot something in the room and had to return to get the item. My husband is 60 years old and it was a bit of a challenge at times. Perhaps we could have asked to change the room to a floor below but we didn't. 3. The water in the pool was freezing cold and almost no one could enable swim in it. Other than that we loved our stay! The breakfast was great, the room was beautifully decorated and clean. The pool was charming but very cold. The service and attention to detail was outstanding! What a pleasant surprise! This was the cheapest hotel we stayed at during our Chinese New Year trip to Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. While it's not a Banyan Tree, the hotel's service, rooms, and food were all excellent. We had all our meals at the hotel, and even though it's halfway up a mountain, there's absolutely no need to bring your own food. The hotel restaurant serves delicious and affordable dishes; we paid less than 100 RMB per person. I highly recommend the Pad Thai – it's fantastic! Breakfast is à la carte, with tea, coffee, and eggs prepared in various ways. There are also poolside activities with an instructor leading aerobics. You can just lie on a beach chair and gaze at the sea, and our room balcony also faced the ocean. The spa was very reasonably priced.
The room was huge; the tatami area in the living room could easily sleep three more people, haha. Besides needing a taxi to go anywhere, everything else was perfect. It's a great option if you're staying in Koh Samui for a longer period and want to pair it with a high-end hotel, or if it's your first time in Koh Samui and you plan on taking island excursions. During Chinese New Year, it felt like it was mostly foreigners, with very few Chinese guests. Breakfast was decent, and the front desk staff who checked us in was very polite, even offering to help with our luggage when we left. However, the executive lounge dining experience was poor. They didn't proactively offer to take our orders, only mentioning we could order after we had already finished eating. What's more, they asked to see our passports – not mandatory, but who brings their passport to a restaurant? We’d also like to express our sincere thanks to the restaurant manager and her team for making our dining experiences truly exceptional. Every meal was beautifully presented, and the service was amazing. Their attention to detail and heartfelt hospitality made each visit memorable and special.
We travel often, but this stay stood out because of the exceptional people who went out of their way to make our time memorable. Thank you to everyone at SALA Samui Chaweng Beach Resort, we’ll absolutely be back and will be recommending you to family and friends! 🥰FromPHP 25,000

Chaweng Noi Koh Samui|2.51km from downtown
On the plus side, the hotel grounds are absolutely stunning, both morning and evening, and always spotless.
The rooms are large and unique. We stayed in a room with a jacuzzi; you can use it, but the pump is very noisy.
Breakfast comes with a gorgeous view. The selection isn't huge, but you'll definitely find something to eat.
The hotel is located away from all the entertainment, but if you have a motorbike, it's a 5-7 minute ride to the center.
Be prepared to walk a bit further to swim, as there are many rocks near the hotel and it's almost always low tide.FromPHP 3,336

Chaweng Beach Koh Samui|2.18km from downtown
I have stayed at Lub d several times and recently spent a full week here. Overall, my stay was smooth and enjoyable, as always, and I truly appreciate the social atmosphere and the location.
However, this time I was disappointed with the late check-out experience. On a previous stay, I was kindly allowed a late check-out until 3 pm at no extra cost. This time, I was told there is a strict policy and was charged 500 baht per hour, which added up quickly.
I understand that policies can change and that complimentary options are not guaranteed. Still, as a returning guest, I expected a bit more flexibility or at least a more considerate approach.
Because of this experience, I have to lower my rating.FromPHP 1,409

Chaweng Beach Koh Samui|3.62km from downtown
This hotel is located on Chaweng Beach, very close to the airport. I was quite apprehensive before arriving, not knowing what to expect. But once I got there, I realized I made the right choice. The hotel is beautiful. We booked a room in the same building as the front desk, and they upgraded us to a king-size bed plus a small bed. The restaurant and villa rooms are across the street, offering breakfast with a stunning sea view every day. After breakfast, you can just grab a lounge chair and enjoy the incredible scenery, sitting there facing the ocean all day long. Most of the guests are from Europe and America. The front desk staff and restaurant servers are all very enthusiastic and helpful, answering every question. Room cleaning is also quick and thorough. The hotel offers massages at reasonable prices, and the pasta, burgers, pizzas, and drinks at the restaurant are all delicious and moderately priced. The only thing to note is that the road leading from the main street to the hotel is a bit steep with uphill and downhill sections, which can be a bit tiring if you're pulling luggage.FromPHP 5,264

Bo Phut Koh Samui|4.02km from downtown
This was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. It’s a bit smaller and more peaceful, with fewer people, which made the atmosphere really relaxing. I truly enjoyed being there every single day.
All the staff were quite young and incredibly friendly, always making us feel welcome. The breakfast had a smaller selection, but everything you need was there and it was always fresh and enjoyable.
The bed was honestly a 10/10 – so comfortable that it was hard to leave it.
I was genuinely sad to leave this hotel and I would happily come back anytime in the future. I highly recommend staying here.FromPHP 5,327

Chaweng Beach Koh Samui|2.01km from downtown
The hotel is quite old, but it has beautiful grounds and lush, tropical plants. The breakfasts are decent, the pools are clean, and the staff is attentive. The squirrels near the restaurant are adorable! The sea and beach are simply stunning, and there were always enough sun loungers. The plumbing in the room was fine.
Now for the downsides: The sun loungers and their mattresses are very old. The bed linen also looks quite worn. The room is a bit dark, and the air conditioning blows directly onto the beds, making it impossible to sleep with it on. The dishes in the restaurant are also dated, which was unpleasant. There's also not enough lighting in the evenings, even on the hotel grounds. On my last day, it rained, and I slipped and fell on the tiles; luckily, I didn't break anything.
We stayed in room A06, which had direct pool access. However, even in these rooms, which are the furthest from the bar, you can still hear noise from the neighboring bar at night. If you're a light sleeper, this might be uncomfortable.
The planes weren't really an issue; they don't fly by that often.
I'd like to address parents separately: unsupervised children in the pool were behaving terribly – screaming, teasing, and swearing – all right outside our rooms. Their parents paid no attention, making it impossible to relax in our room or on the terrace.
Overall, though, I recommend the hotel because of its location and proximity to the sea.FromPHP 7,145

Lamai Beach Koh Samui|7.76km from downtown
It was really great time. Large rooms with new equipment. Great pool and sun beds. Tasty breakfast with coffee from coffee machines and seaview. Friendly staff. Nice cocktails. Hotel offer transfer to central lamai and back, also you could rent a bike in hotel and pay by card on checkout
The only disappointment is soundproof from the road nearby the hotel. Sleeping rooms located not far from the main road, so you hear every vehicle on the road, some of them are very noisy.

Bo Phut Koh Samui|5.43km from downtown
I am delighted! Nice, cozy place. The staff is super polite, like in a luxury hotel. There is a swimming pool. The room was very comfortable, smelled nice. The only thing was that there was an unpleasant strange smell in the bathroom. And maybe the room could be painted a little. And I was a little upset that they changed the roofs, they are not like in the photo in the description, I really like this natural design. There is a refrigerator, umbrella, water, air conditioning. The beach is not far away. I was very pleased. I recommend!FromPHP 3,109

Super friendly staff, and they were very hospitable and willing to help with anything.
The airline misplaced my bag, and when it arrived at the hotel on a later date, the reception called me straight away to let me know that it had arrived.
The restaurant served a good variety of tasty food at a very reasonable price.
My only criticism is that I think the air conditioning unit in my room needed a bit of maintenance: it took a long time to cool the room, which is not ideal in Thailand!
Overall, I had a pleasant stay here and felt it was a fair price for what was offered.FromPHP 2,982

Chaweng Beach Koh Samui|1.37km from downtown
We chose a family room with a bunk bed for the child, but for some reason, this type of room was 2.5 times more expensive than a standard one. It was difficult to adjust the air conditioning so it wouldn't blow directly onto the bed. They only provided a maximum of 4 bottles of 0.5L water per day, which wasn't enough for us, so we had to buy more. The cleaning was good, and the bedding was clean and comfortable. The pool was also nice. Breakfast was a buffet for 250 baht, but the selection was small, although it's a good option if you eat a lot. There are many cafes, a shop, and a very good beach nearby.FromPHP 5,527

Choeng Mon Beach Koh Samui|4.96km from downtown
A nice resort at its peak, but now quite run down and old. Had some issues with water in the shower and the walls and furniture show a lot of wear. Could not find a hairdryer either. However, it was cheap, the room was large, bed comfortable, pool is nice. Room had balcony. And you can walk across the street to Hyatt Regency and have food at their beach club, maybe even pool, etc.
Staff was friendly and helpful. It was good for my short stay purposes and close to the airport too.FromPHP 3,009
When is the Best Time to Visit Thailand
The best time to visit Thailand isbetween November and February, when the weather is at its coolest and driest. Across most of the country, temperatures range from 20°C to 32°C (68°F to 90°F), making it perfect for beaches, sightseeing, and cultural festivals like Loi Krathong.
Because Thailand’s microclimates vary, the ideal travel window depends on which regions you want to explore:
- Andaman Coast (Phuket, Krabi, Phi Phi): The best months are November to April. Seas are calmest for diving, and visibility is at its peak. The monsoon season typically runs from May to October.
- Gulf of Thailand (Koh Samui, Koh Tao, Koh Pha Ngan): Unlike the rest of the country, this coast experiences its heaviest rainfall from September to December. The best time to visit is January through September, with the driest months falling between June and August.
- Bangkok and Central Thailand: The dry, cooler season lasts from November to February. March and April become intensely hot, while the wet season peaks from August to October.
- Northern Thailand (Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai): Winters are crisp, making it an excellent time for trekking, especially from November to February.
Depending on your travel style, you can tailor your trip around specific conditions:
- Peak Season (November–February): Best weather, but it brings heavy crowds and top-tier pricing for flights and hotels.
- Hot & Festive Season (March–April): Temperatures soar, but it coincides with Songkran (the Thai New Year/Water Festival) in mid-April, making it a thrilling cultural experience.
- Green/Low Season (July–October): The monsoon season brings high humidity and daily, heavy downpours. However, the countryside is lush, and resorts drop their rates significantly.

How much do Thailand holiday packages from Australia cost?
The cost of Thailand holiday packages from Australia varies widely depending on your departure city, travel season, accommodation tier, and trip duration. As a rough guide, budget 7-night packages including return flights from Sydney or Melbourne start from around A$1,200–A$1,800 per person, mid-range packages with 4-star hotels typically range from A$2,000–A$3,500 per person, and luxury 5-star packages can cost A$4,000–A$8,000+ per person. Travelling during shoulder season (May–October) often unlocks lower prices. You can compare current Thailand holiday package prices on Trip.com to find the best deal for your budget. -
What is the best month to travel to Thailand from Australia?
The best time to visit Thailand from Australia is generally between November and February, during the cool and dry season. Temperatures are comfortable (25–32°C), rainfall is minimal, and beaches are at their best. This is peak season, so book early and expect higher prices. March to May is hotter but less crowded, while June to October brings lush landscapes and lower prices — though some regions experience afternoon monsoon showers. Note that the Gulf Coast (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan) has a different rainy season to the Andaman Coast (Phuket, Krabi), so there's always a great Thai destination to visit year-round. -
Is $1,000 AUD enough for a month in Thailand?
A$1,000 for a full month in Thailand is very tight but possible if you travel on an ultra-budget (guesthouses, local street food, local transport). Most budget backpackers spend around A$40–A$60 per day covering accommodation, meals, and transport — so A$1,000 gives you roughly 17–25 days of spending money. This does not include your flights or any package costs. For a more comfortable experience with a private room, occasional restaurant meals, and day trips, budget at least A$70–A$100 per day on the ground. -
Is $500 AUD enough for a week in Thailand?
Yes, A$500 can cover a week's spending money in Thailand if you're travelling on a budget — especially once flights and accommodation are pre-paid through a holiday package. Street food meals cost just A$2–A$5, local transport is inexpensive, and many beaches and temples are free to explore. For a more comfortable week including mid-range dining, a couple of tours, and spa treatments, budget around A$700–A$1,000 in spending money on top of your package costs. -
Do Thailand holiday packages from Australia include flights?
Many Thailand holiday packages from Australia include return flights, accommodation, and airport transfers — making them a convenient and often cost-effective way to book your trip. You can find 'Thailand holiday packages including flights from Australia' on platforms like Trip.com, where you can filter by departure city (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth), travel dates, and budget. Some packages are 'land only' (accommodation and transfers only), which suits travellers who prefer to book their own flights or use frequent flyer points. -
Do Australians need a visa to visit Thailand?
Australian passport holders currently benefit from a visa exemption for Thailand, allowing stays of up to 60 days for tourism purposes without needing to apply in advance. For longer stays, a tourist visa or other visa type can be applied for through the Royal Thai Embassy in Australia. Visa policies can change, so always check the latest requirements on the Thai Embassy Australia website or the Australian Government's Smartraveller website before travelling.
