Other Train Stations in Kunming

Most travellers only ever see Kunming South, the high-speed hub out in Chenggong, but the city keeps a handful of other stations that still matter depending on where you're headed. Kunming Station sits at the southern end of Beijing Road, on the edge of the city centre, and handles conventional trains — if your ticket says "Kunming" and not "Kunming South", this is where you go, and the two are roughly 30 km apart. Kunming North is now best known as the home of the Yunnan Railway Museum and the old metre-gauge line, so it's a stop for railway history rather than for catching a train. A few smaller stations handle suburban and freight traffic and rarely show up on a visitor's itinerary.

The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, very close to Cuihu Park and the Former Site of the Yunnan Military Academy. The library is right across the street, and Kunming Old Street is within walking distance. There are tons of restaurants and snack shops nearby, and a Walmart is also very close. The hotel facilities are comprehensive, the rooms are spacious, clean, and tidy, and the staff are always responsive to requests. Breakfast is mainly Western-style, with a wide variety and high quality. We even received snowflake crisps and fruit upon check-in. The price is very reasonable, offering excellent value for money. Just one suggestion: the water pressure from the bathroom faucet is a bit low, making it a rush to wash up; this could use some improvement.

After leaving a green hotel full of corridors and doors early in the morning, arriving at the Holiday Inn City Center was a truly pleasant experience. The hotel staff were very enthusiastic and even upgraded me to a Grand Corner Room. Lying on the sofa by the large window and looking outside was so relaxing, it really brightened my mood. I ordered the breakfast small-pot rice noodles, and it was delivered quickly. The mini-bar also provided complimentary tamarind juice, which was perfect for cutting through the richness of the Erkuai (rice cakes). I also requested a knife to cut my mangosteen, and it was promptly delivered. The only minor regret was that the bathtub stopper was missing at the bottom; I came back too late that day to ask the staff to fix it. This is a small flaw, and the hotel is still excellent, but I do hope it can be fixed to make the stay even more perfect.

My stay at Kunming Jia Hua Plaza Hotel was excellent overall. The hotel's location is fantastic, with convenient transportation and easy access to attractions and dining options. The front desk staff were very welcoming and efficient with check-in and check-out, and all the staff were friendly. The room was clean and tidy. Despite the hotel being over 20 years old, the facilities are well-maintained, and the bedding was comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. The hotel environment is generally quiet, making it a suitable choice for a stay while exploring Kunming. The breakfast offered a good variety of dishes and tasted great. Overall, I was very satisfied with the location, service, and the entire stay. It offers good value for money, and I would consider staying here again on my next visit to Kunming.

The hotel boasts convenient transportation and a superb location right by the Panlong River, with a riverside walkway just outside. It's within walking distance of Spring City 66, the Flying Tigers Memorial Museum, and Dongfeng Square. Parking is hassle-free with an attendant on duty. The facilities are excellent, with a spacious bathroom featuring a wet-dry separation. There were no issues with mosquitoes in the room. Power outlets are conveniently placed. The bedding and pillows were comfortable. The most commendable aspect was the prompt housekeeping by the floor attendant, who provided excellent assistance. Angel/nova, our 'journey connector,' was incredibly responsive and offered very effective help. The breakfast selection was rich, with different Yunnan specialty dishes offered daily. The light meals and afternoon tea at the executive lounge were also fantastic. Our experience here was excellent, making it the best choice for rest and relaxation during our trip.

We were on a family trip and originally planned to stay at the Grand Hyatt Kunming, but we couldn't get a room because we hadn't booked in advance. So we ended up staying at this hotel instead, and the overall experience was comfortable and recommendable. Our room was on a higher floor with an expansive view, though there's still some development happening around the hotel. The room itself was small but clean, and the facilities were well-maintained. The shower had great water pressure, which was refreshing. The window allowed for good natural light, and it was quiet at night, so we slept soundly. Downstairs, there are many snack options, and Wanda Plaza is right next door, making it convenient for finding food. The hotel breakfast offered a rich selection. The hotel is about a 15-minute taxi ride from Kunming Station. The overall price was affordable, making it a good choice for family trips, business travel, and more. Yuma and Ray at the front desk were very enthusiastic and meticulous in their service, and other staff members were also friendly and greeted guests warmly, which was much appreciated.

The location is superb, offering a tranquil escape right in the heart of the bustling city. I booked a room on the third floor with a private hot spring tub. It was incredibly pleasant to soak in the hot spring while enjoying the moonlight during an autumn evening, especially around the Mid-Autumn Festival. Finding such a unique space amidst the city's hustle and bustle made for a truly special stay. Breakfast was à la carte, and although I didn't have high expectations for the 'crossing-the-bridge' noodles, the taste surprisingly exceeded them. I was very satisfied.

After a hesitant final leg of our family trip to Yunnan returning through Kunming, we chose this hotel near the old street in the city center. The location is super convenient—right downstairs is a commercial area with a fantastic Southeast Asian style street. You can easily walk to the Old Street, Nanping Pedestrian Street, and the Wine Glass Building, making it great for traveling with kids. We booked the family room, which was exceptionally spacious with wooden furniture. Although the facilities are a bit dated, it had a great vibe and a subtle, pleasant fragrance. The hotel service was mediocre; two simple requests were rejected outright without a second thought, and the staff lacked proactivity—perhaps because it leans towards being a business hotel.

I chose this hostel for my solo trip, and the overall experience was surprisingly good. The room was very clean, and the bed had a privacy curtain and a bedside charging port, so you have your own small space when you pull the curtain. The bathroom and shower were clean, with plenty of hot water 24/7. The common areas had a great atmosphere for relaxing and chatting, where you can meet travelers from all over. The front desk service was attentive and even offered simple tips for local sightseeing routes. The location is excellent, convenient for dining, drinking, and getting around. This isn't my first time staying at the Cuihu Hotel. I was initially torn between here and the Grand Hyatt, but I just couldn't resist coming back because I think it's better. The service is excellent, and it's very close to Cuihu Lake, so you can go for a stroll when it's less crowded. For coffee lovers, there are also many cafes nearby where you can relax and enjoy a cup. Xiao Kong, Xiao Fan, and Xiao Deng provided incredibly thoughtful service. Since we were traveling with a child, they even upgraded our room and reserved a quiet, high-floor room according to our preferences. Although it wasn't the season for watching seagulls, Zhang Can at the front desk still gave our child a small gift, which they absolutely loved! Even though the hotel has been open for a while and some of the facilities aren't as new as those in more recently built hotels, my whole family agreed that there's no limit to how many times we'd stay at Cuihu.

My overall experience during this stay was absolutely fantastic, and I must give a special shout-out to Lily (the server). She was incredibly welcoming during check-in, proactively helped with luggage to my room, and thoroughly explained all the hotel's amenities. Knowing I was traveling with two young children, she thoughtfully provided special kids' slippers and toothbrushes and even added extra safety rails, ensuring my little ones' safety during our stay. Since it was raining and difficult to go out, Lily actively invited the kids to participate in the hotel's DIY craft activities. My younger child is only two and not yet skilled at mixing and applying colors, but the staff patiently helped with the paints and guided her hand-in-hand through the creation process. At one point, my older child needed to attend an online meeting, and it was easy to be disturbed by her younger sibling in the room. After speaking with Lily, she immediately suggested using the hotel's study room, where she flexibly managed the ambient noise based on the children present, which was a huge help for me. Objectively, the room's hardware facilities might have a slight drawback, but the staff's exceptionally thoughtful and proactive, warm service more than made up for any shortcomings in the hardware. It was arguably the best service I've ever experienced during any stay. I'll definitely prioritize choosing this hotel again for my next trip.

I stumbled upon this international hostel by chance and met many foreign friends, all vibrantly enjoying their overseas trips. The ground floor features postcards of beautiful scenery from all over China, and a fish tank. The stairwell has a felt board recording thoughts and impressions from friends around the world. As you go up, there's a Western-style restaurant with professional chefs, bookshelves displaying rare books, a pool table, and a ping-pong table. Further up are the rooms, and the rooftop has a terrace perfect for relaxation, watching the sunset, team building, or just hanging out. There are abundant green plants and a small pond with many fish... Nearby, there are many famous attractions like Cuihu Lake, Yunnan University, Zhu De's former residence, and Kunming Old Street. Service: The front desk lady speaks fluent English, communicates smoothly and politely, and even offered to help carry luggage upstairs. The hotel environment is quite good, right near Dianchi Lake (part of the reason I booked this hotel). During the National Day holiday, it wasn't overly crowded, and both breakfast and the dinner buffet were delicious. The housekeeping auntie was extremely, extremely responsible! Her service was top-notch. The concierge staff were also excellent; they could deliver meals to the room. Because I caught a cold due to the temperature drop in Yunnan these past two days, they even sent ginger tea. And since my flight was a bit later, they accommodated our request for a late check-out. Overall, besides the TV being a bit small, there's really nothing else to complain about. The location is excellent, right by Cuihu Lake. The room was indeed small, but that's understandable given the prime real estate around the lake. The in-room amenities are all high-end brands like Duravit, which shows the designer's attempt to compensate for the small size. The bedside power strip and reading light design are also quite clever. The service was great; the front desk staff were enthusiastic and even helped with laundry and promptly mailed back an item I left in the room. My only minor complaint is that the lobby can get quite noisy during lunch and dinner service. The location of the hotel can also be near Vientiane City. The hotel is on the side of the road and is easier to find. The lobby on the first floor of the hotel is large. The sound of boiling water in the next room was very clear, the sound of opening the cabinet door in the next room was also very clear, and the sound of talking in the next room was also very clear. The sound of bathing upstairs and next door was also very clear, the sound of rushing water. The voice in the corridor was also heard very clearly, the sound of walking in the corridor, the sound of pulling the suitcase, and it was also heard very clearly. On the evening of the New Year's Eve, I called the front desk several times and no one answered. On the second day, I asked the front desk person, and the front desk person said that it was a holiday. No one cleaned on the first day of the New Year, the front desk had to change my room, and I didn't change it. I have stayed in so many hotels. The first time I encountered such a situation, there was no one at the front desk on the 30th night of the New Year. There was no staff in the hotel and no security. There was no cleaning staff on the first day of the New Year. This is not a small hotel, it is also a relatively large hotel, how can this situation occur?
